Yuzu is fully aware of the judging shenanigans in this sport, which has been intensifying in recent years. With the ability of reading the whole situation well, he knows it’s getting him nowhere to do a 5-6 jumps routine - firstly he’s not going to feed into the US narrative by joining others to chase the appointed one but more importantly, he will not compromise on artistry and his ideals of figure skating. Yet he has to differentiate himself from the rest. Hence, his conclusion of bringing 4A to win in the Beijing Olympics. As long as the 4A is ratified in the Beijing Olympics, this will be his ‘first’ win in this Olympics edition. He will be able to account to his younger self that he has finally fufill all his childhood dreams, this being the biggest and most challenging one. It is also one that he has more control of vs winning a gold medal (he certainly has the capabilities to go for his ‘second’ win if bias scoring is non-existent). Contrary to some opinions shared here that there will be fairer judging at the Olympics, I am not hopeful at all (am only too glad to be proven wrong though). Nathan being unbeaten and having his name cast in stone for breaking records (WRs and having highest scores for xxx jumps) since PyeongChang Olympics shows the determination to crown a US skater as the Olympics champ (Evan Lysacek last won it in 2010) and a FS legend. With so much human intervention, the US narrative is really close to its conclusion/completion, so it makes no sense to stop at the Olympics what has been painstakingly built up over the past (at least) four years. Plus they are getting hungrier and more impatient with each passing year, let alone wait for another Olympic cycle. I, together with many more, share Roman Sadovsky’s view that he who lands the first ratified 4A, a humanly impossible jump in an international competition, thus achieving a historic feat, deserves the gold medal. Does this call for (max) divine intervention for Yuzu, especially after seeing the USNats results and scorings? Praying for the best possible outcome for Yuzu, the warrior

Thanks for the translation. Maybe I'm overly cautious but won't such open and detailed discussions provides an insight or heads-up to rivals who are training and competing to be ahead of the race with a 4A (eg. Dmitriev) ? Why not wait till Yuzu lands the ratified 4A before broadcasting such programs?

I’m inclined to share the same view as @mary_kyo re the prolonged discriminatory scoring post PC Oly on Yuzu cannot be underestimated. As @Kadova rightly pointed out, Yuzu was being underscored even before PyeongChang 2018. The situation was not as dire then because the key difference - Yuzu was still able to win if he fought hard in competitions. But post 2018 Winter Olympics, despite Yuzu's best efforts, Nathan miraculously remained unbeaten until Skate America 2021. In sports, an athlete’s mental prowess is as important, if not more critical to sporting success if all else being equal. It speaks volume if Yuzu, not just another elite athlete but a 2-time OG champ revealed he was self-doubting and feeling depressed at some point. Why would he be immune to such treatments? He is, after all, as human as anyone of us. Hence, I believe his supporters will not see/fault him as an athlete who is unable to cope with underscoring. In fact, I have always marvelled at him for not taking a break or succumbing to any major mental health issue that forces an early retirement. Even a layman like me, can tell apart over time, this athlete’s performances were examined and judged microscopically. It was an unique situation for him and him alone, leading to accumulating heightened tension/stress competition after competition, season after season until the pandemic puts a pause to it. There are two sides of the same coin. Who, on the other hand, gains the most from the above situation? From massive scores and psychological point of view, it’s obviously the appointed one. He can relax (much lower risk of making mistakes) and be rest assured that the gap between them will widen as long as he lands his jumps. Nevertheless, I believe the forces of the Universe are gathering speed and stars are aligning well...the dark clouds are dissipating, the dark hours are ending and awaiting Yuzu is the rainbow he is chasing. Praying for the best possible outcome for Yuzu, the warrior.

I'm not sure if this has been shared previously. For the latest update of FS Overview and Complete schedules at 2022 Beijing Olympics, pls refer to : https://www.beijing2022.cn/en/schedule/calendar.htm (copy and paste in browser)

Yes, it is. Thanks for your suggestion, I'll take note of it on my next attempt to embed a pic.

Here's my New Year's wish for Yuzu : I hope the love, prayers, well-wishes and encouragement from all over the world manifest in the brightest starlight glittering at you whenever you lookup into the night sky, lifting your spirits, providing you with energy, wisdom and healing powers. May the new year brings you good health, success and the manifestation of great things! Praying for the best possible outcome for Yuzu, the warrior

I'm grateful for the existence of this planet, those running it and fellow satellites for sharing their experiences, opinions, media contents and doing translations for the benefit of the rest of the community here. A BIG thank you and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all! Off-topic: I'm trying to add an image here but after providing the url link and clicking Insert into post button, there's no image displayed on this post. Is there any issue with this feature?

All countries, especially the traditional powerhouses, would love to shout out they, too, have produced a FS superstar like Yuzu. So, take it in good faith that they are recognising and acknowledging his greatness (indirectly) when they make such comparisions.

I’m with you @makebelieveup and @gapil27 re comments on some of his costumes and their effects on body proportions. I agree the Origin costumes provide a more balanced effect, easier to the eye compared to Otonal 1.0 (tho I love the back details). I feel a more imposing presence coming from Origin 1.0 costume while a softer vibe for Origin 2.0 (maybe due to the presence of flowers and butterflies details and more uncovered parts of its translucent top). I have to admit it wasn’t love at first sight for me on the Rondo costume. Unfortunately, with due respect to its designer, it came across as a mismatach look with too much details - V neckline, jagged edges at the waist and the collar. These various lines seem to be clashing and fighting for attention. Maybe it will grow on me over time.. But of course, there are more important aspect of the SP he’s focusing and working to improve on, according to what he stated in interviews. I can visualise him skating Rondo in Crystal Memories costume (if it is not considered too glittery and the material not too heavy for use in a competition, or at least in Galas). This topic inevitably leads to his ‘costumes’ at the open practice sessions. The simple black UA gears immediately draw the eyes to his beautifully well proportioned, well-toned and well-defined body and lines. I appreciate beauty. That’s why I find his training gear looks, especially those with long-sleeves very appealing. It’s Friday again, enjoy the upcoming weekends!

Sharing my thoughts on the just concluded JNats: I’ve not felt so happy after a FS competition for a long while, no thanks to the preferential/bias scoring after PyeongChang Olympics. Yuzu smiling at the Kiss n Cry seems like a distant memory until last weekend. It hurts to be reminded how long and how much clownery he has to put up with. To me, what stood out at the competition was Yuzu’s undaunted courage and conviction. He went ahead and attempted the 4A despite it is still a work in progress, hasn’t reached his ideal form. I was very relieved that he didn’t fall after the 4A attempt (crucial to staying injury-free and avoiding disruptions to his concentration) and proceeded to present a brilliant routine. This being his first competition of the season, I was floored by his performances. I’m equally impressed by him for vocalising and drawing attention to the minimal crossovers in his SP, yet his Transition score of 9.57 was the lowest of PCS? Frankly, Beijing Olympics suddenly seems more interesting to me after Yuzu fought and rightfully earned himself a ticket to this most prestigious competition. I love it when he declared in interviews that he would go and staunchly defend his title with a 4A, fulfilling his childhood dream of landing one. I found this year’s JNats the most interesting edition as it reignited the ‘Olympic flame’ in him. I’m relieved he finally realises and relishes the unique situation he is in - the only competitive skater eligible for a third Olympic gold medal come next Feb. Yuzu’s narrative is by far more compelling and news-worthy than some scripted, one-sided narrative being played out these past few years. This is because his narrative involves a chain of naturally occurring events spanning over more than a decade. Thanks to his passion in this sport, supreme talent, relentless hardwork and the longevity of his competitive career lead him to this rare opportunity of a 3rd-time Olympian win. If life presents him with such an unexpected opportunity, I’d say go for it! Is he the Chosen One, destined for a lengthy reign in this sport? I’m so over with the judging shenanigans that I’m better off focusing and enjoying Yuzu’s growth as a skater, his quest in landing the 4A and performing two clean programs at the Olympics (ideal ones according to his standards). Lastly, I would like to leave this unknown quote for Yuzu : Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. PS: I have to say I love his new costume for LMEY. It cuts a slim and longer look, especially the legs.

I would like to think JNats provides the important opportunity for Yuzu to attempt 4A in a competition setting before heading to the Olympics next year. He has the intelligence and sensibility to ignore/detract from media talks and naysayers' comments while staying focus on his goals. Hence, I am quietly confident his experiences (regardless of the outcome) at JNats provides further invaluable input for his training towards a ratified 4A jump in a future competition. Praying for the best possible outcome for this hugely inspiring and beautiful being....

Since my diagnosis of tennis elbow, I've been staying away from the computer as much as possible. It helps me to stay in a state of zen until Yuzu's confirmation of participation at JNats. Seeing him yesterday, I'm drawn to write down my wishes for him here - that he walks away from this competition remaining healthy and injury-free, a happy and satisfied man of his own efforts and performances. Yuzu, may you find renewed confidence and energy to reach for the stars, your lofty goals! Praying for the best possible outcomes for Yuzu

The diamonds are strategically placed on 7 and 12 as they reflect Yuzu's birthdate 7th Dec. Literal translation of its marketing description, it's also the start of glory. I hope this answers your query. As for price is Euro, I did a quick online conversion rmb$4630 = 642.28 Euro.

Dear Yuzu, I hope you have decided to pamper yourself by taking a day’s off from work (no FS-related stuff) to focus solely on spending some quality me time and with your loved ones. Forget about being Hanyu Yuzuru, the public figure, the FS star and athlete but simply enjoy being in the roles of a son, grandson, brother, cousin and friend. On this special day of yours, I hope you make time to visit the temple/shrine to pray for good (mental and physical) health and make your wishes for the year ahead. Wishing you a Blessed Birthday and many more Blessed Years ahead! May you always be surrounded with love, peace, happiness and good health. May your wishes and dreams come true.

Thank you for pointing out to us another beautiful being in Alexandre Bilodeau.

Thanks for your response. I've no idea how to make icons but I will try to do some online research on it first.

How did Yuzu warrant admiration, adoration and amass such huge, loyal and supportive global fan base in his competitive career that no amount of media propaganda can ever hope to achieve? Simply by staying true to himself and letting his work speak for itself. Since young, he has always been an artistic athlete.Through his perfect blend of highly artistic-highly technical and heartfelt performances, he was able to stir multitude of emotions in us, connecting and forging bonds with us. Time is required to cultivate a deep and intimate relationship with the audience. Competing in the Senior Circuit for more than a decade, time is on his side. According to Aristotle, “when these relationships blossom, they do so with trust, admiration and awe. They bring with them some of the sweeter joys that life has to offer.” Based on our appreciation of his character and goodness, I believe many of us formed friendships of virtue (Aristotle’s third type of friendship) with Yuzu. Before ending my post, I want to share the following quote with Yuzu (hope he’s lurking). Praying for the best possible outcome for you, Yuzu “When they judge you, yawn. When they misunderstand you, smile. When they underestimate you, laugh. When they condemn you, ignore. When they envy you, rejoice. When they oppose you, prevail.” ― Matshona Dhliwayo

@DancingFeather, I love your suggestion of using la gaia's (yes, the satellite that kindly shared Martina Frammartino's project of folding 1000 cranes for Yuzu which sets me thinking of what and how people like me (where attending Yuzu's competitions and displaying banners are out of the questions) can show our support and love for Yuzu. With more ideas generated from fellow satellites, I really hope we can use all of them (if technically feasible) to refresh the little icon on our profile pic periodically.
-
Couldn't agree more! There are and there will be many interpretations, depending on individuals. Oh, that's a lovely suggestion! Thanks for looking into it. If there are a few meaningful icons, maybe we can spread some cheers and surprise satellites by updating and refreshing with one every month till Yuzu's comeback (if it's not too time consuming?) or even quarterly basis? Please bear with me because I'm getting excited and this idea just popped into my head It helps to channel my energy to something positive and constructive rather than being dragged down by media propaganda.
-
I wasn't on board then, hence no idea fellow satellites folded cranes for Yuzu. Maybe we can get them to contribute an image of the cranes they folded (surely they must have pics for that)? Great minds think alike! Yes, I did think of a single gold feather but at this stage of his competitive career, he's not focusing on medalling but landing 4A. Hence, I dropped any colour schemes associated with the podium. I don't know how the team running this forum works. Do you guys need to meet (virtually) to vote and decide on issues that affect the design n feel of this platform? As I said previously, I'm only too happy if this rocket-like icon can be changed to reflect something more meaningful for Yuzu and satellites (no offence meant cos I'm unaware of the initial objective of introducing it).
-
@yuzuangel, thanks for your response. Since my last query, I have two images in mind - a single feather or a paper crane. I came across this article https://www.finefeatherheads.com/the-meaning-of-white-black-and-grey-feathers-a-message-from-the-divine/ and liked what was written. It contained nice feather pics too. I particularly like : “Feathers are sacred gifts from the Divine, a show of force from the heavens that they are listening to your prayers, your wishes and your desires. It’s a symbol of acknowledgment, that someone or something in the spirit world is looking out for you, keeping you safe and empowering you to whatever path you set upon. If you see a feather, your angel is near and they are reminding you that, with them, you are safe.” In view of the space constraints, I'm thinking of a single feather with options: 1) Either white or black single feather. I've a slight preference over white one though. 2) Black and white single feather As for the paper crane, I love Martina Frammartino's idea of folding cranes in Yuzu's costumes (someone shared it on this forum). For me, top on the list is Ten To Chi To for his current FS. However, it would clash with members' default profile pic. So next on the list is White Legend (for his senior debut). I think it would be wonderful to collaborate with his other supporters, bridging connections within the fanyu kingdom. The administrators or any keen party are welcomed to throw in more creative ideas I'm only too happy to show our support for Yuzu in another way besides the Yuzu banners that were creatively designed and displayed at competitions.

For this seemingly ’Mission Impossible’ scenario, it’s strictly a dream for the only resident/occupier of Planet Hanyu to execute Even then, I know it is still a tall order for him. There have been way too much human interventions up till now and it seems the only way to outdo them is his determination + hard work + divine intervention

I have taken my time to catch up on the Grand Prix Series (I have to admit it’s selective skaters) and am consoled that despite his young age, Yuma and Shoma (who was having issues with his jumps previously) have stepped up to medal at the competitions they have taken part in. More importantly, their scores make them medal contenders for Beijing Olympics (silver and/or bronze. Ahem, we know the gold has already been reserved…) which will not upset the US narrative but sit nicely with it. This, however, on a brighter note means that the duty and expectations of bringing home Olympics medal(s) do not have to rest solely on Yuzu’s shoulders. I hope this will free him to focus on his ultimate goal of writing history by being the first man to land a 4A in a competition. Speaking of which he can decide on which stage (Japan Nationals, 4CC, Beijing Olympics) he wants to debut the 4A whenever his ankle is ready. I would personally prefer the biggest stage of all - the Olympics, if it's possible. As the risk of injury is heightened for him, my wish is he goes for as few competitions as he could. In fact, it would be so out of this world if he just participate in only one comp but the biggest one of all this season and gave the world two ideal (by his standards) performances in which he also debut his 4A - hallelujah! Him attaining his ultimate goal would surely eclipse everything else that happens at the Beijing Olympics. For me, this would be sweetest revenge for what he has gone through for the past few seasons. Praying, praying for the best possible outcome for Yuzu

So relieved to hear he's withdrawn from CoR! As Brian Orser said in his interview, trust Yuzu to make the right decisions for himself.
