Oh so he is not planning to add 4Lo or 4Lz. Well, considering how Nathan’s jumps are scored and his unrealistic high PCS, I doubt Yuzu has a high chance of winning with this layout. Also realistically, I don’t think 4A will be ready in a month. But at the same time, I wasn’t expecting him to stay on his feet for the 4A in nationals FS too. I wonder what universe has in store for him.

If he changed 4A to 4Lo and 4Lz, he had a chance to win even with the scoring corruption but well, 4A is what he has bet his life on it. So who am I to judge this decision.

My prediction is that Nathan will ditch 4Lo as he was never good with that jump and he rotates it only using his physical power with no subtle technique. Nathan is already struggling with his other jumps but is obviously switching between his old empty programs to try to find the one which gives him the most consistency. Unfortunately, Nathan’s 5 quads layout with his both super empty recycled programs automatically get the high PCS he never deserved. So Yuzu can compete with Nathan only if he goes for 5 very stable perfect quads while doing his insanely packed programs. Anyway, I have no hopes for Beijing but I pray to see Yuzu’s perfect 4A at least once in any remaining competitions. That will go down in history with much more impact than Nathan’s gold in Beijing. If you ask me Nathan has already gone down in FS history as a controversial skater (or more precisely a jumper) with questionable scores and no PR or medals will ever change his tainted reputation sadly.

I think he means to do 4A together with 4lo/4lz is impossible.Doing 4A alone is demanding enough stamina wise.So if he is doing 4A he will stick with the current layout i think and if by Olympic the 4A is still not ready maybe he will evaluates back by adding 4lo or 4lz? Who knows what his plan ultimately..If his still want to win the gold medal maybe he will change his minds? He still can try to land 4A in Worlds or season after the Olympic because based on the the interview he will not retire anytime soon

I’m 99% sure that he won’t land it in FS but he definitely has his (hidden) reasons to include it. At the same time, he seems to be the type that actually perform better when there is pressure and high expectation. So if, by 1% chance, he actually lands an UR one in the FS, I won’t be that surprised.

I’m also very sure that he has A LOT better 4A attempts in practice. Practice is just very different from competitions. Maybe he wants to closer this gap too. I trust him that he knows what he is doing and this isn’t an emotional illogical decision. In any case, I have prepared myself mentally that today might not be a very pleasant day, result wise and media narrations.

Yes i think the percentage of him landing it is very slim but imagine if his able to land one. What a major news it will be!I just hope that even if  he falls on the 4A he still be able to land other jumps cleanly and with the gap from the sp he still might be able to win.I just want to see him happy winning jnats again

  3. I saw that Yuzu news of trying 4A even reach Russia and skaters was asked about that.I think it is brave of him to declare that especially since he has not landed it yet.Now all eyes are on him for the free skate and just hope that it is not putting to much pressure on him.My wish media will be kind to him after the free skate if he not able to land the 4A successfully

There are brief translations in the thread. Ok, well, if I understood correctly, they are pushing him to go to nationals because of obvious financial advantages. They are pretending that his injury is not severe and they use the updates from paparazzi and gossip tabloid who stalk him in the midnight as the evidence. Instead of condemning stalking behavior, they use their update on tv and the person who did it is Minoru Sano. They are claiming Shoma could have gotten gold in 2018 if he had landed his 4Lo there, which is not true, considering their score gap. (meanwhile the real question should be whether Shoma even deserved his silver but idc). Shoma saying he also has an ankle injury but did his best to win and the news obviously bold it for not good intentions. Not sure how true this is but Shoma is back to his adoring Nathan phase again and praised Nathan as the best etc etc he is confident on his ability to beat Yuzu etc etc but this is sport so I don’t find it a big deal myself. The invited judging panel in NHK involved several judges with the past of severe underscoring Yuzu, invalidating his spins, being overly generous to Nathan, etc… The media is also writing pages on conspiracy rumors from antis which I rather not to get into details but it’s easy to guess what they are (like using injury as strategy, does he deserve to go to Olympics if he doesn't participate in nationals, etc).   Literally, no one really has his back, in the most sensitive time of injury. It's hard for me to understand how stupid they could get to throw their own star under the bus, in the Olympic season. It's like treating a jewelry as a trash. I always feel they want to spread this narrative that Yuzu is replaceable, past his prime and is only a regular skater atm.

Thanx for the info.I dont get it why his own country treats him like that.I get it if ISU acts likes that since they have their own agenda..and Shoma really said that?i always thought that he always polite and respect Yuzu.

  6. I am only able to watch a little bit of NHK without feeling sad again thinking about what if Yuzu didnt injured and able to compete.Especially after knowing that he has prepared and practiced so much for this competition.I wonder what Yuzu must be feeling right now watching its on tv...

  7. Im unable to sleep at all thinking of this situation...and cant imagine how Yuzuru felt. From being excited to attend NHK and wanting to jump the 4A(from the interview) now to this.I just hope its not so serious injury as before.I get a feeling the injury is no so recent just its didnt fully heals by NHK.Also seeing in other sites that people mocking him for being reckless  practicing 4A during Olympic season really making this situation more sad...How do u guys cope with this during last Olympic cycle?Sorry for posting a lot about this as i had no one in my life who knew Yuzu so that i can vent this frustration out.He means a lot to me and seeing his skating really help me gets tru the pandemic

Only one person has said this in this super long thread of reactions to this new injury, but I feel it would be the absolute wisest decision for Yuzu to get back to Toronto immediately, where he can get the treatment he needs and the coaching he's been missing.  Don't go to COC - just heal and train, with the proper medical people and actual coaches.

I am devastated for him, but not actually surprised.

I dont know about him going back to Toronto..i think its depends on what he wants in the future/ahead.From based on the interviews that we get from his he just want to land the 4A  and one of the reasons he participates in the gp was because of that.If he really wants to be competitive and goes to the Olympic he will have gone back to Toronto once the border was open.I had the impressions he had already give up the idea of going to Beijing when he wished Nathan good luck for the Olympic during the last Worlds press conference.Because he knows it is impossible to win now with how  the judging/scoring  was now against him and in previous interview he said only if he thinks he can win that he will go to the Olympic. So in my opinion what Yuzu doing now is just to continue skate and fulfilling his dreams of landing 4A.Im sure he knew the risk of attempting the jumps especially if its resulting in injury and preventing him from winning the Olympic.I think since going to the Olympic is not on his minds now thats why he is more freely to practice the 4A

  9. I have been thinking whether this injury is recent or not.Based on the statement he said about rehabilitating on ice...maybe he had the fall that causing the injury quite some time ago but just now made a statement since its still unable to completely heals by NHK.The video about him wanting to jump quad axel i think was recorded some while ago
