The hospital that I work at (in downtown Toronto) actually ran out of vaccine and had to cancel a bunch of vaccine appointments for the weekend.  (It was actually in the news and my hospital’s

CEO as well as Ontario’s premier were on TV and Twitter expressing their dismay).  

But somehow last evening they learned that another hospital that is around 1 hour drive from downtown had unfilled appointment slots and contacted us to tell us to get the vaccine there.  I live in between downtown and the other hospital, so it ended up being a 30 minute drive for me which worked out super well.

It’s amazing how the hospitals work together to help vaccinate as many people and not waste any vaccine.  I have hope that everything will work out in the end because we are all so resilient!

I work as an inpatient hospital pharmacist and I just got my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today!  On my drive home from the vaccine clinic, I got a bit emotional and shed a tear thinking back to the hard work that frontline health care workers and first responders have put in this far, how COVID has taken so many lives, how COVID has taken away our social lives, Yuzu’s message to health care workers....and how this vaccine could be the beginning of the end to all of this. 😭

The vaccination clinic was well run and very efficient.  I got in and out in 30 minutes (which included 15 minutes of sitting down and waiting to ensure I don’t have any serious reaction).

My coworkers who got the vaccine a few days ago report just having sore arm for 1-2 days and no other symptoms.  They said the sore arm is a bit worse than the flu vaccine but not too bad.

Just thinking back to the music and costume reveals a few nights ago, it was so much fun and hilarious!  Thanks to Yuzu for bringing us so much fun  and entertainment not just with your skating!

oh man, the threads are moving too fast for me to keep up already 😅, and nothing has been revealed yet really (other than he won’t jump 4A in this comp)

I have to work on Dec 25-28 

Not sure if I can forego my sleep during those days to watch JNats coz it will be busy in the hospital pharmacy and it’s quite stressful at work.  But I’m not sure how I can concentrate at work either!  I will have lieu days off after that to catch up on all the info explosion on Twitter, competition threads etc!  
 

I think we will have new programs and new costumes, and new layout!  (If he is indeed competing).

 
I don’t think he will put in a safe, “watered down” layout just because he knows he can win with a safer layout.  He is still competing because he wants new challenges.  He has already won the biggest prizes in figure skating (in terms of medals).  He wants to surpass Nathan in order to be the “absolute champion” who wins no matter that, and also, more importantly, to surpass himself and reach his ideal self.

I am not artistic and have no photo editing skills but here is my birthday message to Yuzuru:

Dear Yuzuru,

Your skating touches my heart and your hard work inspires me every day.  

On this special day, please know that you are the light to so many people around the world and your hard work is not in vain!  Your fans will continue to support and cheer for you!

Missing Yuzuru hour 

There hasn’t been a white wall video in October yet, right?  There are only a few days left....he must know we are all drying out, right?  Usually he is pretty good with giving us crumbs just when we are about to dry to death 

Oh, bb RJ1 is so cute!

I am using the Sekkisei toner and emulsion but just the regular blue one which is much cheaper than the Miyabi line.  They work well on my skin!  The emulsion one is quite good value for money since it’s 140 mL which is huge.

My family is in Hong Kong which has the Yuzu Sekkisei boxes available by lottery, so I could have entered if I want them.  But I am thinking the only reason I want them is for the box, and I can easily design and print card boxes with Yuzu’s face on it for a lot less money!  So I am not going to enter the lottery!

It looks to me that his face got a bit chubbier in the earlier months (probably Mama Hanyu and family were pampering him) but then in the last several months his face got thinner again (probably working hard on his thesis and skating training?)

I am glad that Yuzu has made the wise decision to opt out of this mess!

If not already landed then it must be even closer than before!  He finished his thesis analyzing his own 3A using AI In July and he plans to focus on skating in August, so he will surely be incorporating what he learned from his thesis!  Thus, his thesis serves dual purpose.  His galaxy brain

So today I was buying something  in Walmart and to my surprise I saw Sekkisei products in the skincare section!  I haven’t seen Sekkisei in Toronto before except on the Shoppers Drug Mart website or those independent Japanese cosmetic stores that are owned by Chinese (in those stores the price is always jacked up).

The Walmart also has some Korean skin care products such as innisfree and Missha.

The Walmart is in Markham (in Markville Mall) which has a large Asian / Chinese population though so maybe not THAT surprising, but I would have never expected to see Walmart selling Sekkisei products!

(As a price reference, for the clear bright mask, here it is selling for $39.97 ($231 HKD) where as in Hong Kong it sells for $190 HKD.  So Hong Kong is like -20%).  Obviously here they do not carry a large variety of products.  I stocked up when I was in Japan/Hong Kong in January so I should have enough for a while but I am not sure  when I can go there next....

I am sort of wondering the same thing, that the “switch” to give the MVS to Yuzuru instead of Nathan was a last minute change.  Like, ISU is taking a big hit financially, losing sponsors and all, and someone finally realize that Yuzu is only going to stick around for 2 more years at most and the fanyus are the ones who bring in the cash.  So they realize that they only have 2 more years to make the most money they can, in order to dig themselves out of the current financial hole, and they cannot afford to lose the hanyuconomy?  If this is the case, will they finally score him a bit more fairly? (Or, probably just my wishful thinking....)

Thinking about what Yuzu will do next season is SCARY.  Like, we thought that there was a chance for 4A to show up in Montreal Worlds.  He has so much time to train for it now....will it finally show up next season?  The fact that nobody knows anything about next season makes it a bit more scary!

Ugh I have been restraining myself from buying these photo books but I don’t know If I can stop myself any more!!

Is Amazon.jp still shipping to Canada it is it gonna take a long time to arrive?  Or should I wait till I have a chance to go to Japan again (obviously not sure when that can happen given the COVID situation).  The books are heavy tho so maybe better to have them shipped?

Talking about how smart Yuzu is regarding his studies (straight A student), in this old video around 5:00 minute mark, it is really interesting to see that he uses the colour coding in his study notes (red = answer or important things, blue = question, green = his own thoughts after listening to the lecture).  It seems like he is the type of student who truly digests and internalizes the material and almost re-thinks concepts into his own way?  (Rather than most students who tend to just try to remember or regurgitate the material).  I think that’s why he can be those type of people who maybe does not need to use a lot of time to study. (this type of classmates are annoying!  Coz I would be so jealous of them)

Also, I have a headache looking at those math formulas in his university handout!  He is such a smart kid!

Also, all those skating notebooks at time 24:00 in the video - imagine getting your hands on those!  The ultimate handbook of figure skating volumes 1 to 5 (and counting).

Figure skating itself should be both artistic and technical - a figure skater should strive to have both.  Therefore the judging should be based on who can combine these two the best.  Separating them is like judging a cooking competition for taste and presentation separately....so a cook can win for presentation and the food can taste like sh**.  Or the food can taste great but look like sh**.  It just doesn’t make any sense!  A skater should work towards having the complete package.  That’s the beauty of this sport.  If the current judging is fixed then they wouldn’t need to make this stupid change (and Yuzu would be the winner).
