She was born on 21 July, only skaters who reached the age of 15 until 1 July can go to the Olympics.
Had no idea she was that close
Wow.

Am now catching up.
Some thoughts:
Yuhana Yokoi : cool program, nice 3F-3T too
Rika Kihira: Awesome 3A. It's nice for her to participate now as there is not so much at stake. Think she will win this next year.
Mai Mihara: that fall, oh Mai
Kaori Sakomoto: Who would have thought she was an Olympic-contender at the start of the season. But here we are. An absolute star
Nana Araki: One of my favourite juniors. Good to see her getting more of experience in.
Mako Yamashita: Nice 2A. She's good, was close to getting to the JGPF too. Hope to see more of her in the coming years.
Wakaba Higuchi: I would have been less surprised at a 3A than a 1A. Good she fought back and hope it didn't cost her the games
Satoko Miyahara: solid and elegant
Marin Honda: I thought she had a good shot at the Olympics before this season started. She is good, deserving PCS, but I had expected a little more this season.
Rika Hongo: What happened? You Queen!
Rinka Watanabe: Who is she? She wasn't at the JGP, right? Nice skate.

Am glad I followed the junior grand prix; now I know more of the skaters than if I had just followed seniors. Am looking forward to seeing the ones I don't know as well.
I guess Alena is the oldest one?
Just now, Yatagarasu said:The way things look now, I will not make it for the FS and I am so, so miffed because this one really is the top. Sigh. At least there's the SP!
You won't? Wow, I hope you will be able to make it.
You speak Russian, right?

For some reason I thought it was much earlier. Good, that means I don't have to wake up early
This competition is only behind the Olympics in terms of excitement to me.

I guess Zhenya needed her rest. Better now than when at the Olympics.

Sasha Trusova has landed a 4T, captured on video by Daniil Gleihengauz.
It was on his instastories though so will have to go back through Twitter to find the video.
ETA: Oh it was already posted in the Juniors thread
I saw that; so amazing!
Wonder what he programs will look like in a few years.
4lz in combination? (exaggerating, but you never know with these ladies
)

I like that the ladies have a thread all to themselves.
Yup :
Must say this is one of the competitions that I have looked forward to most of all this season. It's not just the seniors, but some of the juniors as well competing against each other.
Hope Gubanova can skate clean.
And really really hope Zhenya will be fine and do well.

I think Rika has also been training 4S and 4T
Wow, didn't know that.
I also heard Gabrielle Daleman might try a quad toe at some point.

Japan owns this and they should. Love how many skaters like the series too.

We have two champions of the French Nationals decided!
Mae Berenice MEITE wins the Ladies event and off she goes to the Olympics!
Lola ESBRAT / Andrei NOVOSELOV won the pairs.
I will put up the final results as soon as the men and ID is finished tomorrow.
Some videos of French Nats (a few more on the channel)
Chafik BESSEGHIER Short Program
Gabriella PAPADAKIS & Guillaume CIZERON Short Dance
Wow, that was close. I wish both Laurine and her could go.

She has a kind of presence on ice that Masha can only dream of. She's been off all season though, some of that fire has been missing, especially at the beginning of it but then I do think she's been improving a bit. If I had to pick, I'd pick her but yes, right now, I say Masha has it. We'll see. I think Radio will go for it, I think it's in her blood. Roll the dice attitude!
She used to be Russia's number 2, so I hope she'll be able to recapture some of that.
I do think Maria has it though, unless she really messes it up. It will probably also count that she was 2nd in the GPF, showing she can medal on the international stage. How things change. Just a year ago, I thought Anna was a safe bet.

Though the list of ladies who have done the triple axel is ever growing, I am still always excited when a woman accomplishes this jump.
Rika Kihira even did a triple axel- triple toe at the JGP.
And in juniors we now have a lady who has a quad sal in her free program.
My question is, who else do you think will start jumping triples axels and quads?

Oh yeah, Misha...
Yeah, that was awesome (and hot)
This was cool too:
Like how she often makes an effort to do something that appeals to the country she skates in.
