Bummer - no skating, no movies (presuming there are more than 50 people in a theatre), no dining out. What sort of PTO is this? Any one else in your practice want to trade you some days for you to use later on in the year? Virus or no virus, those babies just keep on getting born when they want to be.

Sven is a cutie. I already have my name/name done. Are you sure you want to ail them all? Added expense and we could get the at ACI (for those of us going to ACI -and ACI MUST happen, we have to have something to look forward to).

Thanks for the translation - does anyone know what Jun said?

Does he have any say in which ones he skates? If so - Skate Canada and Rostlecom Cup would be best for him, timing wise, with weeks in between and weeks before the GP final.... Aren't they kind of by invite only? Or does JSF have a say?

Olympic channel website quoted NC. He was pleased his coach didn't have to risk getting sick.

It is a fairly safe thing to predict it will be at least a year before a vaccine for this virus is able to be used. First, they have to come up with one (or more) vaccines and then test them for a period of time. There is no way to rush the science. Maybe some countries will come up with something a little bit sooner but it won't be approved for use in the states. Protocols. The best we can hope for, really, is effective treatment soon. Especially for the elderly.

It is winter in Australia in August. most flus (and no one knows if this will behave like other coronavirus's and the flu) are a seasonal deal. In the northern hemisphere, regular flu season is usually December through maybe April. But, truly, no one knows if this will behave like other virus'. There is a prediction that if it does dissipate in the spring, it will likely come back next season. Unknown - but there will be no vaccine by then, so this could all be ugly again next year.

There are no other ISU events but many of the skaters are already lined up for ice shows. And getting the rink would be problematic - it's the home rink of the Montreal Canadians. They are not going to postpone it, period.

No panic - just concern. Mine being that I get there and cases go up exponentially and the US doesn't let me back in. I feel worse for those already on their way...

Roman is a good spinner - but I think that Yuzu is greatly underscored on his spins (and his step sequences) routinely.

There is no question that his gift is hard-wired. Of course, it has only been with an almost inconceivable level of commitment and single-minded hard work that got him where he is. Maybe that's hard-wired, too. I think he gained a sense of purpose out of the horrors of the earthquake that has enhanced his dedication. (And his family- his gift would never have been fully realized without their support.)

Wow - and now I have to decide to go to this or go to Massachusetts for a family reunion and the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims landing (We are direct descendants of Mayflower survivors, as are, I imagine, many tens of thousands....). Guess where I'd rather be? And I actually like the built in reason to not go to Plymouth. Such priorities. I'd rather been in Oakville, if Yuzu is.

To think that 13 years ago he showed more grace and artistry than those who are considered among the best as senior level skaters now. So amazing.

Could they pick a rink further away from hotels? Western Toronto is kind of boring....

You, too, could look like this if you were genetically blessed and stayed out of the sun virtually your entire life.
-
But there is definitely no way to ignore it and get back to the work you were doing. I'm trying to finish my taxes and if I heard PW playing in the next room, I'd be lost for hours.

Well, if they want info to get to the attendees of Worlds, perhaps they could accidentally send us all an email with the information. And then send another email a couple of days later to retract the first email. They have the email address of every single person who bought a ticket that is in PDF form and the physical address for everyone else. Would it be too much trouble to inform the paying public?

There are a couple of manufacturers so if a 3M causes a reaction, you could try Honeywell.... But, truly, the reason I would bring ones I already have is in case SC insists we wear one. Then, at least, I'll have what I know works for me, and fits... And we won't be needing masks at all (unless you're sick! in which case, stay home.)
-
I have a couple dozen of them if you want me to bring you a couple. You might want to bring disposable gloves to use for taking the mask off. And bring a little bottle (3 oz so it can go on the plane) that you can put a sprayer on, fill it with hydrogen peroxide and use it for cleaning the tray table, etc.. H2O2 kills viruses. Even better to spritz that and then wipe with an antibacterial wipe. I'm going to look like I'm geared up for the apocalypse.

Won't ISU have to broadcast this abomination of an event to a world wide audience if they think it's going to attract heretofor uninterested people to FS? And the ISU feed is geoblocked in plenty of countries so who is going to watch it? It's all just so weird. I can see it as possibly increasing ticket sales to Stars on Ice or other ice shows but the ISU doesn't have skin in that game. I think having 4CC in Australia next year is as close as they've gotten to trying to truly expand their fan base - and Oz has only one skater that we ever even see.

I've heard of these "antis" before but I've never actually read any of the negative press. Perhaps the one plus of not being able to read or understand Japanese.

And it's so good to see Shoma smiling and actually happy.
