I mean, the survey number is pretty small. I'm sure currently depending on cut off it may flipflop between both of them.

I always thought Olympics was more tourist specific so I thought of it the other way around with the host country trying to make as much bank from incoming tourists during the event, so yea this reserved stuff surprised me. But well, in general though FS seems like a sport that the way they do tickets don't make much sense anyway. Hm, Japan though takes it to a new level, but at least the ticket people in Japan seem to have a good grasp of what they're doing and reasons for it I guess.
-
Oh, thank you for checking anyway. It just surprised me because I thought Japan was very strict about closed practices. About those tickets though... Is it normal? Tbh when I learned that a lot of seats for Olympics are reserved for local people and etc... Stuff like this makes it so hard for all fans of the sport.

I saw an old news clip of Hanyu practicing during Worlds 2014 and there was an audience? Was there open practices during Worlds 2014? In Japan!?
-
Maybe this hair was his doing. His abuse of hairspray during COR opened my eyes to what he was capable of.

When are skaters expected to be in Japan in the city where Nationals is? I would think if Yuzu isn't flying to Japan this weekend its obviously a WD?
-
Gosh, don't make me start crying again. I'd give him all my health AND luck for those two weeks if possible. It hurts too if he looks up at those boards in TCC and 2018 is not next to his name under gold medal Olympians. Just hearing about him doing so for Worlds is
-
Btw, if Yuzu does express an interest in going to 4cc and his team approves it, will JSF approve is another question. What's the criteria for being named on the team? I'm sure Yuzu will probably meet it, but the salt level of antis if he does get named to both the Olys AND 4cc (and maybe Worlds too).
-
Bringing this back from beyond. What is this about? Can anyone translate? Google translate gives something wonky.

Thank you, Hanyu fans for being so thoughtful. Thank you, Team TCC for being so thoughtful. Thank you, local canadians for being so thoughtful. Thank you @kaerb for sharing this wonderful news.

At work I was proofreading bios of hundreds of candidates and I saw a David, Brian, many Tracy's, Nathan, Jason, Adam, and even Patrick and my heart internally screamed WHERE IS YUZU? Not that I expected to find him, of course, but the Yuzu shaped hole in my heart is very real.
-
If its about summer sports, then really doesn't make much sense, yeah. But I saw a video once I think of Yuzu cheering on the JPN soccer team promo? so anything goes maybe. Or y'know, he can just take up archery.
-
Hm, I still don't like it. Its like tricking the public or putting click-bait, but well I also do understand the need to use popular athletes for marketing and its not like the guy name-dropped anyone without first being prompted. Still, integrity though. Hopefully everyone's onboard.
-
If Yuzu goes professional and does ice shows (fortunately ice shows are big in Japan), he probably won't be the same but close. Shizuka and some of the Japanese skaters seems to be still in shape, even if not to the point of competitive and that might also be due to age too.
-
<<----- My mind.
-
So how does that work? I believe the JSF probably has a say since they take a part in getting or giving the assignments, and perhaps they offer and its also the skater who agrees? Or maybe its the other way too and the skater expresses an interest and the JSF sees if its possible. Well probably no one here really knows since we aren't in JSF.

Since I don't know much about that time, although I know he won everything in his junior year at that time, why did they push him up to seniors that young especially when the field was already so deep back then? Because surprisingly even Uno stayed as a junior longer when people were already pushing him to go to senior worlds with only Hanyu and Machida as real medal contenders.

Just dropping in, collecting links and for anyone interested: http://olympics.nbcsports.com/2017/12/11/yuzuru-hanyu-japan-national-championships-injury-figure-skating/amp/ Nothing new here and an opinion/reiteration that Hanyu will probably make the Olys team even without Nats from U.S. outlet. (Also, redundant free promo for Nathan at the end. Hey, they gotta live somehow.) OT: Another thing I'm wondering, so if Hanyu does WD from Nats and gets on the Olys team, I wonder if he'll be put on the roster for either SP and FS for the team event. Due to timing I'd prefer him for SP but skating his FS for the team event might actually help him for the individual to shake out some kinks.

That sucked!!! Well, at least he was closer to home in that condition, but what a bummer it must have have been for him. Sometimes I'm sad I wasn't a fan earlier and then other times I'm glad with my weak heart I might have been a mess.

I just wrote that I'll support anything Yuzu (and his team) decides. Whether or not that proves to be good in the long run, it's important that he is a part of that decision. (Bracing my heart anyway.) Question for anyone who knows, how late did Yuzu WD for Nats last year? Was he already in Japan? If he WD this year, do you think he'll go back to Japan for New Years anyway? Eta: And wondering how long I'll have to keep myself busy until I get a new current visual of him. His hair may be long by now.

Thank you! I have been looking for a better video of that clip because I did realize there were probably more things said. As always, appreciate the translation as well. I think it's interesting how many opinions have come out since Yuzu's WD and also recent update assuring people and maybe even Yuzu that he'll make the Olympic team no matter what, and maybe its for sponsors and antis as well who might fuss. It's kind of weird though, all the different pressures coming from all angles that I start to feel soooo bad for Yuzu on top of everything else. Yet, here's my side on it anyway: if Yuzu is aiming for Nats and is not contemplating WD yet, or whatever he decides if he withdraws, then I'm supporting him even if its a good idea or not, because going through NHK and hearing about his belated teary WD that time, I think pressuring a fighter like Yuzu to withdraw against his will takes it's own toll on him as well.

Also fellow American here. While I agree with the first half, and I don't have much patience for the USFS, I will have to disagree with the latter. I think Nathan is already very humble and just a very confident skater who is also smart and honest. I've seen people label Yuzu as cocky, arrogant & conceited, and I can't understand how people can twist his passion, confidence & love of competition into something like that. I just hope people can give these men some props for being great sportsmen who recognizes their competitors but are also true to themselves and their version of ideal skates, which for Nathan and Yuzu happens to be different. Also while uber American skating fans are on the Nathan train, he's also gaining Chinese and Japanese fans too as well as from other nationalities and he is earning it through his performances especially his SP this season. Unfortunately for Shoma, I do think if no one new steps up once the uncle retires Nathan will be the big star in the men's field and has his time to really shine. (I'm personally rooting for Boyang though.)
-
Also: Somewhere, I thought Yuzu also said something which sparked Japan's "Absolute Champion" or other?
-
Didn't Yuzu jump to ranking no. 1 before Sochi? Makes it even more that he did it because he didn't make the podium of the previous season's Worlds either. But Nathan probably just needs one more senior season to jump even higher. Whatever. Its still a party. I'll take it. And the bragging rights too.
-
Thanks. And belated thanks for Xeyra as well. Not that world standings matter but If it worked similarly during Sochi I'm awed Hanyu got top ranking too.
