Lol that’s @Danibellerika and myself. She’s always easy to spot with the Pooh ears

Yes :). Which means it'll be foreign friendly for those who understand English at least and there will be other foreign press there. Mao did one of these press conferences too after Sochi. I think for Yuzu maybe he did it after Worlds?
-
I believe they live-streamed and the FCC uploaded it themselves to their youtube channel last time after Sochi. Although Yuzu was late last time due to Obama being in Japan at the time.

From what I remember of the televised NBC broadcast they didn’t show the flower ceremony in full since it was pre-recorded. They just cut to The commentators and they begin chatting. Not sure about the online live stream.
-
You mean the flower ceremony on Ice or medal ceremony? I’ve got the medal ceremony (no commentary) somewhere at home.

I’ve landed in Korea, here’s some pics from the Korean Airlines in-flight magazine “Beyond”. I tore out the relevant pages and will take some better pics later. https://kichessarjilian.tumblr.com/post/170622984549/in-flight-magazine-on-korean-airlines

I’m dying.

Non-chan was born in america but living in Japan, so she got her replies to her Japanese address I believe.

So, I have to ask since I also listened to a Shae-Lynn’s interview with PJ Kwong... Is it that uncommon for skaters when working with choreographers to actually try the choreography out with jumps? I would think it’s a smart and normal thing to do but Shae-Lynn makes it sound uncommon. I think Jeff has also talked about Yuzu trying choreography out with the jumps as well.

While I think the phrasing of the text in the tweet is a bit confusing, I took it to be the tweeter injecting a bit of their own POV and not a straight translation of the question that Midori was asked. I think the part about “inferior” comes from the fact that some skating fans think Yuzuru doesn’t have classic ballet training and thus has poor posture or lines. It’s just that they didn’t make a good distinction between what was asked and why they chose to translate this tweet in the first place.

Speaking of training. Some of us were thinking of methods to train and maintain stamina while he was recuperating and one of my thoughts was he could swim laps. Unfortunately he pretty much said he didn’t know how to swim, but I was thinking he would learn if it helped him keep in shape. Anyone with a background in physiology or sports training want to weigh in on whether I’m totally off my rocker?
-
Yeah, unfortunately his condition is what it will be at this point (I'm hoping that means it's at least good). My Yuzu-intuition is pretty spot on a lot of the time as welll, although I do end up wrong sometimes . I'll keep what I think may happen for him and the other men to myself for now and see if they come to fruition after the Olympics. I will say though, that after the announcement he had been back on ice for at least a week that came out around mid-January my feeling was that he may choose to bypass the team event after all, which is probably why I'm not that surprised by the prediction and am being relatively cool about it right now.
-
Lol I didn’t say I expected clean free skate performances (from almost anyone) - I don’t have that type of optimism and am pretty pessimistic a lot of the time. I’m just saying that there are benefits to skipping team if he decides to do so. Sadly he may not have the luxury to take advantage of the extra Olympic ice time doing the team event would’ve given him. I’m more concerned about him being in best physical condition he can be for singles and that’s what I think they may strategize and prioritize over doing team. Of course, my selfish wish is that he’s training very well and has built up enough stamina to do the Team SP so it makes it worth my money. Like @Danibellerika I would’ve definitely spent more time in Japan instead if I could predict if he won’t do the Team event.
-
It’s not that I don’t agree there’s an advantage to being on competition ice longer, but given how the injury shortened his training timeline my personal opinion is that there’s benefits to being able to train uninterrupted and continuously for at least a month in Toronto after coming of a break. Since there isn’t really a chance that Team Japan will earn a team medal I think he doesn’t have the pressure to do the Team event either. If he decides to forego the Team event then it’s because he and his team have weighed the pros and cons of extra time on competition ice vs an extra week of training time, and that the latter came out on top in their books. Regarding the comp mileage, I think the pattern is a bit different this season as he’s using two familiar programs. We saw the benefit of this at ACI SP when he was coming off minimal training, and in part at Rostelecom as well as he had a much better showing than he normally does at Skate Canada as his first event. Either way we should know soon enough.

My personal opinion is it may still be undecided and this ensures all coaches at TCC get into the Olympics, and affords Yuzu the option to go to the Team event kr straight into the singles event. While I think the extra ice time in Korea would do him good, I also think possibly an extra week in Toronto would allow him to train more intensely and give him more ice time.

Was there an American coach at Europeans? I assume that’s where the quotes come from unless it’s 4CC since I missed the link to the actual Japan Times article.

Despite the $800 price tag for Category A seats for the Olympic Gala, the Category A Sears have also been in high demand (plenty of B though). I suspect maybe they reserved seats for VIP in A as this is one of the last events of the games, or maybe some thought Yuna Kim may skate so they bought tickets for the bests eats they could.
-
The worst part is these tickets are expensive and their ticketing customer service is absolute shit. For a nation hosting such an international event I think the avenues to contact someone if you’re having issues with your ticket are slim to non-existent, and responses incredibly unhelpful. It made me wonder if the korean spectators receive a better response.
-
Initially men’s Sp, FS, and Ladies’ FS were sold out but they recently dumped some SP tickets so there’s availability right now for B and C level. Men’s practice which is only Category A level sold out almost immediately. The problem is the ticket prices for anything above C level is very steep. It’s over $300 for a Category B seat for any of the skating events.

he said "and I hope he will be fine".

It’s actually relatively cheap to fly from the east coast to Europe (I found this out as I was trying to see if a connection to Helsinki from the east coast to CA would be cheaper). Flights from west coast to Europe are expensive Although flights to Vancouver are reasonable for me, and I can also fly to Portland in about 1.5 hours and drive 2 hours to get to Vancouver.

Ummm... I hate to break it to you all but that coke bottle is a spin position and not a hydroblade, right?
-
That warning I think always existed, the kids just ignored it until they started getting poisoned by it... Maybe I need a horse-strength sedative for Pyeongchang.
-
I actually thought that was a slim can of coke which is less than 12 oz which is what you see in the states. It was taller but slimmer so my guess was less than or equal to 12 fl oz.

Yes the more open practice the better good luck!
