  1. @Perelandra OK, now you have won the Pooh Patience and Perseverance Prize. Honestly, I couldn’t do it. Great Job!
  2. @Yuzuwinnie LOL Somehow the word “calculus” changed to “counting” when you copied my post. Counting at 12 would not be an impressive feat. LOL
  3. Wow, Perelandra, it looks like you were put through some real suffering there! Thanks for all your hard work! You earn the Pooh Perseverance Award!!
  4. @Yuzuwinnie In the US, 7th grade is typically entered at age 12. It means seven years beyond kindergarten at age 5. Most kids, including mine, turn 13 sometime during the second half of the school year, and 7th grade is typically the second year of middle school. My kid started calculus at the second half of 6th grade a couple of months before he turned 12.
  5. @Yuzuwinnie My 7th grade child has already studied calculus for a year (yes, he did algebra 1-2, geometry, and trigonometry/pre calculus first), BUT he did it on his own with Khan Academy. No pressure from me. He wanted to do it. Also, he is a very talented pianist who plays Chopin and other difficult classical music, again with no pressure from me. He wants to do it. You can encourage a child without pressure. Once parents start to pressure, it seems like they are doing it not for the child’s benefit, but for their own. Some parents even live vicariously through their kids. My child is very happy and feels in control of his life. I feel very sorry for these children pushed to skate and do other things.
  6. @littleorange Wow. Thanks for your explanation. It’s fascinating, and I didn’t know any of that!
  7. @Perelandra Yes, you have an awesome summary of the ISU Congress. Everyone should check it out! Thanks, Perelandra!!
  8. Thanks, everyone, for your attention on this topic, especially Perelandra for the summary. I REALLY don’t want to watch all that! I know it’s a megaton chore, so thanks for doing it. You people are hard core!
  9. Thanks for your replies to my quad questions. Every one of the answers make perfect sense.
  10. I notice that there are not many quads in the ice shows. Is that normal, or are we seeing a quad resistance? Is raising the age limit a quad resistance? Is the pendulum swinging away from quads? That would not necessarily be a bad thing, because it prevents ice skating from becoming ice jumping.
  11. @Yuzuwinnie I heard that girls have great difficulty doing quads from around the age of 17. Does this mean that women’s senior competitions will not include quads any more?
  12. @Lynn487 Other than posting a bunch, I don’t know. I’m only a Tissue Box.
  13. @Xiupia Love those backstage clips! Interesting how they showed Javi smiling and clapping for Yuzu. I haven’t seen any Javi / Yuzu interaction beyond the high fives at the end where I have seen a consistent butt slap for Keiji from Yuzu.
  14. Thanks so much to Planethanyu.com for providing the full ice shows. Live.qq doesn’t play the whole program, but goes to old Yuzu videos half way through. They do return to the ice show towards the end, but there is always that panic that they won’t. Even so, it’s awesome to be able to see the whole shows. Thank you!!!
  15. @SaluYuzuThis interview makes me feel like Yuzu isn’t planning to retire this season.
  16. @Wintek Maybe I am thinking of gala events when I remember his playfulness, and mixing them up with ice shows. It makes sense that there isn’t much time for playing when he is leading everyone in an ice show. Even if he is serious, you are right that it doesn’t mean he isn’t having fun.
  17. Yuzu seems more serious in this show than previous years. No goofing around with others, not dancing on the sidelines, no rock and roll slides across the ice, stuff like that.
  18. Of all the photos and clips I have seen of Yuzu in groups or interacting with others, I have not seen one where he is with Javi.
  19. Oops. Sorry. That's the problem with not speaking Japanese, I guess, as well as the fact that they haven't published the actual music on the limited videos that I have seen. I didn't know there were so multiple songs with this title. Sorry, sorry folks. @Luminous But the lyrics are correct, right??? You just quoted them, and they are the same as the ones I posted.
  20. @Luminous Oh! It's at the rain reference. That was my second guess. Thanks for telling me! And he includes the part about the lie. Interesting.
  21. I'm guessing he pours it at this point: This grief and these tears are my step to the future So, I’m going to break it with all my might (To go through fire and water) But, of course, he probably didn't include the whole song since it is 5 minutes long. I wonder if he skipped the verses about lying. That's the part that doesn't seem to go with Yuzu.
  22. The lyrics mention water at one point and rain at another point. I wonder if he pours the water at one of these two points? Maybe someone who can speak Japanese can tell me???
  23. Notice that Yuzu wears a grey hoodie in his skating, similar to the image, but more detailed and decorated.
  24. Here is the song on youtube: UPDATE: Luminous informs me the that this is the right song, but the wrong voice, and it isn't available on youtube. I'm sorry for this error. I don't speak Japanese, unfortunately, and I haven't seen the whole performance. Luminous says it's a different voice that sings this song, not KAT-TUN. Perhaps it is a live performer singing it?? Well, even if KAT-TUN doesn't actually sing this in the show, perhaps it is still of some interest, so I will keep it posted.
