Just saw the new ANA ad on instagram. It is very cute and lovely. And kind of familiar and intimate (like the green pants in the white wall clip the other day). After a couple of years without travel, it brought back feelings of being ready to go off on an adventure and looking forward to sharing those experiences with someone close to you. I am very much projecting of course - I was right in the middle of planning my first trip in 2 years with my partner when I saw the ad. But I wonder if that's exactly the sentiment they were banking on when they made this. He's great in it. He probably won't but I think he really could do some acting if he wanted one day.

He was teasing a few days ago on instagram in a clip of himself skating and being like "guess the music!". I didn't have sound on but I imagine if it was White Legend he was expecting fanyus to pick up on it straight away. It's a good choice and idea. He had the best skate of his life after Yuzu at Skate Canada a couple of years ago because he just ate up that energy. Getting Yuzu's fans on side and excited by his use of the music might help create the kind of atmosphere that works for him to skate well. He is also pretty openly a Yuzu fan so perhaps it's also a matter of choosing something to inspire himself. Plus, can't go wrong with a version of a warhorse for an Olympic season.

They got 84.03 for their FD at nationals. It's a great program but... Look, if I was there and supposed to be judging I would definitely have stopped paying attention to my job and just been like omg omg daisuke omg that hair omg twizzles omg daisuke takahash- oh s*** I haven't scored anything!!! And quickly make it up. So like I can totally see how it can happen. I'm interested in how they go at a bigger competition.

He transcended himself in 4CC Chopin. I'm not sure there's words for how extraordinarily all of it just came together. H&L from WC17 has that same feeling but even in there one of his jumps isn't Yuzu-perfect and a lot of the feels from that skate came from him catching up after his SP. 4CC Chopin is just magic even without context like H&L. Plus somehow his skating is even better. He carries himself differently now. A new level or type of confidence and it shows.

Maybe Yuzu is to blame. Too much 4A practice tearing all the ice up.
