Performing GIFT Yuzu wore the costume without the headpiece, presumably for ease of skating Ito san's design sketches included the headpiece and Yuzu wears the full costume for the 'Couture on Ice' photo book. The design inspiration is surely an homage to the costume seen in the Firebird ballet, first performed in 1910

    Origin has been terribly missed. It is doubtful if it will return, but it will always be remembered with great affection. It seems that memories of the performances hold a substantial amount of painful feelings for Yuzu. Many Fanyus also recall the pain on Yuzu's behalf and the injustice towards him as well.

    For some reason this picture reminds me of a story someone wrote here on PH, not long after the founding of the site. The story was about a boy who lived in a village where the villagers set traps for bears. In secret the boy let the trapped bears free. One snowy night he followed a shooting star and climbed too high up a tree. He fell and broke his leg, fearing that he would die in the woods alone in the cold, the boy cried. He saw eye shine through the trees, from the shadows bear emerged and they took the boy with them until he was healed. In the springtime the boy goes back to his village, but the villagers are alarmed that he has returned, and they chase him away. It seems like an allegorical tale told in folk style. Does anyone else recall the story? I cannot find it now but I remember it quite well and thought that it was rather beautiful in its simplicity
