+1. I think it’s going to take some time getting used to and I believe I will only get over it once we see Yuzu’s plans into action which might take a while.

I agreee with you @Perelandra. It could have encouraged newer Fanyus to check out the sport even when Yuzu has left the competitive field but ISU effed it up. You know it’s bad when even non Fanyus turn their backs against the sport because of ISU. @Pammi I just remembered I had this saved in my bookmarks but this one is comparing lyrics of RF and Masquerade. It’s really nice to look at in hindsight now.

@PerelandraBefore Yuzu, I first got into figure skating because of Yuna and Mao. Mao’s one foot skating? Superb. Now all those things that made me love this sport are no longer valuable. I guess we’ll see how that plays out this season though I have lost interest in it and might just watch my fave ladies. Idk if the changes in PCS played into Yuzu’s decision but I was initially worried the most about him when that was announced. I knew he would never compromise his ideals and he was unhappy about putting in 5 quads in his layout before but the judges have even more reason to underscore him with the new rule and this time we could no longer complain about it. I didn’t want to see his face fall again at the K&C, he really did the right thing stepping away from that circus.

It’s actually sad. I know Yuzu is inimitable but the ISU just killed chances of seeing potential legends rise in this sport and has offended and disasppointed a lot of older FS fans with their corruption, politics and the final nail in the coffin was the recent changes in scoring.

@LiaRy Yes to that! That long hug from Stephane was at the back of my head during the whole time. At that time though, I just found it emotional like a hug after a long time of not being able to perform FaOI together. Stephane has been skating with him at FaOI since he was young, maybe he knew something was up. Or Jeff whom he must have thanked profusely at that time. Maybe they could have guess from his NDP tribute to DW or maybe evrn David knew something was up. From that pamphlet of the interview with Javi, he asked what it’s like to be a professional skater and I’m guessing he must have been asking the same around his colleagues. Or maybe he talked with them and they could get hints from his words. Maybe Nobu had a feeling, who knows at this point. As you said this is all speculation as fans. None of the earlier interviews hinted anything but looking back you can see that he was never specific about saying he was going to compete again. I still want to see both Rondo and Tenchi in his ice shows. Fortunately, we had clean Rondo in JNats but it still doesn’t feel enough. I was hoping he’d reuse it this season if he were to compete. Rondo didn’t get a lot of love for obvious reasons and I’d like to see it repackaged in his ice show to give it a new look and make it more memorable for the new fans.

I know Yuzu said he didn’t tell anyone about it but I’m thinking if any of his friends at FaOI had a clue. But I’m really glad that these interviews came out late, no one was able to infer anything from his words and he was able to announce his decision on his own terms.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me! Idk if I’m going to be as active here since work and all but it’s nice to be welcomed regardless. Can’t believe it’s been a week. I’m feeling a lot better now than when I was last week. Just looking forward and ready to hear some crazy ideas of Yuzu’s plans.

I have been lurking here for the longest time and joined because I wanted to share my thoughts on Yuzu’s career now that he is switching to Pro. What a rollercoaster of emotions the past week has been. I’ve been swamped with work and couldn’t properly process what I’m feeling but yesterday I had a good cry after watching all the interviews and broadcasts. Feel free to skip.
