Regarding Kevin's Bolero, I agree. That song is an absolute warhorse, but Kevin made it seem fresh and new. Loved his approach to it. Interesting about Deniss. I feel like he's changed his skating in the last year or so. He's become way more confident and self-assured in his expression. Unfortunately, he's still got jump issues. Ilia - the only fault I could actually find with his program was the music choice itself. It doesn't suit him. His skating was fine, and I thought he was really sensible not to bother with the 4A if he didn't need it to score high. He deserved to win. However, I can't convince myself he deserved a score of 206. Judges clearly still on crack... Other notes: I was so mad on Zach and Marjorie's behalf when the crowd weren't into their Thriller RD. They did it perfectly, brought exactly the right energy, and no one even clapped along to the music.... argh. I feel like Trennt Michaud looks like a new man. He's suddenly skating so much better and Lia seems to sync with him so well. It's pretty interesting to watch the evolution. I thought Xianyi An did really well and am intrigued to see more of her skating.

Since some satellites (myself included) were asking about it the General Yuzu thread, I took the initiative and made a post for this year's GP events. Since Skate America just finished, obvs it's a bit late but please feel free to use this thread for all your streaming and watching discussion for all the events. Next up is Skate Canada International, coming at you from Vancouver, BC, Oct 26 - 28. Where to watch? The live itself was only available to everyone who purchased the VOD. Which I still haven't done About Jimin's hair colour: it's not really blonde. More like gold. It matches the colour of the gold balloons nearly perfectly.

At this point, he's practically French! So much time in Paris...

Is there any particular reason not to continue having these competition event threads, though? Even if Yuzu is no longer competing, a lot of us are still skating fans... or at least we need a safe space to groan about the fact that none of the new skaters can compare with Yuzu... plus, we always had threads for all the disciplines, not just men's singles. I always enjoyed having fun with other satellites in those threads, complaining about bad costumes and celebrating good efforts

Did anyone sign.up for the Jimin's Production Diary VOD?

My initial reaction was that the song is so mid, that even JK can't shine. It didn't think it was possible, but they actually made him sound so average, and took away everything that's unique about his vocal expression to blend him in with the others, that it sounds like any old singer could have done it. I'm glad it's just a collab and not a real JK song.

From what I can gather, a big part of the MAMA nominations is sales numbers, and Indigo hasn't done the numbers. Weirdly, but still. And I find it unbelievable that Haegum didn't get a nom for Best MV. It's a cinematic masterpiece

I wonder if some of the members (like Jimin) look at these shoots and laugh out loud later when they see it. They probably get together to laugh over them and tease each other about them. With popcorn. Also: I just got the latest version of the COVID vax (now with XBB 1.5! New and improved! Better 5G reception! More magnetic powers bestowed!) AND the quadrivalent flu shot at the same time... if I suddenly turn fluorescent pink with teal polka dots and sprout wings, that'll be why...

Skate Canada just announced in their Instagram stories reel that Aleksa Rakic will be going to SCI in place of Roman. I'd link it but links to Insta reels usually don't work

Well, there is that - Ed's already written two really great BTS songs so that one will for sure be good. @Old Cat Lady the thing with Tae's album is that it's so clearly him. His colour, his style. Even if he didn’t write it, it's still very much something only he could do and make it work, and the producer he worked with was a fellow Korean who clearly got to know his musical personality well. But truthfully, I was really looking forward to having an album full of JK the songwriter. I LOVE his R&B, soulful, sweet, thoughtful way with a song. Just for sheer listening pleasure, give me a My Time or a Stay over a 3D or a Dreamers any day. But I guess JK can always do that stuff later, and he wants to strike while the iron is hot for the pop stuff

Well, the silver lining to that is that hopefully all the songs will be able to get Canadian radio play because they'll meet CanCon rules. But yeah. I don't want to catastrophize but I smell too much 🛵

To be frank, I'm harboring deep reservations about Golden now. Look at the credits - not one single BigHit or HYBE PD or writer among them - not even JK himself! It's such a departure from their usual M.O., and frankly I think it smacks of pandering to the part of thr American music industry who've always been so using and snotty towards them. However, I do trust JK's musical judgement to some degree, so I will wait and see what it sounds like. But I'm not happy with it as it stands.
