This is funny! I heard Shoma arrived in Finland earlier than the other skaters and did his final practice for WC in Tuusula, a village not far from Helsinki. He could have spent probably two weeks in Finland.

Sorry for late reply. I´ve always been nervous for my favorite skaters and so it is going to be this season too. I just try to accept that and hope for the best. Compared to previous Oly season this one is different for Yuzu and for his fans too, at least for me. In Sochi many expected Patrick to take the gold though Yuzu did beat him in GPF. Now Yuzu is the favorite, but I believe it is not a disadvantage for him. Mentally he has gone through a lot after Sochi and knows well what he is capable of. I guess Shoma is now in the same kind of a position where Yuzu was in Sochi. At the moment I feel very optimistic for Yuzu because of the last season in spite of the fact that it was difficult for him. The quads made it hard but anyway in the end he learned what he wanted to learn, made progress and managed to win the most important competitions GPF and WC. That is a very good sign imo. In Helsinki he showed such mental strength that makes me feel less nervous for the Oly season. He surely keeps in mind how he trained hard, prepared for the competition and how he found the mood for the clean FS in Helsinki, working hard with the music, like he said afterwards. He is also the best male skater overall so there are good reasons to feel optimistic imo. The quad battle makes the situation unpredictable though, but the quads are risky for each skater. The more quads, the more risks. We´ll see what happens when the season begins.

Sorry for late reply. This piece is also my dream for Yuzu. I suggested it here earlier and feel he would like the piece and make a wonderful Chopin like program with it. P/C is my favorite ice dance couple. They are so special. I like their Mozart program very very much but I prefer even more their FD from season 2015-16. For me that choreo by Marie-France is the best ice dance choreo of all times and their performance was so stunning, I have watched their performance many many times. That program surely is in my "figure skating heaven."

I tried to find Yoshitsune music in Youtube and found Moon Saga Mysteries of Yoshitsune ST by Gackt. Beautiful music indeed. Do you mean this or something else?
-
Sorry for being unclear. This is exactly what I meant. I was saying the suggestions from June 8th and 9th are posted later than the tweet so probably they would not be the correct ones. I also prefer Japanese music for him.
-
Yes someone suggested Gerswin music, there was a link to Youtube 2015 NHK Gala/Exhibition Finale with Rhapsody in Blue. Also Dance Macabre was there.
-
Thank you! The tweet is from June 8th if I understood correctly. I didn´t remember the date exactly, just thought it was here about two weeks ago. Anyway, only the last suggestion of the list, Outlander, is from June 9th, Ice Castle ST and Taiga drama music from June 8th.
-
Thanks! Actually I think I have been lucky. I mostly picked pages here and there and happened to find many music discussions. I believe there is much more before the page 1000 and after the page 2110 that I have not looked at at all.

I found some more music suggestions in GS Yuzu FF. There seem to be really lots of them altogether because I found so many though started from the page 1000 and have not browsed through the thread page by page (except pages 1946-2110). Very happy about OP in early August. Hopefully only a month to wait for FS news. I wonder if FS is Seimei2, why he didn´t tell it out already. I don´t mean skating the program in FaOI but only saying that it´s going to be Seimei2. To focus on Chopin and ice shows or why? Actually I have started to believe more and more that it will be something new. I will stop this crazy search now, have no time for this anymore. In spite of the fact that this list of suggestions does not make us any wiser about the FS music, it has been interesting to find out what kind of music fans would like him to skate. I will surely keep listening to these pieces though it might be that his choice is not here. Here´s everything that I found: Page 1955: RJ1 Page 1964: Einaudi: Experience Page 2044: La la land (?) Here are some more pieces that are mentioned at Yuzu´s Golden Skate FF (+ the earlier list). Not sure if I understood everything correctly. Yes, the balance is important. He surely chooses a piece that inspires him and serves him both in technical and artistic content. I presume the music choice is very important for a skater like Yuzu because he really wants to express all the nuances of the piece he is skating to. If the music feels right for him it is of course easier to bring the most out of it and also to forget the pressure.
-
Yes, Firebird is truly "out of ordinary music" but still a warhorse. I have seen his program but didn´t remember it. It must Nanami´s choice because he was so young then. Pieces that he has chosen himself are not that complicated imo.

If you want to look there is a vid of Anissina/Peizerat FD to Dance of the Knights (DotK) in YT. Also Ashley has skated to Prokovjev´s RJ but not to DotK. It is in YT too. I listened to Tybalt/Mercurio piece and liked the variations of the main phrase a lot. I I listened also to a few other pieces of the ballet. It seems that the phrase with it´s different variations is a kind of clue of the whole ballet. I believe Yuzu has not skated to Prokovjev type of music before. In most pieces there are lots of unpredictable turns in melodies and also the harmonies are often complicated but DotK is different in that sense. Yuzu has always preferred very clear and fluent melodies with familiar harmonies. I do hope he reveals his FS music in Niigata. I believe that if it is Seimei2, he might let us know it. If he says nothing, maybe we will see a new program or maybe still Seimei2. People were talking earlier about both SLB and DW making choreos for Yuzu. I wonder is SL making Seimei2 and DW a new program and Yuzu decides between them when he gets back to Toronto.

In GS someone suggested RJ3 with Prokovjev´s RJ ballet piece Dance of the Knights. What do you think, could Yuzu choose it? Would the piece suit for his skating style? I find the beat a bit too heavy but I think it could be possible. Maybe better together with some other piece from the same ballet, because in Dance of the Knights the main phrase is repeated many times.

I was looking at the GS thread yesterday and today. At first I picked pages here and there and was lucky to find these pages with music conversation quicky. I will probably wait for Niigata news before searching more.

Xen, are you still making a list of GS suggestions? Because of no news about LP music from Kobe and because I am very curios about it, I started to check GS and went through pages 1000-1010. It takes a lot of time to go through the whole threa If more people get interested in doing this it would be of course easier. This is what I found from pages 1000-1010: Bach: Chaconne, Partita No. 2 BWV 1004 Man in the Iron Mask OST: The Palace, All for One Twelve Kingdoms Opening Merry Xmas, Mr Lawrence Spirited Away OST: Inochi no Namae ( Double Circle) Prokovjev: Dance of the Knights, RJ3 Japanese Taiko drum music Wadaiko Matsuriza: Kabuki Gomen-Jyo Kodo: O`Daiko Tartini: Violin Sonata in G minor Einaudi: Experience, Violin Sonata, Andare, Burning, Night, Life Elgar: Violin Sonata Nathan Lanier: Torn Rachmaninov: PC 3 for LP, Dance Hongroise for SP, Prelude in F for cello and piano for EX Mission Impossible 2 Kara no Kyoukai OST: Thanatos Wagakki Band: Strong Fate, Akatsuki no Ito, Nijiro Chouchou, Tsuki Kage Mai Ka, Hangeki no Yaiba Lord of the Dance: Warriors, Victory, Firedance Carmina Burana mentioned as Brian´s earlier suggestion for Yuzu´s FS

Thanks gladi for Brian´s interview. There must be lots of fans who believed in H&L and loved the piece from the beginning. Great that Yuzu chose this untypical, dreamy Japanese piece. I don´t know about his singing skills but he sure is musical and knows what kind of music suit for him.

I´d like to hear your thoughts about what Yuzu needs to be consistent next season. He will be well-trained and so in top shape of course. In Ice Jewel he talked about Medvedeva´s consistency and said he has a lot to learn from her on the mental side. What is the secret for her being so consistent in each competition? I remember her saying once that she does not think so much, she just skates. Yuzu said the same thing in Helsinki right after the FS was over. He said he forgot everything and " I just worked with the music". I have been wondering how on earth he got the mood for the clean H&L after 5th position in SP. Ice jewel gave some answers: " ... the strong urge to stand up to challenge came to the forefront. Above all, it was because this competition happened precisely as my second half 4S had begun to stabilize. Especially with confidence in the second half 4S, I could focus on each aspect, listening properly to the sound of the music… and if I can try my best that way, I was thinking I could go clean. So first of all, I landed the beginning 4Lo and 4S, and then I focused on riding the momentum." About SP at WTT he said that he had a strong feeling that he has to go clean and felt a lot of pressure. Seems like Medvedeva does not let anything to disturb her concentration. I was very surprised in Helsinki that she could make a clean FS right after Pogorilaja´s unlucky skate.

He revealed SP Chopin3 very early compared to other seasons. Just thinking, could this be because he thought it would rise at least some debate. It would calm down during the summer so he would not have to face questions about repeating when the season begins. If LP is Seimei 2, he might reveal it for the same reason early during FaOI. For me Seimei 2 is really fine. If this is his choice he surely is still inspired by the music.

I agree. I would like to see the whole skater, not only upper bodies or faces, through the performance especially in the competitions. Also the skycam and quick changes of camera angles bother me because they cut the performance into pieces and parts of it are missed. This happened a lot in Helsinki. I was there but afterwards watched many shootings. Many times I felt like instead of the actual performance I am watching the camera team´s interpretation of the performance. Imo skycams, upper body shootings etc belong only to ice shows and exhibitions. Actually I sent feedback to YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company. I quess they had ISU´s approval, so ISU should get notice about this too if people don´t want this kind of camera work at OG and in the future.

Thanks for your post! I read it right after I had already posted mine. I was wondering what else did she say and did we made right conclusions about the tweet.
-
Imo she should have told more what she means if she speaks in public about things like arrogance and bad western influence. I also think it is about skaters showing their emotions, making own decisions about training, outfit and programs and telling their own opinions. Yuzu is that kind of a person but it is not arrogance, it is about being yourself. Sad to hear about the difficulties between different skating areas in Japan. It is hard to understand this kind of rivalry. I probably had nothing new to say about this subject, but here´s a clip of an article released after Sochi. Someone of us brought up here earlier, thanks. "I think, probably, I was burned out after the season ended. But, because there was an ice show only three days after the Worlds, (including other events) and I had other work as well, I did not realize that I was burned out. At ice shows, everyone in the audience would welcome me as the Olympic champion..... After experiencing this, motivation to 'work hard' started to boil. For the first time, I felt I was able to show my true self."

Thanks, I have actually not studied the contents of the rule change so I can´t say anything about it yet. I do hope that also the ceiling on PCS is going to be raised.
-
Thanks for the reply, also to LadyLou on your earlier reply on this topic. Yes, my questions are probably irrelevant because of the coming rule change. I´m not upset nor see Chopin3 as a problem because the rules allow it at the moment. I was wondering what kind of influence this choice might have in the future of this sport. Maybe none, I don´t know, but if Yuzu gets what he wants at OG, many skaters might like to follow his way of doing things. Would they start keeping and polishing their programs more often for two or three seasons. Would this polishing be a good thing and produce better programs or could the programs turn out to be kind of "Olympic period warhorses". Would ISU allow this or change the rules and restrict the reuse for two seasons or start giving deductions etc. These kind of questions came to my mind.
-
Thanks for your reply. Yes I know that many skaters use their programs on two seasons and for me that is fine. I was wondering could the quad era make many skaters reuse programs for three times like Yuzu is doing and what that would mean to figure skating in general.
