  1. @SuzyQ and other satellites in Japan, I hope you are safe.

The biggest earthquake since 2011, that's scary. Thankfully, the tsunami warning has been downgraded to a tsunami advisory, but it looks like the next few days will be very difficult for the Japanese, not to mention about the long-term effects.

the game will be released in 2024 with 5 levels, special mini bosses and achievements as well as multiple endings

i hope everyone enjoys this and give us feedback!

edit: the game will be published in 4 languages, English, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish

we will have more gameplay footage in the upcoming weeks!

This is absolutely crazy! Can't wait to see when it's finished!

It would be wonderful to see them in Re_pray at Saga or Yokohama.

Agree. The best thing about Goliath, however, is that Yuzu has taken full advantage of the medium to create a work that goes much further than a skating performance and cannot be replicated under normal circumstances. The poignancy it has in its current form cannot be achieved in any other way, especially the choice of camera angles seems crucial to the final effect.

if this is real it could be the beginning of a big change.

Unfortunately, as far as I understand, this only applies to social media. It doesn't address the main problem, which is the larger media companies, which can operate on a much larger scale than any individual SNS user, have the financial resources, lawyers and often political connections, and the manpower to carry out systemic harassment without repercussions. FS antis, random trolls and gullible gossip seekers are just another link in this chain, they just parrot and spread all the harmful nonsense, misinformation and hate they find in the tabloids, which is enough to make them complicit in destroying other people's lives, but not enough to solve the problem simply by increasing SNS operators' control over the content published on their platforms. It wasn't some random Twitter users who spied on Yuzuru, his partner, members of both their families and friends and invaded their private space to force them to disclose some information. So to me it looks more like a fig leaf, a perfect way to give the impression that someone is doing something in response to a momentary public outcry.

Unfortunately, in this day and age it is impossible to remain private... especially if you say you want to be private. That's like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Maybe in hindsight they should have released photos on their own terms, like some celebrities do, in order to lower demand for pap pictures and control the narrative... but, I'm not in Japan so I can't know if that approach would work there. Yes, i realize that is 180 degrees out of character for him...and, No, you should not have to do this... but this is his current reality... and his actual approach did not work.

Please, please, please, dear Liv and everyone, refrain from suggesting that it was Yuzuru who did something wrong and should have done something differently. First of all, from everything I have been able to learn about how things work in Japan, his way of communicating and acting about the marriage was normal. Many other Japanese public figures did the same. Shizuka Arakawa has been married since 2013 and has children; both her marriage and the birth of her two children were announced to the public, but no picture has been published and the general public still doesn't know who her husband is. I have not heard of them facing the same aggressive intrusion into their private lives. I know it's hard to accept, but it really does seem that Yuzuru has been given "special treatment". It's not that his approach 'didn't work', it's that there are people who are really determined to harass him.

But more importantly, even if Yuzuru's approach was unusual in Japan, it wouldn't legitimize stalking, defamation and other forms of harassment against him, his wife and their families. What happened to him is not only inhuman and unacceptable, it's against Japanese law, and he's not the one responsible for ensuring that Japanese law is respected by other people, especially the media.

I know that all of us here on PH have good intentions and wish him the best, and because we feel hopeless, we try to find an answer as to how such a terrible situation could be avoided in the future, but please, please be careful with the wording as such discussions can unintentionally slip into blaming the victim. I'm sure he'll reflect on what happened, but the effort to change the situation for the future shouldn't fall on him, or any other victim of media abuse.

Yuzuru hasn't said anything and probably won't, and there is a good reason for that. If the couple wanted to reveal the wife's identity, they would have done so already. They haven't, and that should be respected.

That should be enough for an answer, but I think it is worth making a few more general comments. As for the spread of this particular gossip, from what I can tell the source is the same tabloids that keep trying to convince the public that they have found out who she is, dropping one name after another. The mere fact that this time their "candidate" got more traction and the gossip was picked up by some more trustworthy looking media does not mean she is the one. Gossip repeated a million times may start to look like fact, but it is not the same as being fact. Truth is not a matter of how many people believe something or how many people claim it to be true. As long as Yuzuru remains silent, there is no way for the public to really know. But most importantly, even if she was the wife, naming her publicly is a violation of the boundaries Yuzuru established, and as such it is an aggressive act. Being curious is one thing, doing something against someone's will is another. It is also potentially dangerous for her - whether she is the wife or not - and opens the door to further prying and harassment of her and Yuzuru by the same media. Once the tabloids have a name that the public is willing to believe, they can build on it whatever narrative suits their interests. And let's not be naive, their interests have nothing to do with Yuzu's welfare. On the contrary, there are too many people in Japan and around the world who are interested in hurting him.

In the age of the Internet and social media, it's impossible not to come across this kind of "news" from time to time, but my opinion is that if we don't want to become involved, even unconsciously, in any kind of hostile campaign against Yuzuru, it's better not to engage with this kind of content, no matter how nice and harmless it may seem at first glance.

Sorry for quoting myself, but this is exactly what I was talking about.

We don't have Salt Mines on PH anymore, so it wasn't shared here, but reportedly there were a lot of things going on in Japan since he announced his marriage, and it looked to some fans like it was at least partly an organised effort against him, with a notable role of some tabloids, which I was told are owned by Nikkan, the same one that had leaked the info about his retirement before his press conference, and as a result has been boycotted by JFanyus and seen a severe drop in sales. I don't know these things first hand and I've never read the articles myself (firstly, I wasn't interested in gossip, secondly, I didn't want to give the tabloids any clicks, because to get any kind of engagement was exactly the reason why they continued to stalk and harass him, his wife, their families and friends), so I'm not the best person to talk about it, but even the little that reached my ears sounded awful. My understanding is that these tabloids created a kind of echo chamber that amplified the message and made many people believe and parrot what was published. So please don't think he got divorced because of a few crazy fans wandering around his house. I'm not saying he didn't suffer from his fans, or rather people who used to be his fans, but apparently there's some big money and interests involved. This is probably why he felt hopeless: it seems there was nothing he could do about it, because his main enemies, who started and fueled the whole thing, were just too powerful.

It's so easy to destroy someone's life. I'm so sad and angry. So f*cking angry.

Hi guys, I know it's been a long time, since I posted, but I need to tell you my feelings from GIFT. I have been waiting for a long time until one great Fanyu from the Czech Republic finally translated GIFT subtitles into Czech. And I have to say, that because it was in my native language I was able to (finally) completely understand what Yuzu wanted to tell us in this story. And these emotions... I laughed, cried, felt the tension. But I realised how alone he was sometimes and how many things he suffered. But every time, when he came on the ice, everything broke up, because the power of the crowd and the atmosphere (I think) made him so happy that he's a figure skater and suffered all the bad. And the final, these words which came after Seimei... I got so much energy to support him every single day of his professional career. There was also the interview one day after, when came that one realisation... Sometimes, he's just like me. A few years ago, I was bullied by my classmates (I'm still a student, you know). And then, I was alone... I wasn't, I had family, but I felt like I am. But, videos of Yuzu's skating, voice, music and everything connected to him helped me get through it. Just like he wanted. Because of this, I'm where I am... With my new friends, new hobbies, and new motivation... And I'm here with you all, supporting Yuzu, because he helped me so much.

PS. Sorry for my bad english ❤️

I like your story, thank you for sharing

This is so AMSR! He speaks with such a velvety voice and in such a warm way about his hometown that I got emotional. It's very different from his usual promotional videos. I'm enchanted.

    Story told solely through movement.

    Dynamics differentiation.

    Isolations.

    Speed.

So many diverse movements. Movements we've never seen him do before.

    Balance testing.

    Hip-hop hydro.

    Floorwork. Footwork. Flightwork?

    100% dramazuru ending.

    Yeah, he's cool :smiley-cool14:

Hello everyone i was away for couple of days. i know in this forum satellites dont like to talk about yuzu’s privacy and actually me neither but this time something different happend and i didnt see anyone talked this here untill now. anyway recently i saw a lot of “yuzuru’s potential wife” rumors again. The japanese media made lot of fake news and have said many names already and most of the people didnt believe it and so didnt i. But this time they are saying that yuzuru married with a violinist Suenobu Mayuko and i researched her a bit and all of her videos on YouTube are filled with “congratulations on your marriage with hanyu” comments. And nearly everyone i saw accepted it. I guess they finally found the right person. If she is really his wife then i would be happy because she really seems like a lovely, talented and a mature woman but i am not sure should i believe it or not because yuzuru still didnt say anything. Is there anyone who knows about this topic?

    edit: thank you for ghosting

I want this picture as a large format, high quality photographic reproduction, framed and hung on my wall.

Yes, right next to the black Elle/Gucci series by TAKAY and black & white visuals from Gift.

Hi everyone! I finally finished this special analysis of GIFT, which happened to become about three times as long as originally intended :space:

It was so much fun to dig in the history books and find out about all the little details. Two little notes:

    • My inner math nerd just couldn't resist, so I created a 3D model of the arena setting and calculated the sizes of the screens :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:
    • I stumbled across the connection between the show's first half and the Five Elements Theory in Taoism completely by coincidence. When I was learning the kanji for the weekdays in Japanese, my learning app noted that the kanji for Tuesday to Saturday are based on the Five Elements. Then I remembered the programs of the first half of GIFT and suddenly ... it clicked. When I later found out that Mansai Nomura drew the connection as well, I was over moon :studsmatta:

I hope, you enjoy the article :tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

Henni, thank you soooo much! I read your analysis of Gift and again marveled at the scale, complexity and originality of this work. I hope everyone who comes to that site will experience the same, and if they haven't seen the show so far, they will catch up quickly. You are doing an amazing and extremely important job. The whole idea of creating such a site is wonderful. I hope Google's algorithms quickly learn that this is a first-class resource and start positioning your site at the top of the search results. I wish you all the best in your future work and look forward to your next articles!

Edit: I hope someone will do a full translation, I have the impression that some parts are missing from the text posted above.

The behind scenes footage was lovely. Yuzu having his hair done and costume sorted. He looks fantastic in the beautiful costume performing his signature jump. The costume was gorgeous design, looked as if it was made from a jacquard type of fabric with gold piping and embroidery.

He really lives his anime/manga life right now

  15. Has it been shared yet?

Akiko Suzuki congratulates Yuzu on his marriage

DeepL translation of the video description:

Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu announced his marriage on his SNS on April 4.

Akiko Suzuki, a professional figure skater who competed alongside him at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, offered the following words of congratulations in an interview with Me-Tele.

I was frankly very surprised. I am very happy that he has found happiness not only as a skater but also as a person.

I think marriage is something that will make him more fulfilled, which will be reflected in his performance as well. I hope he will continue to show us such wonderful skating.

(From "Up!", aired from 15:40 on August 7 on Me-Tele. from Me-Tele "Up!")
