Thank you so much for your hard work. I was trying to keep up watching some of the live sessions but the time difference and my work made it very hard. Your summaries were were very helpful! -
ISU Congress 2022 (6-10 June)
Wintek replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
This is a start, but changes very little if the delegates and those covering the event get complacent. Little will change if juniors become a boot camp for jumping machines with bad basic skating techniques that gives the foundation for a safer incorporation and performance of other elements. Coaches will focus on training the children in elements that give points. We cannot dismiss that one of the proposed changes is to replace the step sequence for a choreographic sequence in Juniors (vibes over technique! yay!). That's not how you ensure the longevity of the athletes. -
Hi Umeko san! I was also pulled into Yuzu's orbit during Sochi, so we share that experience I am sorry to hear about the hardships you went through due to the earthquake. My home country has its own share of devastating earthquakes and tsunamis but I have been just too lucky to never have experience any major difficulties. But of course, I have seen first hand the devastation so your story and Yuzu's story touches my soul . I am so glad to read you were able to watch Yuzu's performance on the big screen!!! I would love to be part of the collective excitement of being among other people enjoying FaOI and Yuzu, I would have screamed my lungs out English is not my native language and I make a mess of grammar, so please just keep posting :-)

Thank you so much @birnasan! Reading about Yuzu's thoughts and reflection regarding his programs and parts of his career really help to give more context to his performances.

@Anabel Thank you so much for sharing the videos of Real Face with the subtitles!!!! I feel that we, non-Japanse speakers, are missing half of the meaning and effort Yuzu put into this program for not being familiar with the song (and even with Jpop genre), the lyrics, and how Yuzu worked on the choreography to match those lyrics.

There is a commentary about Yuzu's "Real Face" program that was posted on Web Sportiva on May 30. The machine translations is very bad so I was wondering if someone has seen translated comments of this article? The interpretation of the program and why Yuzu covers/uncovers his face with the hood is quite interesting. https://twitter.com/webSportiva/status/1531472536923701248?s=20&t=B1Zc95bI40NWgCCttFG_kwhttps://twitter.com/webSportiva/status/1531472536923701248?s=20&t=B1Zc95bI40NWgCCttFG_kwhttps://twitter.com/webSportiva/status/1531472536923701248?s=20&t=B1Zc95bI40NWgCCttFG_kw This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

Look at this smile! I have been re-watching videos of him during the show, and you can see glimpses of him glowing with happiness just enjoying skating. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

I would say that previous FaOIs have been similar to this one (I got TV Japan so I have been watching full FaOIs from 2014-2019 ) It doesn't seem like there is a lot of time for goofing around really because they are on a schedule, and Yuzu is something like the master of ceremony of FaOI so he has to keep things moving (different to a gala in a competition). From the live broadcast and the comments of those who have attended FaOI, it looks lke Yuzu is having a very good time!

Could you share the link with me as well?

The delayed axel is one of his signatures jumps and he usually adds it on gala and EX programs (e.g. Masquerade and Notte Stellata). The Japanese newspapers only mentioned the one 3A he did at the beginning when they described the Day 1 choreography. The single axel with outside spread eagle exit looks like a sound choreographic choice that perfectly matches the music.

In case someone wants to write to TV Asahi, there is a form available: https://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ch/contact/ I think that at least those who are accessing TV Asahi through paid services, such as JapanTV, could send a complaint/request. The form is in Japanese, but the machine translation is quite straight forward (here).

I'm glad it was helpful! I had a huge learning curve to get used to user interface. We can now (in)patiently wait for FaOI!!!! I just got super excited when I say (生) ファンタジー・オン・アイス among the list of scheduled programs

Hi! I am adding a link to a picture with instructions, hope this helps make the process of navigating Japan TV easier. The arrows to display the options are very hard to see. 1) Open Japan TV 2) If you don't get the lists of channel at the left side of the screen, click anywhere on the screen and the menu will be displayed. 3) To find CS Asahi Channel 2 easier, select where it says CS. Asahi Chanel 2 is a blueish/cyan color. 4) Click on the icon, then look for a small white arrow to open the guide of shows and select which one you want to watch. BTW, there are past FaOIs that were re-broadcast during golden week, as well as Continues with Wings and Music with Wings (all in CS Asahi Ch 2). See picture with instructions

Hi! Depending on where you are, you might be able to listen to 2 playlists list that a Japanese fan uploaded on YouTube. She extracted the music from the performances, so you can hear the cheers and sound of the blade on the ice: https://youtu.be/ukTm51e-q4E https://youtu.be/JK5Fx-jkeJs
