  1. Sharing a screenprint I made of Yuzuru last year inspired by his journey going into these Olympics, he truly marks his hope and legacy in the sport of figure skating from winning the gold medal again!
  2. Thanks so much for all the updates with news, translations, links and photos, guys! I truly hope that Yuzu can just be happy whatever he decides to do after these Olympics and rests plenty with the thoughts of all the people/coaches/fans/family that love and support him over those who feel the opposite. - I'm not sure where to post this but I managed to download and cut the KBS (Korean broadcast) version of both Yuzu's SP and FS which I found on their 'olympic highlights': KBS Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Highlights, Yuzuru Hanyu SP KBS Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Highlights, Yuzuru Hanyu FS Since I don't understand korean, if anyone could translate what they said -that would be cool! Also how can you embed an instagram post into a forum post here?
  3. Count me in, I was totally worried for his FS and medal chances too! But I felt like this time he was not caught up on winning the OGM again as much as everyone else wanted him to win it again. Yuzu seemed so content, happy and appreciative to be able to skate at this event, seen in the past two days. This time Yuzuru really displayed his pure love and joy for skating to the world, the media and to fans. My predictions are that Sendai will give him a parade regardless of other gold medalists! It'll be another wild celebration! Also almost time for the medal ceremony, staying up late tonight to watch it and so excited to see his smile!
  4. Omg, this extact same situation happened just moments ago with my other friend!! She asked if Nathan's the main skater that I like who's retiring these Olympics, I told her that he's super young and has a long way to go.
  5. I bet it'll be crazy when Yuzu arrives in person at the airport! I've been avoiding going on other forums for now cause there's probably tons of skating drama; otherwise, it's great that the attention can still be on him even when he's hasn't skated yet! (Still need to get the time to watch the ceremony, looks exciting though!!)
  6. Definitely! Brian's Olympic experience as both a skater and coach multiple times has brought him the upper hand in helping Yuzu gain the media's attention in positive light without even being there yet. The airport will be filled with press and fans when Yuzu arrives in South Korea, can't wait for that to happen! This story is even more touching when the relationship with this friend spans back to the early years, if everyone was as kind-hearted and honest as Yuzuru —the world would be a better place. Love your comment, had a good laugh from it! The previews from this AERA magazine shoot got me more excited than watching the men's SP at the team event today!! On Feb.19 when this magazine is officially released, all Yuzuru fans will go into shock from how beautiful the photos are and probably demand a second collaborative shoot between the photographer, Mika Ninagawa and Yuzu. (I've already have been fawning over these non-stop since the cover was released)
  7. Aww, poor guy...I agree. I do feel like the U.S. is heavily promoting Nathan at a rate that they're puting too much hype and pressure on him as a first-time Olympian with so many expectations from his country/media. (this is coming from someone who generally wants everyone to do well, especially Yuzuru's rivals for good competition) The new cover totally blew me away and is conceptually so much better than the previous covers. Completely in love with how the photographer staged the whole shoot, along with the lighting, tone, setting (beautiful blue flowers), editing and most of all capturing Yuzuru's soft yet serious expression. The release of this cover defines Yuzuru's presence as the official 'ice prince' of figure skating wish I came in time to buy a copy on Amazon though! He really needs to do more of these non-typical, dreamy and more artistic photoshoots from now on!
  8. I'm really glad that in the newly translated Japanese interview he mentioned Plushenko going past 'prime' figure skating age to continue skating and doing what he loves. Quoting Yuzuru's answer from the translation: "They [Plushenko's various olympic performances] all left different impressions, and each performance had their respective appeal. For that reason, figure skating is something unique, I believe. Producing results isn’t all there is to it––I felt that deeply. That’s why, personally, I’m always able to stay motivated toward figure skating." This reminds me of a tumblr post I saw previously quoting the answer Yuzuru gave to reporters asking if after Pyeongchang he would retire, he said he'll skate until he becomes satisfied. I find Yuzu's concept of satisfaction to be a very beautiful way to summarize his skating career so far and for the future as well. Totally agree! It's great news that he's healthy and is ready to face the olympics head-on again! Glad there's the PH forum for all of us to discuss these topics heading into the olympics!
  9. Thank you! I guess drawing the antenna came naturally, lol and there were two versions of Japan's official olympic outfit, both suits would look great on him! (I wonder how large the crowd will actually be when Yuzu arrives at South Korea's airport!!)
  10. After seeing a photo of the official Japanese uniforms for the olympics, I thought I'd draw Yuzuru in it ahead of time since we have to wait another two weeks to see photos of his arrival to Pyeongchang. (Sharing some fanart I did today in result of looking forward to the olympics too much)

  12. Hard to choose only three, great poll though! Although "Parisienne Walkways" was the program that got me initially interested in Yuzuru, I had to choose "Hana ni Nare", "Romeo & Juliet no.1" and "Hope & Legacy". Here are my explained reasons: His first Romeo & Juliet free program was phenomenal, it had the right amount of suspense, fluidity, character and balance of artistry with athleticism —amazing program. Hana ni Nare is a exhibition number that is absolutely beautiful, the costume, meaning of lyrics/song along with his choreography fit perfectly together into a blossoming performance; every time I watch this I get inspired. Hope & Legacy defines Yuzuru completely, it holds the story of how he overcame the many obstacles in his life to reach hope and now builds his legacy. In all, I love all of Yuzuru's programs and wishes that he could stay longer in figure skating just to perform more programs!
  13. Just saw the news and I actually don't mind that Yuzuru skips the team event because he can conserve energy for the individual event. Plus, he has experience from competing at the team event in 2014, so I'm sure this decision was made with 100% intent for his well-being and performance. Whichever colour metal he gets, we all know that he's the best male figure skater of all time. Also so excited for the Olympics coming up!! It's going to be such a huge competition that everyone watches!
  14. Happy 23rd Birthday Yuzuru Hanyu!! We're all rooting for your recovery and success! (want to share an etching fanart I've done to celebrate Yuzuru's birthday) On the process: it's a multi-edition etching done in various line thickness of hardground.

Thanks to everyone posting updates about everything Yuzu-related! I get nostalgic of the past GPF at this time of the year because competitions feel so much more compelling to watch when we're watching for him, especially more nostalgic since last year I was present as an audience member for the first time at Marseille.
  16. Exactly, agree 100% with your comment! Yuzuru is someone who likes to challenge himself every season every step of the way, even when others can't understand why he isn't "taking the easy route" by repeating the same elements within the programs. It's incredible that Yuzuru kept his motivation to continue skating after winning the OGM back in 2014 because he wanted to prove himself to become an even better skater. And we definitely seen that improvement since the Sochi Olympics with all the records that Yuzuru has broken as well as the numerous wonderful performances.
  17. Aww, it's so nice that everyone started a new forum just for Yuzu. I'm glad to have joined! Also I was away for a week on the GoldenSkate forum, what happened?
