I wonder what Trusova and the other young quadsters think about this. Eteri's method (multiple runthoughs + adding a 3T or 3L to every jump during practice) can help them achieve otherworldly consistency but it can cause lasting damage to their body. Maybe Eteri will change her training approach, but who knows.
Wow.. I wish you were my teacher back then. If I'm not mistaken, the men's event occurred during the Chinese new year, right? Were there no holiday for your school?
I still think that jumping quads among adult women may not become a trend before the triple axel does... It is already hard for them to land consistent triple axels, let alone quads...
I don't think Eteri would do that... Medvedeva can still win in season 18/19 as it is likely that the backloading of program would not be allowed (which affects Zagitova more).
That is really a good idea. But I cannot recall when the last time was when a Russian skater left Russia to train with foreign coaches. And from rumours in GS, it is unlikely that the Rus Fed likes this idea. I think Medvedeva is rich enough to support herself financially (with all those ice shows and advertisements XD), hence the move.
Regarding Zhenya being very consistent, isn't it easier to be consistently landing your jumps if the jumps are smaller, prerotated and muscled? If Yuzu prerotates his triple axel, he would already have landed a quad axel.
