Senior Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2017/18 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is a series of invitational senior internationals that will run from October to December 2017. We hope to introduce you to all the participants as the events are happening, and we invite you to please come join us in the discussion about them and their achievements as the Grand Prix events unfold! They won 3rd at this year's Autumn Classic International. Piper has an older brother who competes in Ice Dance and a twin sister who competes in singles, and Paul has siblings who play hockey. She recently changed her name from Kuzmich to the Czech-feminine form Kuzmichová. Alexandr's parents also competed in Ice Dance for the Soviet Union. They placed 6th at this year's Autumn Classic International. Marie-Jade Lauriault is a Canadian ice dancer who competes with Romain Le Gac for France, whom she married in 2015. Last Season's Results: Competition Placement World Championships 21th Europeans 12th Trophée de France 6th NHK Trophy 6th Charlène Guignard / Marco Fabbri (Italy) source Charlène Guignard and Marco Fabbri have won four ISU Challenger Series medals, including the 2015 Golden Spin and the 2015 Warsaw Cup. They are also this year's Lombardia Trophy champions. Marco Fabbri used to compete for France and now competes with Charlène for Italy. Marco was also a medalist in men's singles at the 2007 World Junior Championships before deciding to focus on Ice Dance. They placed 5th in the individual event. They were the bronze medalists at the 2013 World Championships. They are coached by Alexander Zhulin, the 1994 Olympic silver medalist. In 2016, Ekaterina tested positive for meldonium and was suspended, leading her to miss Worlds, but she was later cleared to compete. They are this year's Ondrej Nepela Trophy champions. Alexandra Stepanova / Ivan Bukin (Russia) source Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin were the 2015 European bronze medalists, the 2013 World Junior Champions, and 3-time medalists on the senior Grand Prix series. Both Alexandra and Ivan used to compete in singles. Ivan Bukin once partnered with Elena Ilinykh. They have competed in the final segment at eight ISU Championships. Alisa used to compete for the Ukraine and Alper used to compete in men's singles, where he was the 2005 Turkish national champion. They train with Pasquale Camerlengo and Anjelika Krylova in Michigan. The competed for Turkey at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, where they placed 22nd. Rachel teamed up with her older brother Michael in 2010. This is their first year on the senior circuit. They are also the 2016 Four Continents champions and four-time Grand Prix series champions. They are also the 2016 and 2017 U.S. national champions. They competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics and placed 9th. They are coached by Marina Zueva and her group in Canton, Michigan. The siblings enjoy taking part in choreographing their own programs and regularly blog/vlog for the USFS. They won the only medal for the United States at the 2017 World Championships. They also placed 7th at this year's Finlandia Trophy. Shiyue started skating when she was 6 and Xinyu started skating at 4 years old. They began training together in 2013 and represented China at Worlds last year, where they placed high enough to quality one dance team to the Pyeongchang Olympics. They then represented China at the World Team Trophy shortly afterwards. Shiyue and Xinyu's choreographers include Pasquale Camerlengo and Anjelika Krylova. Short Dance: Rhumba: Despacito Samba Free Dance: Over My Shoulder Happy Ending Last Season's Results: Competition Placement Worlds 16th Four Continents 7th Cup of China 6th Skate Canada 9th Xiaotong Wang / Kaige Zhao (China) source Xiaotong and Kaige participated for the first time at Chinese Nationals last year, where they placed 4th. They also participated in the 2017 Winter Universiade in Almaty, Kazahkstan, where they placed 13th. Angelique Abachkina / Louis Thauron (France) source Angelique and Louis teamed up in 2012. Angelique was born in Krasnoiarsk, Russia and Louis was born in Paris. They have represented France at four World Junior Championships, placing in the top 10 three times. They have also won three Junior Grand Prix medals, including a gold and a bronze last year, which qualified them to the Junior Grand Prix Final, where they placed fifth. This is their first senior season. Angelique and Louis started off the season at the Ondrej Nepela Trophy, where they placed 5th, and then at the Cup of Nice, where they played 4th. Currently, they train in Novi, Michigan, with coaches Igor Shpilband and Fabian Bourzat. Fabian Bourzat is the 2011 and 2012 European champion with Nathalie Pechalat. Louis is currently a college student studying engineering. At the suggestion of Gabriella's mother, Gabriella and Guillaume teamed up when they were 9 and 10 years old respectively. They turned senior in the 2013-2014 season and were sent to Worlds, placing 13th. In 2014, they relocated to Montreal, Canada for training. Gabriella suffered a concussion in 2015 when they had to sit out the first half of the season for her recovery. They started off their season at Finlandia, where they placed first. Tiffany is originally British and first moved to France to skate for France before teaming up with Jonathan and moving to Russia to skate for Russia. She received Russian citizenship in 2015. In 2012, Tiffany acted in a French comedy detective film as a "Je fais le mort" in the role of a figure skater. Jonathan was born in Austrlia, and his mother once competed in Ice Dance for the Soviet Union. Against all odds, she was able to rehabilitate and return this season, winning gold at the 2017 Cup of Nice and the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy. Madison competed with Greg Zuerlain for five years under Igor Shpilband and Marina Zueva, until Zuerlain retired from competition. Then she started competing with Evan in 2011 and continued to work with her original coaches. With previous partners, they were both World Junior champions. Alex played hockey until switching to singles skating and ice dance at age 8; he competed in both singles and ice dance until switching to ice dance full time. Alex is currently a college student studying acting. They placed 4th at the World Junior Championships in 2016 and 4th at U.S. Nationals last season. They placed 4th at this year's Lombardia Trophy. They started skating together in 2014 and are coached by Igor Shpilband and choreographed by Shae-Lynn Bourne. This is their second senior season.
