In response, the Association established the Large-Scale Disaster Support Fund and has been setting aside the money so it can be used when major disasters occur—to provide funds to affected municipalities, assist organizations working on the ground, and provide initial funding for registered disaster-volunteer organizations. The Association's current description says the fund isn't simply a pot of money earmarked for direct payments to disaster victims. It can support affected municipalities and organizations providing assistance on the ground, and can also provide initial funding to registered disaster-volunteer groups. [Source | Archive]
