Unfortunately there is no nearby hotel for the arena. The closest ones are the official hotel, Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn but they appear to be fully booked for the event time (and the rate is not very friendly). If you want to go for a hotel within the area, when searching on booking try to use "Dorval" as the location instead of Montreal that you can narrow down to those airport hotels. Airbnb could be a good option but make sure the transportation is convenient for you or whether the parking is available that you can rent a car which makes your schedule more flexible.

The official hotel of last year was Quality Suites Montreal Airport. I doubt they would change the hotel this year as first of all, the hotel was fully booked months ago and second, the hotel once sent out email alerts to guests when Skate Canada rearranged the event schedule to be one week earlier; so it is highly likely to be the same hotel for this year.

Actually, not a disaster at all.I went to SCAC in 2015 and 2016, and both events were organized very well imo. I haven't heard any issue about ticket purchasing at SCAC; the box office runs from 7 to 7 I think? You can go buy tickets anytime and it would not take you more than 1 minute. I think they try to keep things manually as much as they could and as you said, it is relatively a small comp and they have been doing well in past three years, including the two years that Yuzu attended; so I don't think they would change their ticket sale process this year.

Literally there was no real reservation for SCAC; the Montreal arena does not even have individual seats that they only have benches. What I have done for last year's SCAC was to email Skate Canada for getting a so-called confirmation that I will be guaranteed with tickets only. Then when you arrive you can purchase the tickets directly in the arena. Based on past experience, they never pre-sale tickets; it is always direct purchase from the arena at events.

I got the lowest price at $44 for one side; in total $99 after tax for round-trip Porter airline has flight tickets on sale as well which would cost around $260 for round-trip.
