I hope Alena isn't becoming an after thought in that group - she is the most well rounded and artistic skater in that bunch.
-
While I am in awe of her feats - why do we feel the need to push the sport in this direction? I agree that we need to start tracking to see data on young bodies and what the early training of jumps are having on them.
-
I think she is amazing as well - my question remains why is there a need to subject her as yet not fully formed body to train this many quads? Tara ended up with hip surgery jumping 3-3’s at her young age and stopped skating at 17. The girl is 14 - I don’t see why there is a need to do this all now. Is it because it is only doable when he body is like this? I don’t know about others but I don’t want to see the sport evolve to a point where girls are doing crazy amazing things at 14-15 and then leave the sport broken 2 years later. Artistry also takes time and maturity to develop so how we expect this when girls barely last 2 seasons and by the time they have developed artiscally the next batch of jumping phenoms have again upped the tech ante. If I wanted to watch gymnastics on ice I would just watch gymnastics. This is really something that the ISU needs to ask about where they want the sport to go. I think Sasha is amazing and fierce - I want her to last. Sadly I agree with your pessimism. And I feel the same about whether we are talking about girls or boys so same concern about Stephen as well

I am torn about this. On the one hand - I am awed and amazed and on the other I am not comfortable of where we seem to be taking FS. Do I want the next quad to be full of 15-16 year olds jumping quads and have programs of very little artistic value? No I do not! Also how many bloody times is she jumping them in practice. I feel sorry for her hips and her body in general. Like why does she even need 3 quads? Just baffles the mind that she is doing this - not in a good way

To each their own bit to me it looked like they made POTO for busy people - crammed as much stuff in as possible. The cuts of music were odd and what is that team’s fascination with sound effects. I will take a hard pass on this program. The program to me is forgettable and not really up to par for a reigning OGM. Curious to see Carmen now
-
The POTO SP is not good! Yikes

Is this a product of their diet? or lack of eating... I read somewhere that ED's increase the risk of stress fractures... Yes thank god Zhenya is out of there tbh...

Just wanted to say that I was on a flight from Calgary to Toronto with Tessa and Scott. It was one of the Tokyo-Calgary-Toronto ones. I chatted with Scott for a few minutes while waiting for bags. Such a genuinely nice guy and easy to talk to. Did not ask for a picture - they looked very tired and pretty much got their bags as soon as the conveyer started and left. Fan girl moment for me today 😍😍

Yeah that Yuzu hates Shoma thing was odd. He obviously doesn’t....
-
So my worry is that if the source is Doug then it's likely true and something happened and now he's not coming... But I highly doubt it is for the reason that they speculated. That made no sense to me. But maybe Boyang himself did not want to come?
-
The reason they were speculating about doesn't make sense - Brian's team is not usually petty like that... But if the inside source is Dough Haw (spelling?!) who has been on the show numerous times before then I think it's true. Doug is a very good friend of Brian and has tons of inside information but he is discreet and he would not say anything unless Brian ok'ed it... so... who knows what is going on. I hope he does end up going but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen now
-
I also don't get it - who has the time and energy to be anti. These people must have too much time on their hands... get some hobbies!
-
ooh I like this
-
that's true after Yuzu / Shoma, there's quite the dip although I do wonder if this will impede the development of some of younger male skaters... But too early to tell, I'm just so excited to see Dai compete again. He was one of my faves pre Yuzu
-
OMG I just came here to post about Dai's return!! I CANNOT believe it... WOW - I love his skating. I wonder how he will fare, he's been out of the competitive scene for 4 years...What's next Nobu?
-
Yes I feel like they are preparing for the time when Yuzu retires. Yuzu doesn't really need any help from politicking. He is just that good!
-
Skate America has the weakest mens' field. Finland GP men's lineup is STACKED! But the Finland ladies is also kind of weak
-
I am not sure that Kolyada has all that much support from RusFed. TAT is a bigger fan of Yuzu than him. He has a rough draw getting Yuzu in both GP’s
-
So excited that I will get to see her new DW programs at SCI
-
Just watch the assignment announcement get delayed. UGH
-
Must be all the Olympics FS I subjected them to this year .
-
Well from the last two pages it seems that you all think that Yuzu will be at NHK and IdF - I am still holding out hope for SCI but if not I hope we get Shoma or Boyang. And Evgenia! My 5 year old is interested in seeing Yuzu and Sailor Moon girl. HA HA
-
But Javi has to come back to get sushi with Nam and Evgenia
-
Can you imagine those stroking classes when EVERYONE is back... Evgenia, Boyang, Jason, Javi, Yuzu, Gabby, Jun Hwan

Thanks for the link to the translation. She has such a great head on her shoulders - so mature. I completely agree with TSL (crazy right?) that she is the Katarina Witt of her generation personality wise. And I love the fact that the Canadian skaters are ready to adopt her as one of their own. She will be like Javi - our honarary Canadian
