And that would only make sense if we saw a trend with the audience actively coming in to tune with this watered down version of the sport. Maybe we could say is a relatively sound financial decision. But is the opposite. They will blame COVID for the fall, but we’ve been watching this happening since at least 2018 (2017?). There’s no foresight at all with them, I honestly can’t phantom what goes on in their minds. (btw thank you for all you’ve been doing for this “fandom” and fs online space). I really just need the pics and little footage of Keiji + Yuzu They have been so close for so long and so consistent about it, but I guess they don’t make a good story for the media because Keiji is ignored a lot (good were the days of tv segments about their junior and early senior ~ rivalry ~ ). Fuji TV is being absolutely terrible…

LOL Sorry for the pushback, but I hope he doesnt This is definitely part of who he is, he is having a lot of fun and changing direction, and I’m very curious to see if he continues on the competitive circuit what he is going to do LOL Stuff like RF will never see a full sized rink, but Raison seems it might (like a Gala). This is like the pokemon evolution of stuff like LGC and PW, bound to happen. Is very nice being able to watch him grow and “adult” in his own terms like this. @Sammie-s it depends on the show and year, but he has done arguably worse than this LLOLL How can people forget the 17 year old stripping on ice with the infamous commentary “ladies and gentleman, we will take a short break before Yuzuru Hanyu loses all his clothes”. And throwing sweaty shirts to the audience. Is super fine for everyone to have preferences, fans don’t need to “like” everything, although Yuzu is not an entertainer. But let’s not loose sight that he does this for himself and his people only, and we share in it as audience. If there’s one thing this man won’t do - especially not in this next couple of years at all - is to skate for people’s expectations. Is alright to just enjoy a couple of programs and that’s it LOL Plus, his legacy is in his titles and big stage performances and also in the impressions his great skating skills have had in the sport and in people’s minds. Stuff now doesn’t change anything lol

Figure skating is not a top 5 sport in Japan and baseball is arguably top 1. Every time Yuzu manages to top surveys or break into top 5 with the general public like this is very monumental, because baseball players will be known to the general public in a very natural way, while most would never watch figure skating. This type of result just indicates he is much bigger than his own sport in a season where he had actual poor results and didn’t compete much. Amazing.

I’m HERE for Yuzu picking jpop / rock songs and just going crazy with them, I’m so very tired of the moodiness post-beijing. by all accounts he seems to be having so much fun performing, this is such a good route for him in terms of processing. Now patiently waiting for the costume drawings because I can’t trust the descriptions no more, they’re getting crazy! Although Marika’s sound fine

Is really hard to not attribute malice to what Fuji TV is doing honestly It might just be lack of funding, poor planning, poor decision making thinking they have to protect live viewing tickets sales, etc. But their mismanagement of this looks awful after Nagoya. I seriously think the show’s management should skip the city next year at least, there’s not much backlash that can be appropriately organized anyway. It just needs to be a cold financial decision.
