Maybe he just loosens his work ties and slips them over his head so that it's just a matter of slipping it back on and pulling on the narrow end to tighten it when he puts it back on – never undoing the knot once he has the right length. Always a good trick.

I hesitated one day while waiting for a friend to make up his mind about whether or not he could go and by the next day I was able to get only the Thursday and Saturday tickets. Strangely, Friday tickets sold out first. That's why we weren't there when Yuzu skated his world record breaking short program on Friday.

We will see you in Vancouver!
-
There should be more tickets available when the general public sale starts on June 19. Just be very quick!

Oakville is only 37 km from Toronto – less than an hour's drive – so the chances are that Yuzu will attend this competition, considering that he has attended the last three. I just got three sets of tickets for all three days. I am going with my wife and a friend. The pre-sale price for all three days is $65 plus tax ($15 for Thursday, $25 for Friday and $25 for Saturday). The regular all event price is $85. So you save $20 per person if you get it at the presale price. You just have to put in the promotional code at the beginning (at the top): family0918. The pre-sale price is in effect until June 18.

So my question is who from the Planet is planning to go to the Autumn Classic International this year? Are we assuming that Yuzu will be competing at the ACI?

I really liked what Tanith White had to say in the 4th segment of the NBC pre-FS discussion with Liam McHugh and Scott Hamilton. They were discussing whether or not Yuzu would be the GOAT if he won his second Olympic medal. She seemed to think that the ISU changing the rules to balance jumps and program components was a good thing and that we already had an example of the perfect all-around skater in Yuzuru Hanyu. Scott Hamilton thought that Dick Button is the GOAT, but Tanith White disagreed with him and said that Yuzu would be the GOAT if he won his second Olympic gold medal. https://mega.nz/#F!c9ETCbhA!aGU8aGszJQvCyuITMRO9ew. I hate this guy! I love Alina's facial expression: WTF???

I know this is off-topic for this thread, but since you are in Malaysia, have you seen this Olympic Channel video on Julian Yee? https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/playback/far-from-home/core-branded-far-from-home/#

Exactly! I think a lot of people share the same thought, including Massimiliano Ambesi. All those perfect jumps and elements and not one GOE of +3.0! I may be biased, but I agree with Max that Yuzu should have received 10.0 across the board for Program Components.

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY TO OUR FRIENDLY PLANET!!! Yay! I finally caught up with this thread in time to celebrate our first anniversary! You would never guess by the number of posts, but I have been a satellite since May 1, 2017. The reason I was so behind in the thread is because I have been in the hospital for intravenous treatment of a blood infection since April 20. This is the third hospitalization since December 1 of last year. My IV treatment is scheduled for two weeks and will end on May 5. This is a good thing since I was afraid that I had a bone infection in which case I would require months of IV treatment. I've had a bone infection before and that required five months of IV treatment. Fortunately, there is Wi-Fi in the hospital and I have been able to use my laptop to watch YouTube and Dailymotion videos of Yuzu's Sendai Parade, his attendance at the Emperor's garden party and to catch up on the thread since a couple of days ago. I am a very positive person so the many challenges I have had in my life do not depress me, but it is cheering to see Yuzu's smiling face! The days definitely go by much quicker when I am on my laptop, especially watching and reading Yuzu related videos and news.

I am 50 pages behind in this thread so I am late to the conversation regarding the fit of his suit at the Emperor's Garden Party. The jacket is definitely too short. Although it is subject to fads and personal preference, the "correct" length for suits is measured by holding the arms straight down with your fingers extended. Then you curl your fingers in and the bottom of the suit should fit within the curled fingers. I have been wearing suits my whole life and even tailored suits come in "short", "medium" and "tall" lengths. It appears to me that he is wearing a "short" length jacket when he should be wearing "medium". Other than that, the fit of the lapel around his neck, the shoulders, chest and waist appear fine. A sure sign that the suit does not fit properly is when the lapel rides up at the back of the neck so that there is space between the jacket lapel and the shirt collar. This is particularly emphasized when the person is sitting because the jacket tends to ride up. Regarding the length of his suit sleeves, in the picture with Akiko Wada, his sleeves appear to be the right length. In one of the photos, his right sleeve appears short while the left one appears to be the right length. In some of the other photos, they both appear short. The suit sleeves may be a little short, but the other problem may be that the sleeves may not be pulled down to their full length in some of the pictures in which they appear short. In addition, the shirt sleeves are a bit too long which emphasizes the "shortness" of the suit sleeves. Although to some extent it is a matter of personal preference, the "correct" amount of shirt sleeve to show below the suit sleeve is about half an inch. Some people like to show as much as an inch of shirt sleeve.

Exactly. ¥2500 is the price for people living in Japan. Foreign purchasers have the local tax deducted.
-
It is definitely the woman's voice expressing concern.
-
I'm Parisienne Walkways, which is appropriate since I was hooked after seeing Yuzu performing this on TV in the team event at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

1. Be a man holding a banner right side up. 2. Have someone hold you upside down by your ankles. 3. Yell very loudly as Yuzuru passes by: "Yuzu, I love you!" (Before you pass out.)

I am reading the English translated version of an epic Japanese biographical novel entitled "Taiko" about Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a famous samurai feudal lord of the mid to late 16th century who brought an end to a century and a half of civil war. He is one of three great men who brought about the unification of Japan. The other two men are his predecessor and liege lord, Oda Nobunaga (who is an ancestor of the skater Nobunari Oda) and Tokugawa Iyeyasu. The following paragraph could have been written about Yuzuru Hanyu and it reminded me that all great people share certain characteristics: " The more dangerous the situation and the deeper his hardships, the happier he became. It was the happiness that arose from surmounting adversities and being able to turn and see them behind him, and he had experienced it to greater and lesser degrees since the time of his youth. He himself claimed that the greatest happiness of life was to stand at the difficult border between success and failure."

Yuzuru's interview by Shuzo Matsuoka on February 19, 2018 with English subtitles: Thanks to BlueFlame for YUZU
-
Which is exactly what Robin Cousins and his female co-commentator said of Shoma Uno at the 2017 World Championships in Helsinki. They said that Shoma Uno had beaten Yuzuru Hanyu to become the Japanese National Champion when Yuzuru was not even in the competition due to flu! So, yes, it is possible that commentators will say that Yuzu was beaten even when he is not in the competition.
-
Yuzuru is definitely cute and he is definitely NOT stupid. He is an exceptionally intelligent young man.
-
What you are trying to say is that he is CiUTE!

Off-topic, I know, but is there a thread on the planet where I can find links to videos of the performances of skaters other than Yuzu?
-
I just clicked on the link and still get ¥6,571,000. Did you click on this link right now? What is the figure that you get?
-
Why does the auction show ¥6,571,000 when I click on the link??? https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e265647509
