  1. Everytime I see Shizuka do something like this and then remember that she's a mom of 3 in her 40s, I think that there must be something magic about Sendai to keep people so youthful. No wonder Yuzu keeps saying he doesn't think he's at his peak yet. Also, Shizuka is amazing.
  2. I'm thinking Kaori. She's reigning World Champion and she has that cute perky energy that works so well for chocolate and candy commercials.
  3. I don't know if everyone remembers this madness from last year, when Ice was in the mix and fanyus made it win (in honour of Yuzu), but the Mineral Cup is back this year with new rules ( rather like the ISU) and a new crop of contenders. What does this have to do with Yuzu? Other than Ice being a former champion, absolutely nothing, but it is the most fun a person can have on Twitter with rocks, and slots nicely into the slow gap between summer comps and the start of the GP. So enjoy the laughs as people who are better geologists than me ('cuz physics ain't geology) make the case for their faves to win!
  4. It's very unusual for a brand new YT channel to monetize right off the bat, though. Yuzu's a special case but usually it takes time before your channel qualifies to be a YouTube partner and can monetize
  5. The wonderful thing is that now that Yuzu's had such a successful career and has attracted so many loyal fans, he can totally do that. He could hold ice shows in Sendai and the world would beat a path to his door to see them (or skate in them - he would have to get other skaters in the show , after all). And without him taking that huge scary step to leave Sendai and come train here in Toronto, he might never have had what he has today. His brave and wise choice back then, led to all this now. I'd say his return to Sendai is the ultimate symbol of his success. Not every skater who retires to go pro gets to stay at home after.
  6. As I said, 2x 55,000 = 110,000, so Yuzu literally had a crowd almost the equivalent of two full TokyoDomes watching tonight.
  7. Remember how I said Yuzu could fill TokyoDome? It's only 55,000-seat capacity. He just did it almost twice over
  8. YouTube has options for this built right in. Viewers can donate during livestreams. But if he monetizes his channel, paying for making video like today will not be an issue. I sort of hope he does some shorter, more informal stuff, too, but that kind of YouTubing can be a grind and I want him to enjoy what he's doing, too
  9. Heck, I'll sit through a lengthy Power Point on his thesis research if that's what he wants to do.
  10. That was the biggest 'up yours' the ISU and their d@mn rules changes could possibly have gotten. I'm sure that was a 4min30 program
  11. Just watching how he practices is going to change figure skating forever, isn't it? Imagine little kids seeing this work ethic
