He finally talked about the product!

I wonder how much Kose had to beg him :10814716:

Although, he didn’t say he used it. To me, it sounds like being drilled in something. Like,

Kose: “....and this is our award winning toner, which is specially blended with a top secret formula to penetrate the skin layer to reduce pigmentation and deeply hydrate and nourish dry skin. It’s an essential part of the Kose skincare range which includes..”

Yuzu (interrupts while furiously copying): “What was that again? Toner?”

    Kose:...

Kose: “Toner. Good for dry skin and stops acne”

    Yuzu: “Got it.”

  2. It sounds like they think Vincent Z is marketable. Heard he’s quite popular in China. It might even be that they think he has potential to be Yuzu 2.0 in terms of star power. He definitely won’t reach Yuzu heights in terms of mania (not unless he gets 2 OGMs), but he might be set up to fill some of the gap when Yuzu r******.

I don’t think I will ever warm up to him. It’s not just his skating, it’s him personally, as uncharitable as it sounds.

You know, I read this sentence with totally no context when scanning unread content and I never clicked on a thread that fast....🤦🏻‍♀️

I agree that Misha's assignments are fine for him. There's no pressure to win against Yuzu, and the NHK and SC fields aren't particularly strong for men. plus if Yuzu bombs and loses to someone, I'd rather it be Misha than anyone else...although Yuzu bombing would probably be followed by Misha bombing if he skated after Yuzu :13877886:I suppose Misha could have challenged for gold against Vincent though, depending on the tech panel...though tbh with Misha you get the feeling that having gold in sight would cause him to do worse, not better.

Alina didn't get Rostelecom either and she's World Champ (nor did Anna Shcherbakova, who is Russian champ). Tbh that's more egregious than Misha not getting it.

According to Megan Duhamel in T*L’s latest show yes I caved Alina as world champ probably didn’t request for RC, and that’s why Med, as the next Worlds ranking Russian skater, got assigned. If true, it might be because she preferred to skate at a place with less pressure. And it’s apparently not uncommon, as according to Megan D, Tatiana/Max asked to skate outside of Russia when they were Pairs champ too.

So I won’t be surprised if, rather than Misha being shafted by his fed, he specifically requested not to be assigned to RC. Competing without the expectations and adoration of a home crowd, and knowing you aren’t expected to win, might do wonders for steadying his competition nerves and building his confidence.

  5. HAN Yan’s back, great news all round.

All round, the men’s field looks quite sane considering what’s happening in ladies; the seeded skaters look like they got even chances. Don’t want to jinx it but I think Yuzu’s ok. Especially NHK where he should get gold  where he should do well considering the field. But ice dance is exciting - French vs Italians vs russians.

  6. Looks like a Shoma love-fest in Russia :67638860:  Happy he's being appreciated over there.

Glad he's settling in well. Can't be easy adjusting to new ways of learning, plus the language barriers and new culture, so props to him for going through with this change.

Can't wait for the new season ! :party2:

The Tsunami warning has been lifted.  It seems some light casualties have been reported so far, but no serious ones, I hope.

Thanks for your concerns for Japan, guys :thanks:

Glad to hear it wasn’t serious.

  8. SP Modern and contemporary. Something strong and “kakkoii”. Modern jazz or Woodkid-type of music.

FP Classical, romantic and sweeping. Something Japanese like Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence or Spartacus by Khatchaturian or Rach2

EX Kurimemo - he’ll reuse it so that he can concentrate his energies on the new competitive programs

    (RIP Masquerade. You’ll be missed)

If he has halfway decent financial manager he'll be fine. He's almost certainly made a lot more money by 24 than your average person would in a lifetime, even accounting for the skating expenses. He also doesn't strike me as someone with extravagant spending habits--the only thing he might have to cut back on are earbud purchases

well, that ESPN Worlds's Most Famous 100 Athletes list from this year has estimated the value at his endorsements at aporx.14 mil $,so they might've done some research since on the last year's top they listed the value as not known.(and if iirc the espn list came up before the Kose deal). Also i remember reading somewhere that his donation to Sendai area only are estimated at aprox 1 mil $ so far which is still pretty huge from an athlete coming from such a niche expensive sport. There were rumors last year that 20 companies were fighting for having him signed and I guess Kose won.Everything seems to indicate that he's already at the point where he won't need to worry for his financial future bc he comes from a down to earth, modest family who won't start to spend on ridiculous things as luxury yachts and sports cars. And it's not like his endorsements will stop tomorrow or the day of his ret******t,he will stil have very lucrative deals years after that with how famous he is.Unless something unimaginably bad happens,he's gonna be set for life financially speaking and that's what he deserves. And given who he is and what he's achieved and how much he has given back, there will always be ppl willing to offer him a good job/position if somehow he'll absurdly find himself in the situation to need it

Yes, all signs are there that he’ll be fine - modest lifestyle, not particularly interested in extravagant nonsense (earphones are nothing, really)

I read somewhere (sorry I can't find the Japanese article anymore), that the Kose deal was 300 million yen ( that is almost 3m USD) and only short term, but since sales have been rocketing, Kose is very eager to renew the contract. I mean they have literally hang Yuzu from top to bottom at Haneda airport, around Japan, all over HK airport, many places in China and other cities around Asia. I don't think I have seen Kose went this crazy with an advertisement campaign ever before. Although I don't know whether this conflicts with P&G. Does P&G also have a cosmetic line?

Kose has other skaters too right? Marin and Rika too if I’m not wrong. But think Yuzu is the only male celebrity?

Imagine Yuzu’s face when the offer was first mooted  :dislike: “you want me to blog about my beauty routine?”

now i'm really curious about the status of his general partnership with P&G

I’ve always been curious about his endorsements. Word was that he has a self imposed limit of 5 sponsors as he didn’t want to be distracted with too many commitments. Also, he apparently chooses endorsements he believes in/could use? Not sure if this is just fan fuelled rumours or something he personally confirmed.

About the end of Yuzu Days, does this mean the end of just the publication, or the end of the sponsorship by P&G altogether? I’m also wondering if Kose is the start of a longer multi-year sponsorship or just a once-off thing.

curious how he / his brand is perceived and his commercial value now that there’s a possibility of r*****ment in the near future....hoping he never ever has to worry about his financial future once he hangs up his skating boots
