  1. Hi, I wanted to rewatch the Kenji no Heya interview but the link is broken...also,there was a 2016 (I think?) Javier and Yuzuru Spanish documentary with english subs that has now been taken off youtube. If anyone could provide links to these two I would be endlessly grateful
  2. So I’ve been going through Twitter and Reddit and I see loads of posts saying people should “Support all skaters equally” and I don’t really understand this. Is this something unique to the sport of skating? I’m a pretty big cricket fan and it’s unthinkable for an Indian to say we should cheer Pakistan too xD (although that’s probably the nationalist aspect coming through) Just wanted to know your thoughts!
  3. First time I watched a clean HD version of etude and I am blown away! I’ve never skated and don’t know much about technique, but what I loved here was that every single delicate note of the music is accentuated by an arm movement, a tilt of the shoulder, a little leap. Exquisite! I think this is my new favourite Yuzuru program.
  4. I ordered a Yuzuru magazine just a few days before my country went into lockdown...my order is in limbo. Here’s to hoping for a refund...
  5. Mr. Hanyu has resurrected me from the dead😭😭 I watched his video with my sister and we were so hyped! When he did the Seimei pose at the very end with that ‘bang’ it was so incredible. This was such a creative and amazing idea! And he really dedicated himself to carrying it out, changing hair styles, bring completely serious and focused...
  6. Thanks for making this! I especially loved PW in etude, the contrast between the peppy modern music and the elegant costume was just 👌 I found a documentary of the 2013-14 season on youtube, does anyone have an eng sub version? Although I must confess that I still watched the whole 25 min video even without subs...
  7. God, I’d spontaneously combust if he skated to Unravel🥺
  8. I just showed my fifty-ish year old mom Yuzu’s 4CC Chopin and she loved it! Throughout she kept saying, “oh my. OH MY. Look at him jump! So difficult, what if he falls?? He’s only 25, such a young guy, he should be careful!” She couldn’t believe how he was doing the donut spin, “his leg might break! Incredible! How does he do it?!” And when she saw the score and Paul’s commentary said it was a new record she cheered🤗 And when he helped pick up the poohs, that was the final nail that turned my mom into a fan...she laughed and went, “he’s such a good guy!” I’m so glad Yuzu’s performances can speak to people of any age and nationality, I managed to bond a lot with my mom tonight for the first time in a long time.
  9. Seeing Yuzu next to Federer and Djokovic with their millions of followers and his "0" in the following category made me laugh so hard
  10. Way behind this thread...but what in the name of all that is good and holy is THIS??? Iirc, the definition of MVS was something like “engage fan base most and increase interest”? It’s a travesty if anyone other than Yuzu wins it... I was mildly curious about these awards at first, but now I’m gonna riot by...idk Anyways, here’s to hoping Yuzu will get more awards and thus more screen time! It’d be great if he does a cartwheel to mark his dramatic entrance like he did at that award show before.
  11. I’ve been browsing amazon jp and I noticed there’s an option called ‘Used’ for magazines that’s cheaper than the ‘New’ option. If anyone’s bought the used ones, can you tell me what condition they’re in? Like, is it creased or something, the difference between buying used or new? Thanks!
  12. Wow, thanks so much! I feel ready to fearlessly go into the depths of Amazon now.
  13. Thank you! I searched up his name in Japanese on amazon jp but there are so many different magazines I dunno what to get orz Can you still advise me on what to get?😋 Preferably, I want to get something not too expensive, with lots of beautiful photos to flick through and sigh over lol. I don’t think I’ll have to worry about customs offices, they’re a lot less stringent here but thanks for the heads up!
  14. I want to get a magazine or a book or some other Yuzu merch...but I don't know what to get There's also the problem of shipping...do you guys have any advice? Much thanks!
  15. I can attest to do this! My epic journey to becoming a fanyu was leaving the obligatory dislike on YouTube rewind 2019, reading a comment saying Google year in search was better, reading a comment gushing about Yuzu in Year in search and then searching him up, watching his Olympic performances and consequently getting sucked into a black hole of Yuzu vids. The rest is history 😂 This is actually the first time I’ve joined a fan forum or gotten so invested in one thing—I was into kpop before but never so much that I put out a google alert and combed through the internet searching for updates. I’m glad I came across Planet Hanyu, the video archives are super helpful and you guys have helped me understand more about the sport, so thank you!
  16. A bit OT, but I went to change my lenses for the first time in a few years and I discovered that Seiko is a glasses/lens company as well as a watch one because of the numerous times the salesman waxed poetic about it and urged me to buy their lenses. Which got me thinking—Kose, Sekkisei and Ghana have already given Yuzu sponsorships; it’s Seiko’s turn! He already looks stunning in glasses, it’s just taking the logical step.
  17. Sendai is smart to realise what the most photogenic thing in the whole city is..
  18. You're not alone! I too am gripped by a sense of existential dread and general doom and gloom. The only solution is to just not care-- SOMETHING or the other is gonna be working against Yuzu in Montreal. I'm just looking forward to seeing him live again and hoping that he is able to skate to his very best, such that no one is able to deny his greatness. Something which helps in calming me down in these trying times is looping his best performances on repeat; I think I've watched GPF 2015 Seimei a million times by now. In short: KEEP CALM AND WORSHIP YUZU
  19. 1. When I first saw this question, I definitely thought I’d go for option 3, but thinking things over, it’s actually option 2. I discovered figure skating through the Google rewind video with Yuzu, and then I ended up watching all his performances. I researched about scoring and different elements and jumps so that I could understand what was going on. I’ve only been interested in figure skating for a very short period of time, around a year or less maybe, but it’s become something that I enjoy watching. So, if Yuzu retired I would probably not follow every competition with as much intent as I do now, but I would still try to keep up with the important competitions and who’s on top. This would probably only hold for men’s skating though; I tried getting into women’s skating and pairs/ice dance but it just didn’t click for me. 2. I’m not really sure about what the impact would be. I don’t think it’ll be as drastic as figure skating completely “dying” but there will be some impact either way. I’m pretty sure the sheer scale of the pooh bears and the support etc Yuzu receives won’t be matched by anyone for quite some time to come though.
  20. The look on his face...I’m dying of laughter 😂 I hope he’ll do a wild, fun type of program like this again. I love his dramatic (origin, seimei) and serene (Chopin) ones but I adore the ones where he just looks like he’s fully enjoying every single part of the program like LGC and PW.
  21. Thank you for posting such a concise and well articulated summary of what happened.
  22. I dunno why...but I think it’ll definitely be POTO although I’d die if he did LGC or Masquerade. Like, that move when he slides on the ice in LGC is just...
