The commentators talking about the tension performing at NHK trophy and how she used too much force on the 3 Lo and popping it. @rockstaryuzu It must be very late in Ottawa! Past 1 am? Well, I had to give a zoom lecture for a uni class in Toronto this morning at 1:30 am. We are all losing sleep in this globalized world!

Oh too bad she fell on 3A. She was nailing the jump in the 6 minute warm up. She lost her concentration and missed the last jump. Too much pressure for her first NHK event…

Mikutina has great movements. A bit tight on the axel. Too bad about the fall on Lutz! The commentator says she is originally from Ukraine.

I agree, her comments are helpful and sympathetic without being overly sweet or cloying.

Eva- What a fun program and costume! Too bad about the popped lutz.

yes! Watching live on regular NHK TV. Shizuka Arakawa commentating - offering details on each of the elements.

Lovely skate by Sumiyoshi Rion. Enjoyed her step sequence - great use of edges.

My sister and her husband got to watch the livestrem in a movie theatre in Tokyo. He went along somewhat reluctantly, just to accompany my sister, but was floored by the performance and now can't stop gushing about the quality of the production and, ofc, Yuzu's performance. A new fanyu in the making! My sister said she was glad to see it on a large screen - not quite like watching it in person - but the scale of the production could be felt. Also, the beautiful lighting - esp the blue lights that audience put on at the end - during PW - was apparently mesmerizing on the large screen. It was shared on the Japanese social media that some of the audience sent around a written note asking everyone to turn on the blue light for the encore, as a surprise to Yuzu. Not everyone got the note, but evidently enough people did, and as the blue lights started to spread, everyone else got into the act and the entire arena turned into deep blue glow. What a wonderful way to connect! Yuzu has managed to activate that sense of giving and sharing, to which the audience responded organically and emotionally to give back the love!

What an experience! Thank you, Yuzu! Please take care and get a good rest after these two grueling days! P.S. He was crying at the end - shoulders trembling from the effort to hold back tears. What an emotional event, and more to come!

Hello, satellites! I just moved back to Japan from Canada and am glad to be able to watch Prologue live on the local TV station! I was too busy with the move to try for tickets, and being in a mountain area, not near any movie theatres. My sister and her husband bought the tickets to a movie theatre in Ueno, Tokyo and will be watching the live viewing on the large screen. We are starting now! Looking forward to catching up on the other side!

Yowamushi Pedal! For the new fanyus, I made a translation of all the Yowamushi Pedal manga illustration from two years ago, during the Tour de Tohoku. Pls take a look - very moving plus you get to see iconic places around Miyagi prefecture.

This is a great article on Tenchi program - with some historical background and interpretation by a Chinese fanyu. Published on Medium which should be accessible publicly without subscription but apparently there are some regions where this is geoblocked. I have downloaded the printout of the article in case someone needs to access it. TTCT is my favorite Free program so far, and I hope Yuzu continues to perform and evolve the content. There is so much content to explore within this story. I wrote about this program when it was first presented in JNats 2020, because I still remember watching the original Taiga Drama (NHK year-long masterpiece theatre-like production), also called Ten-to-Chi-to, when I was just a teeny tiny tod. So when I heard the title of the new program in 2020, I was highly sceptical that it was about the same story because I thought it would be near impossible to bring the Taiga theme into figure skating. I was happily proven wrong, and was floored by Yuzu's ability to bring such a complex story into his performance. He has matured beyond Seimei - which is a masterpiece of choreography, but the original story and narrative of the movie Seimei is rather simple and straightforward, good for entertainment. But TTCT drama is on another level - it is a complex, philosophical, and deeply emotive story of a military and intellectual giant, who died too early in the Sengoku era to see its conclusion, but he left a legacy that made him a legend beyond the history books. Thanks to Yuzu, the younger generation in Japan are being re-introduced to this amazing story. An interesting discussion among the Japanese twst: basically about how Yuzu has transformed the Japanese sports media, which used to cater to the "old dudes" - i.e., men who liked vulgar news and scandals. Now the Jmedia are realizing that this kind of reporting will immediately turn off female audience, who will mark the offending company for targetted boycotting and will never ever purchase any of their products. (Coming a bit late and not sure if this has been posted already) Rondo from JNats 2021 reached 3.5 million views a couple of days ago. You may recall that @Henni147 challenged us to increase the viewership using hashtag #YuzuOnYouTube. This was just before Yuzu dropped the first YouTube announcement, and the same hashtag was swept up into this huge event. But some of us have not forgotten and we managed to increase the viewership on Rondo in the midst of the YouTube storm. I have no doubt he will perform this program again in the near future. I am looking forward to a fresh and new Professional presentation of this masterpiece!

He has already brought back the back cross rolls in Seimei - which had been removed for competition because it would have lowered his stsq level. Here are some initial thoughts on the programs that could be revised for better balance and performance value: Otonal - There is a rather long and extended musical transition before his last combination jump - because he had place it after the halfway mark to maximize points. He clearly had issues adjusting this segment and tried various arrangements before settling on the final free program choreography, but I always felt the form was not balanced, a bit forced. He could make it work better now that he doesn't have to address these point related issues. Origin - It should be revised with 4:30 or longer - to give more breathing moments in between. The competition arrangement is intense and gives him no time to take a breath between the elements. I am sure the PH satellites will have other suggestions, and it would be interesting to compare notes! @Henni147's views would be most welcome! Hope & Legacy and Rondo are perfect and don't require major rearrangements. He seems to want to add different jump combinations into the program - which would be fine. I hope he will include 3A3Lo in one of his iconic programs!

I’m watching Mezamashi on FujiTV and they are covering Ohtani Shohei’s historic 10th win as pitcher back to back with Yuzu. What a coincidence that these two gentlemen from Tohoku will end up being covered by top national media coverage on the same day!! It’s a wonderful moment to treasure!
