  1. Maxim Kovtun. It’s been so long since I last heard of him. Just hearing his name makes me miss past skaters from the post-Sochi era; skaters like Patrick Chan, Javi Fernandez, Denis Ten, Misha Ge, and Han Yan
  2. It’s kind of frustrating to read some of the comments at other forums about skating fanbases. It’s true that every fanbase has their fair share of bad apples, that’s a complaint I can acknowledge. However, most of us are not saying NC did not deserve to win (let alone are we “hating” on him), we’re just upset about ISU’s inability to follow their own rules and always giving out +5 GOEs to jumps that have little to no transitions. All we ask is that they judge all skaters accordingly, per the written standards. And yes, most of the people going after ISU are fanyus, but can you blame us when we’re literally the biggest fanbase right now (there’s thousands, possibly millions of us out there all riled up, so of course we’ll stand out). We’re only asking for positive changes to be made, changes that will even benefit their favorite skaters and many future skaters to come. No more politicking; no more corruption. Just be fair to every athlete, please.
  3. I know this is off topic but I am so fortunate to be a fan of Yuzuru Hanyu. It's just so exciting to follow an athlete who is always striving to be better and lives up to the challenge. I can still remember stumbling across his Parisian Walkways program back in 2014 and was spellbound by his skating. He has come such a long way and as a fan, I couldn't be more proud of him. I don't think the figure skating world will ever have a male skater that can match up to Yuzuru's caliber and popularity. He has solidified his place forever in figure skating history, and I just know that even many years after his retirement, they will still continue to speak highly of him and his record-breaking achievements. But I digress, I know we're only halfway through this season but who's excited about next season? I'm guessing he will have new programs and if so, I really want to see Yuzuru skate to a jazz or tango program! With his skating style, he can totally pull it off.
  4. It breaks my heart that some fanyus vandalized a historic building because they were upset at ISU. I wish some fans can find better ways to express themselves. Isn't one of the reasons why we support Yuzuru so much is because he is a respectable, kind, and considerate person? Why can't some fans follow his example? I just don't want this to affect Yuzuru since I know people will always find a way to use this as an excuse to hate him even more.
  5. My bet is still on Parisienne Walkways for the gala (that is if Yuzuru decides to attend the gala). But can you guys imagine the screams if Yuzuru does skate to Parisienne Walkways? They are going to need 100 ambulances on standby.
  6. Hmmm, well if that's the case, come back next season, Yuzuru. Not like you don't have to but ya know...if that's what you want then who am I to judge you
  7. I'm fine with Yuzuru being extra and then coming back to the ice like, "SYKE! Miss me?" At this point, I'll believe in anything if it means Yuzuru will still come back for another season
  8. I am so sad to hear about his injury. Knowing how much Yuzuru loves to skate at home, it must have been hard for him to withdraw. I hope he doesn't take it too personally and beat himself over it. We fans understand that health comes first and the Olympics is what really matters here. Getting another gold medal at an annually competition like the GPF can wait. If anything, I don't think this will affect his consistency but instead further push him to fight for that gold medal at Pyeongchang. Get well soon, Yuzuru!
  9. Was my eyes tripping me or did I saw Frank Carroll at the sides watching Yuzuru's SP?
  10. I like to think I'll become a figure skating veteran after Yuzuru r******, like I will still be around appreciating the sport and its athletes because Yuzuru made me a fan of it. But I don't ever see myself favoring another skater as did with Yuzuru, that's for sure.
  11. I know, right? This was something I can never say back at the GS forum because it will get people riled up and they'll burn me at the stake for it I knew he was going to delay his retirement. He loves this sport too much let it go at the age of 23.
  12. People can keep criticizing the fanbase and claim it ruined the figure skating experience, but seriously, if it wasn't for Yuzuru, I wouldn't even take interest in figure skating and notice other skaters. He broke records and got journalists talking around the world. He's often trending on social media and the general public sees that. His fans are everywhere and people are wondering what he is all about. So I think it's safe to say Yuzuru is mainly responsible for popularizing this sport again.
  13. Hi everyone! I've been a Yuzuru fan for almost 4 years and often used the GS forum to voice my support for Yuzuru. I signed in the GS forum today and was confused with the new Yuzuru fanfest and lack of posts after the CoR, but now I know why Thank you for making a forum that is solely dedicated to the one and only, Yuzuru Hanyu. Finally, we no longer have to deal with the hate back at GS
