But how should I say… I feel it’s a work that becomes more flavorful the more you savor it.

For me, this is the first time creating an ice story entirely without using language, and that was the theme behind PREQUEL.

Of course, I’d love to know how everyone interprets it and what feelings it brings after watching.
But more than anything, I believe your first impressions, your own understanding of the story, are what matter most. That’s the mindset I had while creating PREQUEL.

And as shown at the end, this story has a continuation in ICE STORY Part 4 - “WHITE something something.” The piece I performed this time, Prequel before the WHITE…, is the protagonist’s prequel for that Part 4 “WHITE something something.”

 

I wrote this entire story myself, and this time I wanted to use original music, to try skating to pieces written specifically for my story. After lots of discussions with the ICE STORY team, we decided to ask Marihiko Hara, and he readily agreed, and even wrote all the music for me! Thank you, Marihiko-san! Hahaha, sorry for putting you on the spot.

 

So, Prequel is a story about that child, the protagonist, gradually discovering the colors of the outside world. There are many colors in the program, including magenta, yellow, and actually, cyan. There are countless colors in this world, and it’s because the world is made up of these colors that we’re able to see it. But I think, just like how each person in this venue sees me from a different perspective, when everyone looks at the world, the scenery and colors each person sees will certainly not be the same as what I see. So I hope that this PREQUEL can become a small opportunity for everyone to come to know the world a little differently.

Maybe you’ll notice, “Come to think of it, this color is really beautiful.” On your way home, it's probably already quite dark now, you might still find yourself thinking, “Ah… so the world is filled with these kinds of colors.” When you return to your family, you might feel, “So there are such warm colors too.” When you’re feeling sad, you might discover, “There are such dim colors too.” I hope you’ll discover all these many colors, because the world really is beautiful… I hope my performance can be a small chance for you to feel that.

 

And speaking of colors, in the first half, Realive, for me it was truly colorful. I think I was able to express the unique colors of each program. Please find warm colors, or cool/“handsome” colors (strikes a pose), fun colors (playful gesture), hehe, beautiful colors, or sad colors (wipes tears), or even gloomy colors (looks down).
