Count me in on the Kim Yuna news! Omg!!! What a roller coaster of a week we have had! I’m so happy for Yuna!

I used to roll my eyes at Chiddy with his foot and mouth disease but I have to admit that he was a driving force in Yuzu’s early stages of his senior career. Saying how Patrick’s presence was big and how it felt like losing a goal when Patrick retired, Yuzu relentlessly chased after him and greatly improved from their rivalry. It’s so nice that Yuzu was able to approach him just before Chiddy retired and now they can both look back on their competitive career like this. One of the greatest rivalries ever. Real Estate and fatherhood changed Chiddy 😂

I’m here for this Pooh-san Yuzu reunion. But it’s also interesting to think that he might have bought a home in Toronto which he could very well afford. Just always thought him and his mum was renting. Or poor Pooh-san could be stuck in storage lol

It’s so nice to see new Fanyus here. I myself came from GS and saw how Planet Hanyu was formed from there. I’ve mostly stayed on Twitter and Tumblr but still lurked here from time to time. It’s just amazing how the forum grew into what we have now with so many available videos from the past archived and translated by hardworking Fanyus that both older and newer fanyus can access. I do wish I joined sooner but it was a great time to join this year. Dealing with the series of events this week was less lonely because we were all able to discuss and share our feelings here.

I agree. We’ll I’ve been mostly on a break from watching him when Covid started in 2020 since we couldn’t see much of him. But I think I also want to limit my time obsessing on Yuzu’s future, like it’s a mixture of excitement and sadness but I realize that’s not a healthy mindset. I’d like to fill in my time with other things while waiting for Yuzu’s next step. I’m planning to limit my social media usage once we get full translations of all his interviews, cry once last time (or maybe more lol) and then move on and do other stuff while waiting.

So there are more shows later. Do we actually know if he appears in these or it’s just repackaged shows that are tributes to him? I was so sleepy when they sired the last show at 11:55pm JST, that was 1am my time and it only shared a few clips of Yuzu’s past Olys. I felt baited lol

Something I’ve been meaning to ask, was the Asahi interview done on a different day? And did I understand it correctly that he just came back from practice right before the interview?

I also agree that Yuzu won’t come back. Something I picked up all these years is that Yuzu doesn’t do things in halves. He mentioned thoughts of stepping down after every competition post PC. Cumulative experience has led him to this decision. I think Beijing, his recent injury and the latest rules finally made up his mind. It hasn’t been a week since his switch to a pro athlete so it’s also too early to tell and you can never say never with Yuzu but definitely think he’s done with that life now. And I think once we get all the translations of the interviews and the presscon as a whole, we’ll really get an idea of what he’s trying to convey. Also got me thinking, there were accounts from Beijing staff of his mum crying watching his practice, I wonder if she knew then too that it would be the last time she’d accompany Yuzu to a comp. Something I’ve been entertaining in my head for a while is the possibility of Yuzu bringing back Pro Comps, it’s been mentioned before but it’s exciting to think about.

In spite of how overwhelming this week has been, I’m so grateful for all the interviews that Yuzu has been doing. In all of it, he has never stopped reassuring his fans, keeps saying how greater things are ahead, how he’s still the same athlete we love and he’s still so eager to do challenges and show us so many things in this next stage of his life. Truly happy to support this man wherever he goes.
