what if he skates a world record and smashes into the podium

I mean, the WR is a 224.92. I'd love to see him beat it. But even then, that only puts Yuzu at a 320.08, which Nathan only needs 206.12 to beat.

Now, Nathan hasn't gotten there all season, but we all know Rocketman scores higher internationally than Mozart did. And actually, Yuzu's layout maxes out at a 237.60, with a fully rotated 4A, +5 GOEs on everything, and 10s across the board in PCS. If Nathan can get a similar score to GPF 2019 FS, Yuzu would need a 243.74 to beat him. Now to podium, on the other hand... yeah, that would almost certainly do it.

(Have I mentioned today that I like crunching the numbers on things?)

I don't wish a bad skate for anyone, so I think a chance for podium is small... People keep mentioning Yuma and Shoma, but there are others there too... He would have to beat them too, and it's no problem if he skates clean, but the first jump is you know what and yeah... (he will land it I just don't think it will happen here sorry :smiley-scared003: doesn't mean I won't cross my everything for it :fingerscrossed:) (also there's no way to avoid the fact that his score will be affected anyway with placing in the short :<)

I don't think bronze is out of the question. Silver, either, but that's less likely. There are four points between fourth and eighth right now - and not to be rude to any of those skaters, but a clean Yuzu will easily beat all of them. Shoma's looking great, but he's never skated the 5 quad layout clean in competition. I don't think it's out of the question for Yuzu to make up a 10 point difference. Yuma may be more difficult to beat, especially if he skates like he did in the team event. Nathan, sadly, is probably not possible to catch without several large mistakes. We'll just have to see what happens. I just hope Yuzu has a free skate he's proud of.

  3. I'm actually glad I have work today (although I'll admit I didn't sleep well at all last night). Gives me something else to focus on, a way to feel useful.

I am so glad that Yuzuru, at least publically, seems to be taking the popped jump in stride. He's got a very mature view on things. If there's nothing he could have done better, then there's no sense beating himself up over the outcome. Hearing his take on yesterday's events is comforting. Amazing that we're still drawing strength from him even during this low point on the rollercoaster.

Also glad to have supportive coworkers. Yesterday afternoon, I showed her a clip of Yuzu in practice and she said "he glides like an angel." This morning I've had two of them ask if I was okay after seeing the results.

Edit: I also highly recommend watching H&L from Helsinki. It helps to remember that his finest free skate of all time was done when his back was against the wall.
