  1. Congrats to Yuzuru on becoming a brand ambassador for Gucci! Looking forward to the future projects
  2. Hi @MarnieF, I didn't see anyone answer your question yet. I wouldn't necessarily go with eBay as the first choice for items that are not yet sold out. For things like photobooks and magazines, in the US you could consider buying from Kinokuniya--they're a Japanese bookstore chain with multiple US locations and a US online store. This is their listing for the AERA photobook: https://united-states.kinokuniya.com/bw/9784023323506 Otherwise, you can also consider buying direct from Japan from online stores that will ship abroad like Amazon Japan, CDJapan, etc. You'll need to take international shipping fees and potential customs duties into account. If you prefer digital books, then Amazon Japan also offers a Kindle version of the AERA photobook for sale (some extra steps are required to be able to access the content).
  3. Thank you for sharing your opinion from a Korean entertainment perspective. I have some thoughts related to this topic. Regarding boycotts, I think most fanyus generally know (or learn) not to engage with tabloids online unless truly necessary for some reason. But Yuzuru is a household name in Japan, and tabloids will appeal to the general public. He also sadly has many antis who would be more than happy to spread any negative rumours. Since the marriage announcement, there have been media and tabloids trying to find the identity of Yuzuru's wife or sprout some BS about her or the relationship. Often, the "news" articles would come out around important dates (e.g. RE_PRAY ticket lottery notification dates), like clockwork. Which has led some fans to believe that this was a targeted campaign against Yuzuru, with money involved.
  4. I checked back in the thread, but it doesn't seem like the Olympics.com article about Yuzuru's announcement has been shared on the forum. Marika and other native Japanese speakers on Twitter have mentioned that their translation of the announcement was fairly accurate, and I think this is probably the best we'll get from a non-fan source. Here it is: https://olympics.com/en/news/figure-skating-japan-olympic-champion-hanyu-yuzuru-announces-divorce-partner Additional note from Marika: I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but there is a lot of misinformation going on right now about the reason for the divorce. Yuzuru clearly mentions that media outlets and their intrusion in the couple's lives as the perpetrators in his written announcement, but various news media websites in Japan are "conveniently" leaving the media part out in their headlines when reporting the story, giving the impression that the slander, stalking, etc. was done by overzealous fans. Many people just read the news headlines and believe what's written. The general public and people who aren't fans of Yuzuru or follow his pro career probably won't read his actual statement (even if they understand Japanese). Yuzuru's message is being manipulated and the blame is being shifted from the media to his fans. Marika also commented on this: It's been asked here what we (as fans, and mainly international fans) can do for Yuzuru at this time. Correcting misinformation about his divorce is one thing we can do, so that the truth is at least known. If you encounter people, either in real life or online, who have the wrong impression, then you can share the Olympics.com article with them. There are some English-speaking fans already doing this on Twitter, but I'm sure misinformation is also on other sites like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc. and other fan spaces. Of course, engaging with strangers online takes some mental energy that not everyone can spare. And we can try to interact politely but it's inevitable that some people won't listen (e.g. you might get blocked by the user, they may argue with you, etc.). Sorry, I wrote a lot and it might not all make sense but I'm still quite sad about Yuzuru's situation...trying to feel a bit useful This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  5. When I heard (elsewhere) that these issues were escalating, I felt very concerned for Yuzuru. Because he doesn't have the backing of any large agency or firm who can actively fight the big money and interests that may be involved That makes him an easy target... Before the divorce announcement, I thought to myself that it might not be a bad idea for Yuzuru to consider joining an agency if he and his spouse were planning on having children. Their family would've been under even more scrutiny with a child involved, and sadly, I'm sure more measures would be needed to protect everyone. However, I don't have much knowledge of the J-entertainment world, PR agencies or management companies to be able to offer any real advice
  6. My understanding is that while Yuzuru has a legal team (Team Sirius) to assist him in his career where required, he is not under any PR agency or management company. He's basically self-managed. There are pros and cons to this.
  7. I feel very sad for Yuzuru, his family, and the family he was trying to create for himself.
  8. It's probably a stylistic choice. Sure, he could have used "The End" or the Japanese equivalent but "Fin" gives a more sophisticated/international feel. I believe using "Fin" at the end of a film came from French film culture originally, but has also been adopted by other cultures (I have seen it used before in different movies, books, etc. that have nothing to do with France). It is just one way to mark the end of a story for the audience. Maybe Yuzuru has watched a lot of older or foreign films where using the term "Fin" was more common than "The End"? It is interesting that you brought up the use of "Fin" as something intriguing, as I just automatically accepted it in my mind as something I have seen before
  9. I was fortunate enough to be able to watch RE_PRAY on both days. I'm not great with words but it was an amazing show that I'll never forget. Thank you to Yuzuru and the RE_PRAY team! It was also a first for me to both visit Japan and see Yuzuru perform live with my own eyes. For a long time I told myself that I'll go to Japan "one day", but wanting to see Yuzuru skate actually kicked off an actual plan (well, more of a scramble ) I'm back home now, but I'm already thinking of when I can go next...didn't get a chance to visit Sendai this time
  10. There is a third option: buy at the venue during the dedicated evening sales period for those who do not have LINE merch tickets (must still have a RE_PRAY ticket). On the website, there's a chart that outlines the schedule for venue sales each day and the times dedicated to those with and without merch tickets (can Google Translate the page to get the gist of it). November 3 (must have any RE_PRAY performance ticket) Have LINE ticket = 12:30~17:30 No LINE ticket = 17:30-18:30 November 4 (must have a RE_PRAY ticket for this day's performance) Have LINE ticket = 9:00~16:00 No LINE ticket = 19:00-21:00 November 5 (must have a RE_PRAY ticket for this day's performance) Have LINE ticket = 9:00~15:30 No LINE ticket = 18:00-20:00 Basically, there will be time for two hours after each day's show (and one hour on the 3rd) for show ticket holders to buy merch. I also confirmed this with Marika:
  11. Thank you to ANA for providing a decade of support Fly even higher, Yuzu!
  12. Just want to say that Yuzuru looks stunning in the latest Sekkisei campaign The makeup look is a bit more pronounced than what we're used to, but he pulls it off I'm kinda interested in trying that serum base product now. Hopefully we get some crumbs of that photoshoot used for the mug image as well
  13. New ANA Yuzu bears and bear pouch coming soon~
  14. Marika summarized parts of the show Re: Koi dance Re: video games Re: Vocaloid Re: Part 2 teaser (airing August 26) - - - - - Photo of Yuzuru and Gen Hoshino from Gen's Instagram: This post has been tagged by Yuzu_legend as [NEWS].
  15. Thinking about the marriage announcement reminded me of this bit from Prologue when Yuzuru was asked about his resolutions for 2023 and long term aspirations: "If, in the future, you think that "I don't have to watch it", "This is different", "I'm not interested in Hanyu Yuzuru" etc., I'll be sad but even if it turns out this way, someday if you watch TV or YT, I want to continue to put on performances that will make you think "Indeed Hanyu Yuzuru's performance is good." 16. Re: the theme of loneliness in Yuzuru's work - I follow this Jfanyu on Twitter for their fanart, but I also agree with what they said in this post below: Machine translation: "I thought the loneliness of GIFT is not so much the loneliness of having no one around you (physically), but rather the loneliness of having to accomplish things on your own, and almost losing sight of yourself and your dreams when you can't or won't succeed despite your best efforts. That interpretation won't particularly change in the future." This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  17. This English news article from Kyodo News includes some nice comments from regular people "Fans celebrate Japanese figure skating star Yuzuru Hanyu's marriage" (August 5, 2023) Link: https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2023/08/bfc1e2bf99d3-fans-celebrate-japanese-figure-skating-star-hanyus-marriage.html Also on Twitter if you would like to RT the article: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  18. A big congratulations to Yuzuru! I didn't quite understand the marriage part of his tweet when it first dropped due to Google Translate's weird translation, so I thought it was just a "I'll keep doing my best towards skating and thank you for your support" type of message But very soon the "registration" wording was clarified by fans on Twitter (me then: ) and suddenly the marriage news was everywhere It's wonderful that Yuzuru's found someone he wants to spend his life with I'm also glad that he got to share the news on his own terms. Wishing Yuzuru and his partner much happiness together!
  19. Another translation of Yuzuru's message on his Twitter. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  20. Marika's translation of the latest Elle Japan teaser
  21. A direct translation of the Japanese portion of Dean's message
  22. Only certain online stores are offering the postcards, but unfortunately Amazon Japan is not included
  23. I am hoping that after Sunday's show we will get some photos/news footage or just anything...like, a whole leg of the tour will have come and gone Is there a press embargo? Seems like it Even with no livestreams, I would have thought that with the start of the B-tour in a new city, with new musical guests, change of skaters, etc. would at least give us some news articles
  24. The CLAMP collaboration acrylic stands look lovely
