Yuzu has been working so hard since turning pro, he definitely deserves a few weeks of honeymoon, off the ice time or whatever he is now up to :5918bda9c2674_0005(1)::animated-smileys-holidays-water-010:

I hope he can enjoy his time with his family and recharge his batteries. Let's not forget, he has been practicing at night, working endlessly on his shows and taking all the other media appointments as well.

This way, there is enough time to re-watch his SharePractice, Prologue, GIFT, SOI, FAOI, Notte Stellata, his YT videos and all the other interviews etc. And also Volume III and IV of Aoi Honoo. There is enough to bridge the time until he decides to show himself again.:tumblr_inline_n18qraikFP1qid2nw:

What we know is he bought a new apartment and he got married, but there's a lot involved with just those 2 things alone which would have taken up a lot of time. Was there a wedding and reception? Planning those events would have taken up time. Packing, moving, customizing & furnishing the new apt. That's also a lot of work. Deciding what to keep and what to throw out always took a long time for me every time I moved. He has to negotiate with his wife where to store all his medals, trophies, pooh bears, earphones, costumes, etc. in the new apt. She needs some closet space too!

He has in-laws now, so he will have additional family obligations. And he's doing this on top of his usual practice, future ice-show planning, preparing YouTube videos for us, activities related to his sponsors, TV appearances, etc, and dodging paparazzi and tabloids.

I hope he does take some time to relax and settle into his new life. Of course I want to see him skate too, but it doesn't seem at all like a drought to me when I think about all those months we used to get absolutely zero info about him, and all I could do was hoped that he was practicing safely or recovering smoothly.

I'm sure he is working on something spectacular for us and all this waiting will be so worth it when we finally see it!

  2. Golden Skate's interview with Ghislain Briand. Really nice interview.

He talks about Yuzu starting at 10:50, his relationship with Yuzu, why Yuzu is special to him, and training him on 4A.

He also touches on why he left TCC, and emphasizes how important it is to put a skater's health first. He is such a great coach!

I myself has concluded by now that Minori Kitahara just didn't like Yuzuru's using the word 入籍 nyuseki (literally means "going into the register", somehow sounds classic), which originally means that someone is registered in someone else's family register, and generally it has been used at the time of marriage. As you may know, a marriage in Japan used to be regarded to happen between families, and in most cases (even after the Civil Law was changed), a woman has been registered in her husband's family register and changed her family name to husband's (of course there are opposite cases).

Under the modern Japanese Civil Law, however, a married couple can start their family register from the first page as well, and they select the family name from theirs by mutual consent (it must be one family name though, and in most cases the husband's family name is taken).

I don't know why Yuzuru used such a classic way of saying (he could exactly say 婚姻届けを提出することになりました instead), but it is also true that we still feel 入籍 equals 結婚 (marriage). He might have avoided the word 結婚 (婚姻) in order to lessen our shock receiving from such a direct word. This is just my guessing though.

Anyway, I'm quite sure now this is just a case that his selection of words has got on the feminist's nerves, and she has confessed that she is an Ohtani fan :D

So, forget about it, guys :meditationf:

Thanks for your explanation. It's very annoying that every word he utters is picked apart and criticized by someone. No wonder he kept the announcement as short as possible. Also, it's never enough that they just support their own faves, they always have to drag Yuzu to prop up their faves, and use him to get views. :/

I think no matter how Yuzu announced it, he would still have been criticized. You can't please everyone, and he can only try to do the best he can.

Tabloids have always targeted him. He can't even buy an apartment without them leaking the details, enough so that some people figured out where the location was. Imagine if they had a whiff that he was interested in starting a relationship. Would he even have had a chance to meet with her quietly to nurture their relationship? I just have to admire his ninja skills and how smart he was to maintain that "I live a monk's life and I'm married to my skating" image so much so that even people who knew him personally were convinced that he was not interested in dating. That made the tabloids less interested in his activities if all he was doing was going to practice and dealing with business. I suspect he did not want to risk their attention by giving hints to his fans.

Yuzu is very aware and he knew he was going to break a lot of hearts with his announcement, so he made it short and simple, and went back to talking about skating in a way to reassure us that things have not changed. I'm not sure what else he could have said. For their security and privacy, he doesn't want to give out details that might accidentally identify her. If he talked about how happy he was in finding love and getting married, wouldn't that just make it harder for the broken-hearted? I'm sure he hated having to hurt his fans and this was not easy for him either.

  4. It was a busy day, and I finally get a break, so I took a peek at Twitter (Yes, I'm calling it Twitter forever). The first thing I see is a post from AERA with the new magazine cover and the message:

"Congratulations on the marriage of Yuzuru Hanyu, who will be on the cover of the next issue of AERA. We will continue to deliver the appearance that continues to evolve even after turning professional."

I thought, "Ok, Google Translate is being dramatic and calling Yuzu's collaboration with AERA a marriage."

Then I started seeing all the other congratulatory messages, so I finally checked YUZURUofficial_ , and OMG, it's for real!! :tumblr_inline_n2pjd648pi1qdlkyg:

I am soooo happy for him! :loveshower:

I had always hoped that someday he would find a special person that he loves as much as he loves ice-chan, and who will always be there for him and bring him happiness.

All the best to the new couple and may they enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness together! :tumblr_inline_nhkf04zUM41qid2nw::68271401:

And yes, I got no work done after that.

  5. Before you rate GIFT, build up your account a little by rating other movies. Otherwise the site may think that you're a bot and will lower the credibility of your rating.

Here are some threads on the best way to rate GIFT and make your rating count:

Olympic Channel TenChi has 969,000 views (NC's RM has 1.1M views just for comparative reasons of course.....)  here's the link for ease!

Many ppl find it painful, yes, me included :weeping:

My suggestion is really for those of us who are interested in the numbers of views on different programmes/channels...not everyone is :)

    970K views now. :)

It's not the skate we wanted for him, and it's not the skate he wanted for himself, but this skate really showed his fighting spirit. He gave his all on a busted ankle and despite the first two falls, the rest of the program is excellent. I miss Tenchi. I love watching his winning programs, but I also want Yuzu to know he's got my support even when he doesn't win.

I discovered Yuzu during the PyeongChang Olympics, and I know a lot of people discovered him during Beijing. Most new figure skating fans will go to the Olympic videos first, so let's keep boosting his Olympic videos so that new figure skating fans will continue to discover him. If the Beijing programs are too hard to watch, there's always the PyeongChang and Sochi programs.

What's mind-blowing is that he can just wander around Tokyo going unnoticed on the trains, etc.

I think it helps that many people still wear masks on trains in Japan,  and I think he also tends to wear a cap in public.

  8. I subscribed to Disney+ earlier in the evening. It's past midnight here now, and I see GIFT listed here for the US!

I'll watch it with everyone at the designated time! :bunny-smiley:

Thankful for some good news. I got email saying my Aoi Hono boxset was delivered, but I don't see it. :sad-smiley-046:

Will have to hunt down the package tomorrow.

France and Italy had confirmation very early, UK it is advertised in the TV guide Radio Times, digital version and pretty sure Spain has had confirmation now. There will be several other countries in Euro zone who have also received confirmations as well. Hope that helps and that you will be able to join in. Maybe someone else has more up to date details.

@Henni147 posted an informative map on twt and then here on PH a few days ago, that will be helpful to you
