I'm wondering whether the lack of an audience will help or hinder Yuzu. It might make him less nervous by creating a more "normal", training-like atmosphere, so he has less chances of over-thinking things. Just skate like a normal practice session. On the other hand, you lack the adrenalin rush that comes from thousands of people screaming your name.
Imagine the Pooh rain that would have happened. Or maybe not given where we are...
In any case, it's a moot point. Covid sucks.

Just joined the stream in time for Boyang. Well done, lad

Beyond his physical condition, I'm wishing he keeps his mental condition tip top shape. Not easy to hold on to your self-belief in the face of snide comments or naysayers. I'm glad to hear his post-practice comments. At the same time, I'm marvelling at the mental strength to keep himself going.
GO YUZU

The 4A doesn't look ready for competition sadly.... I'll be happy to see a 4Lo now in practice. Pls Yuzu

Oh dear ...
Yikes! Beyond wishing for his speedy recovery, if he is indeed positive, I'm wondering how infectious he was, going around training, competing, at close quarters etc.
Small mercies for Yuzu only landing yesterday afternoon

How is it that he looks smaller than in his Pyeongchang pics. He’s not even surrounded by burly bodyguards this time yet he still seems dwarfed by the people around him.
Anyway it’s so good to see him. I was almost half expecting him not to show

Anyone knows what possible flights he could be on?

Wow Yuma!! Well deserved PB. What a skate.
I was reminded, after not seeing him for so long, why Vincent’s skate never appealed to me. It was glaringly obvious after Yuma how much he was lacking in flow and deep edges. But good for him for staying on his feet.
saw a bit of Mark’s skate at the end, I guess well done? But not my cup of tea.

This is getting ridiculous

At this rate, Yuzu’ll be strolling into the rink for his first event straight from the airport

I remember following Yuzu’s exploits four years ago. The nail biting anticipation of when he would arrive, satellites at PH tracking possible flights he could be on, and then the absolute chaos at the airport when he finally appeared, like a boss. Was it a satellite who said it, or was it a media headline, that said the Winter Games had finally started, because the star was finally here? And I remember feeling so nervous cos none of us knew what his condition was. I was stealing in and out of family lunches during our Lunar New Year celebrations then to check on the progress of the men’s SP. And then gasping at the unbelievable SP that he pulled off.
It’s surreal that we are here now, four years later. Still feeling rather zen, but maybe because I’ve been busy clearing up work and yes, it’s Lunar New Year celebrations once again. I’m sure the zen and calmness will go out the window once Yuzu arrives, whenever that is. Safe travels, Yuzu, and stay healthy and focused.

So proud of him. His determination and resilience knows no boundaries. We’ll done Yuzu

Too chicken to watch live. Did he do ok?

Amazing. The judges realised what FS was like without Yuzu and came to their senses

Hi guys! Following a skating comp after a looong while. Wasn't interested at all in the Grand Prix so thankfully stayed sane all this while.

4A (almost there) was mindboggling. But holy shit the 3A-3Lo. Such a pretty jump.
Ganbatte Yuzuru on your Nationals! May your dreams come true.

I’ve been away. But I needed to come back here when I heard the news.
Get well soon Yuzu. We’re with you

The comparison I made was with those contracted the virus, not with those who died.
Ratio with population : 363,000 cases/32 million population = 1.1%
Out of the 363,000 cases, 1,345 have died = 0.37% death rate.
The 3.5% side effects from Pfizer as reported by Health Minister are the official figures. Unofficially it is said to be higher, esp after Pfizer 2nd dose.
The figures are expected to higher once they start with the senior citizens & high risk groups.
Regardless, 3.5% is higher than 1.1%.
A vast majority of those who tested positive are asymptomatic, if I remember the stats correctly more than 70%. cos my country's policy is all close contacts must be tested even if they dont show symptoms.
There are risks to take sure, try telling that to the next of kin of the frontliners who have died after taking the vaccine.
They rush the vaccines out too fast, the standard vaccines we have now took years of clinical trials.
For forum members who decided to take vaccines, hopefully the vaccine given(if cannot choose) will not cause adverse side effects to you.
About the side effects. I’m from Singapore, and I took my Pfizer doses in March and April. I’m an educator and have priority. First dose gave me a sore arm and nothing else. Second dose had stronger side effects: headache which was the most annoying, plus fatigue and nausea. It went away after 48 hrs. But these side effects are a good thing. They mean that the body is producing an immune response to the virus, so that the next time it encounters something similar, ie, COVID, it’ll know how to fight it. So the stronger the side effects, the better actually as it signals a strong immune response. If the 3.5% refers to the rate of vaccinated people who encounter side effects like this, it’s normal and not something to avoid.
People have suffered severe reactions with some leading to deaths, ie. anaphylactic shocks, blood clots etc. But my understanding is that these are like less than 1%.

My arm was sore the whole weekend after getting my first shot last Friday. Fatigued more than usual today. Luckily back to normal today.
I’m glad my country prioritises educators of which I’m one. We’re rightly considered a front liner as well.

It would have been great to see Yuzu and Boyang train together at TCC and pushing each other to be better. Ah well.
