  1. I don't think either this or the Boyang hug got broadcast live, but there were cameras in the green room and I guess either TV stations had their own cameras or they had access to the footage from the official cameras. The Yuzu and Javi moment first got broadcast by NTV, as a small filler after the flower ceremony (I think?) and then again in a news show, but it was shorter. This version was uploaded by NBC on their site (but as it was geoblocked, fans shared it in other ways). The Boyang hug I think was broadcast by CCTV, probably as part of their review coverage? (And I can't put in words what this scene does to me...)
  2. Sorry, been on standby trying to survive this weekend lol I guess some of how it goes will depend on whether Yuzu will be there or not. Though Brian and probably Tracy will be there. We'll see. I still want to do something, badly. Even if it'll end up just being mailed. Or even e-mailed. lol TCC was absolutely awesome this Olympics and they deserve all the praise and recognition, IMO.
  3. I don't think he'll give up without a fight. That's just who he is. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he won't make overcoming this injury his goal, before 4A. That said, it's not uncommon for athletes to suffer career ending injuries. And even if he heals now, his ankles and knees are already sensitive from multiple injuries. Sadly, that's an athlete's life. But I don't think he'll give up until he really won't have any other choice. As for flag bearer, I think he'll want to do it, especially since it might be his last chance (even if he heals, he might not continue to Beijing). It'd mean a lot to him. Same with gala actually...
  4. Personally, I choose to interpret that doctor statement as more of a "I'm sorry, but this is as good as it can be at this point, under these circumstances". That could be too much positive thinking, but... yeah. It'd be incredibly ironic, though... after Sochi, he was saying he definitely doesn't want to compete beyond Pyeongchang. But now that he does, this happens. I do know he'll do everything possible and impossible to heal, though. PS: on Hero's they had footage of Daisuke Takahashi reaction from the audience and he was crying. I would have loved a hug between them, too...
  5. He got that after Sochi, too. In the middle of a press conference, even, I think. But he's huge. I mean Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree were lit up in Olympic and gold colors to celebrate his second OGM.
  6. I know... I hope it all works out... somehow. Maybe he'll go to Japan on Monday, do an MRI, then Tuesday JSF issues a statement that they identified the problem, give it some fancy name and say he needs to stop quads and triple axels for two weeks, then it's all good. Best fanfic ever!
  7. I don't think selling will be possible, to be honest. Lots of people would. I also think he won't withdraw until the last moment, because he feels the responsibility. I... want him to do what's best. IF he heals enough, it'd be best to get into it again. If not, stay home and relax. For me, I don't want to mourn yet ^_^; I'm not ready to. I still hope they'll at least motivate Javi to go... (NHK was easier, too, because it was Japan... I'm sorry to say this, but I don't really have any interest in Milan >_<) As for the injury, I always said he'll do the Olympics even if he's not healed. Because this event was a do or die for him. It was worth risking his career for. I'm super happy he wants to continue, but I think he pushed so hard so that in case it turns into a career ending injury, he won't have many regrets. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for him and it makes everything much more precious. (And thinking how close he came to losing despite it all, when his ankle started giving out...) I'm sure the xray talk - and we have to remember, English-Japanese-English etc. so he might have meant or said MRI from the beginning - is about his condition now, after pushing through. In a way, I was happy not to see him in crutches again, though I almost wish they strapped him to a wheelchair until he can get checked, but I think he won't get checked and won't let up his 'public performance' - meaning he's probably still on painkillers - until he finishes most of his press assignments. I'm hoping Kobayashi-san and co are still on it and they're cramming everything up in these days, so he can go start taking care of himself asap.
  8. I'm not sure how skipping the gala at the Olympics would work... I mean... it's the Olympics. So I think he might do a no jumps Swan. However, there's a week to go still and with how much media they've crammed into yesterday and today, I think he might go to Japan and do his check-up, then come back for the gala, then go off to heal. Ideally in Toronto. (Javi also said he's going to Spain today, but I doubt he'd skip the gala either, so they might both be back then...) Honestly, I can't bear to think about Milan now. I want Yuzu to do what's best for himself, but after NHK and with personal issues, I kind of want him in Milan even if he does jumpless Chopin and Seimei. It's Yuzu so it would still be spectacular. We'll see. I don't want to think about it.
  9. Yuzuru seriously needs to write a figure skating manual at some point... "How to become an Olympic and World Champion - a secret guide to the ideal life of a figure skater" (because it goes so much beyond just practice for him lol)
  10. Honestly, I think Yuzu would be thrilled. I have been worrying a bit about how Yuzu will cope without the Javi challenge. There is Jun and Stephen, but they're still young and I'm not sure Yuzu can use them for his getting his image habit. He could probably use Nathan, especially once Brian used his magic. He'd also be super, mega challenged by Nathan there. But it would be hard for Brian, I guess. And it would be hard for Nathan, because he'd have to take it slowly and I'm not sure he's up for that, unless he decides to stay until Beijing. (Which is not to say I would be super happy about it lol But I think Yuzu would love it.)
  11. I think the press conference might have also been a cathartic experience for him. Getting closure for the injury period, by talking about it openly, and being able to completely put it behind him. He looked beautiful and soft and strong and really positive in that press conference. The video especially. He looked clear and calm and "yes, it was hard, but I'm here now". And a bit like what Brian said: a man on a mission.
  12. Oh, thank you for providing the summary, it slipped my mind, since it really wasn't a big deal. But whoever came up with that title... It's hilarious! Someone needs to take this and have fun with it! I wonder if Javi and Sonia have seen it LOL Beware of Winnie the Pooh! ETA: Oh, I know! It's revenge for this:
  13. Thank you very much! I wonder if this is an upgrade from Kikuchi the Warlock... (though I'm pretty sure they're not serious this time lol) Now I want someone to take pictures of Yuzu hitting Javi with a Winnie plushy Or like that Winnie punch with Nobu lol Also, I guess this shows how the PR machine works in different countries. In the US it's Nathan vs Yuzu and maybe Shoma. In Japan it's Yuzu vs Nathan and Shoma. In Spain it's apparently Yuzu vs. Javi. But it's pretty obvious what all the PR machines have in common...
  14. They obviously like Nathan. But very little coverage for Boyang and Javi - although all the media was there when Javi arrived, I don't think he appeared on any of the news reports... (it could also be they worried about permission and such, since Japan is strict about stuff like that, though). Actually, in general, I expected Javi to be more popular in Japanese media than he is. However, it is a bit amusing how it's ALL Yuzu now. (And OT, but I think part of the outrage about Patrick beating Adam is also due to Adam's popularity with the non-fans in the lead-up to the Olympics. People know him, they've heard about him, it's easy to say: it's the openly gay skater who went against Mike Pence, and so he's easier to sympathize with. While, despite Patricks's status among FS fans, the average non-fan has no idea who he is. I do find it a bit ironic, since 4 years ago, some were saying Yuzu shouldn't have won over Patrick because Yuzu fell while Patrick didn't really.) And I finally managed to watch the press conference. I wonder how Yuzu feels about his translators... Sometimes (like this time), it feels like he could probably manage just as well if not better on his own. (Though it would have been a waste of energy at this point.) Aside from that, I loved how 'worried? who? me? Nah, I'm just having the time of my life!' he was lol. He seems a bit more... mature, somehow? While still very cute and precious... Also, listening with proper volume, I think the mumbled bit after Thank you was in German! (Why no Spanish, Yuzu? Just what was Javi doing during 14 hours of flying? :P)
  15. And maybe Pyeongchang IS Spring compared to Toronto? Didn't they say it's been super cold there this winter?
  16. But it's an iconic phrase, befitting an Ice King
  17. I'm sorry, for some reason, mozilla failed to inform me there were replies, even though I had the tab open all weekend >_< I'm not entirely sure what to put in the poll, that's why I didn't do it yet lol But yes, something like that, I think. I saw an engraving trophy like those, too, but it was pretty big and very expensive. And checking the website for that shop, they don't even have them there. Trophies are cheaper, but they do generally really look like plastic and they're quite generic. The medals are cheap and probably look it, too... Example of the biggest (7cm, 5m diameter of available text space): But also, a medal only works nicely if it's in a medal case and can be displayed - and ideally never touched again, to realize it's plastic :P. So one of those engraved things might be best after all... I'll see if I can find other nicer ones, too... for the banner, I think there will be plenty of fans from the first practices and until the end of FS... we don't have any guarantee we'll run into anyone from TCC to give it personally anyway, so worst case, we can mail them later... However we do it, there'll always be people who won't be able to sign anyway... I don't know. I was also very lazy this weekend... I had started searching for TCC pictures, but then stopped and yesterday was all the Yuzu stuff... I had wanted to do a mock-up of the way I visualize the banner, but... yeah. I guess until next Saturday it'll be hard for any of us to really think of this lol
  18. You're right. He seems so calm and not really nervous at all. Excited and such, yes, but not nervous, I think. Like Brian said, they have a plan, they're sticking to it and everything is currently according to plan. That's what it feels like... I think we're probably a lot more nervous than he is right now...
  19. Unless he asks it not to be, I'm pretty sure there will be...
  20. Yes, to all of that. The only problem is that 40 minutes a day practice is very little compared to what he's used to. So I was thinking he might skip practice on days when it's not on the main rink, and go to the Seoul rink I assume JSF has rented and spend more time practicing there. But who knows... maybe Brian will actually advise taking it easier and focusing on just those 40 minutes. Saying that the intense training is done, now he just has to maintain shape and figure out his condition and such.
  21. Actually, if they don't do any training in Seoul - and from Jack's schedule it seems they might not - it's definitely better to get the trip to Gangneung done now, then get tired again on the next days... I do think he'll be quite ninja in the village, though...
  22. It's totally OT, but most people just want to be loved by a lot of people and completely underestimate everything else that fame implies (also most idols, in Japan at least, enter that path when they are barely teens and know very little of what being an idol implies; sorry, but this reminded me of all those times some people point how little freedom idols have, and all those other people saying well, they chose to be idols. Like 14 year olds and younger can really understand what they're choosing >_<) Now... we have to wait till Monday evening to see him again? LOL
