Shizuka: What you've accumulated and your achievements to date won't change so –

There's one word that's missing in the translation which makes Yuzu's response even more meaningful. Shizuka said one more word after "so" before Yuzu replied and that word was: "OMOIKIRI" which means "give it your all", "take the plunge" or "go for broke" (risk everything in an all-out effort).

I really love Shizuka's words. They must really encourage yuzu. She was a top of top athlete. She won Gold medal at Olympics for the first time as an Asian country! How big it was considering FS history.

And she is so considerate. At Pyongchang, she went their earlier for her TV job, and sent yuzu Olympics arena for yuzu in Canada. She said he relied my costume will fit with it. She did not ask about his injury, etc., but just sent the photos.

:scratch3: This doesn't make sense much to me, cause what if those qualified ppl got Covid anyway!!  Isn't it better to sell tickets but put high measures like quarantine and negative Covid test before entering!?  As fans will be more cautious not to get infected once they get the tickets!!!  They wouldn't want to miss the event!!

I have read in Japanese blog, so please correct me if I am wrong. I have heard tickets will be sold to sponsor companies, public companies. The reason is, if any covid between audience occurs, you can easily chase and treat per organization. It is more difficult for individuals.

I'm alive after this ocean of information from JNats. I don't know how... So because of my tiredness I fell on my new year's performance on ice. My first fail, it's better than if it was in competition.

And I fell in love with new SP. :8788161: I don't know how many times I've already watched it. But I think a billions. :tumblr_inline_mm2wbaeqQM1qz4rgp:

So! After a ton of translation Hanyu words last two weeks I'm afraid I will speak in japanese like him. :headdesk:

I'm late a little, but... HAPPY NEW 2022 YEAR! Wish all of you will have a lot of happiness and wealth in this year. And all Hanyu's dreams will come true. :snonegai:

Yeah, we are screaming with joy in the storm of his words!

And he is so bright. The questions from media don't change so much. What they want to ask is mostly the same.  But he changes his answers, vocabularies a bit per interview.

So we can enjoy more of his words. He is the best interviewee. He can response more than required.

This was such a moment LoL

For the past years, I was away from figure skating world, and cannot catch up the info.

Where is it? Does anyone know the video of it? FaOI?

It seems US Nationals will be live streamed on Olympic channel.

Yes, I think Olympics will be broadcasted on Eurosport like last time in 2018. The men's events will be in the middle of the night (thanks to NBC...) but we'll manage somehow. Well I'll definitely take 1-2 days off from work.

Ohh,,, thank you so much. I could set the reminder!

Okay! We are ready for Olympics at Eurosports. Yeah, I remember I got so excited at Pyonchang and could not sleep at all even after the game.. :drama:

  6. I am the only one who is so excited about Olympics? One after another news from Beijing. They are doing wonderfully in this situation.

Let us recall the schedule (Beijing time)

    2/4
    Team Event
    M Short Program
    Ice Dance Rhythm Dance
    Pairs Short Program
    09:55-14:55

    2/6
    Team Event
    W Short Program
    M Free Skating
    09:30-12:40

    2/8
    Figure Skating
    M Short Program
    09:15-13:30

    2/10
    M Free Skating
    09:30-13:40

    2/20
    Gala Exhibition
    12:00-14:30

This time, it is very tough, early in the morning (considering covid test, doping test, early practice, at which time skaters should get up? It is such a relief he can go from the place with only 1 hour time difference in this bubble system).

My prediction is Men's Team free is third, Yuma considering the schedule. So SP is Shoma or Yuzu. As long as yuzu is in a good shape, the possibility is very high that yuzu will have team SP on Feb.4. Again, it is Deja Vu of Sochi.

Yeah, Men's event right after team event is quite hard. But considering the situation, to finish the event early is better, I think. The stress of every day test, being afraid of withdrawal is so much.

And what make me pleased is one-day interval between SP and FP. At Sochi, Pyongchang... It has been pointed out that these days highly technical Men's field, succeeding schedule is too tight. And one-day interval is the same as Nationals 2021.

I think liveqq just worked fine last year. It'll probably work this year too (or other sites like VK will stream it).

Thanks. I hope so. JP Nationals 2021 was also very well at QQ streaming.

You are in Hungary, right? Me either, in Czech. I subscribe Eurosports, and can I watch winter Olympics at live? I watched Tokyo Olympics this summer, and I thought it was live. Unfortunately, Men's time at Europe is past midnight, it is very tough (it reminds me of Pyongchang..).

Though the information is not confirmed, Chinese fanyus are really worried. Figure skating is not popular in general public in China at all. Arranged tickets basically mean that most of the audience are not figure skating fans and have little to none knowledge about figure skating. I wonder how many audience understand what 4A is. In such case, I don't think Yuzu will have bigger ovation which he always has (though many people have heard of Yuzu, but that's it, also the factor that he is a Japanese, which may make general public hesitant to give exceptional ovation). And as Yuzu is a very sensitive person and can always feel the reaction from the audience, I really wish he could use the Team event to get used to such awkward audience situation. Let's just wait for the final tickets arrangement decision. No matter what, I really wish Yuzu could be mentally prepared for it, which will be very different from his previous two Olympics.

Thank you for your insightful comment from inside China. Come to think of your comment, having team event  is more reasonable decision. :rock:This Olympics really recalls me of Sochi. At that time, the venue was Russia call (And he mistook it as Hanyu call!). It seems as long as he is healthy, he will have SP this time. He said he will use his experiences so far. And it's a shame, Nationals 2013, 2012... they were totally 'away' for yuzu because of the other big skater fans (I don't say the name here). Poor thing, he is get used to performing even in 'hostile' atmosphere from his young age. Of course, Beijing Olympics is different from such a hostile situation of Nationals. 'Figure skating is not popular', does not have so much damage to him.

I wish the tickets sales will go well (Most of all, I want Chinese fans to watch yuzu!!!.), and I believe his performances will attract people who are not interested in figure skating. He has brought very nice 2 programs in both SP and FP. And I have imaged the arena, and his costumes both really fit with the arena.:cheer:

Maybe it's just me but I don't think it's that good that tickets will be allocated. It's okay to allocate certain % of the tickets to public companies/sponsors but that if none (or almost none) of the fans will be able to go is just sad.:tumblr_inline_n18qr8XewT1qid2nw: It's always good if there are fans who know what to look for in the performance, when to clap, when to stay completely silent etc. And it'd have been great for Chinese fanyus to go the Olympics and give their support for Yuzu. It's been seven years since Yuzu skated in China for the last time and his fans there are always so loyal and supportive...they'd have deserved to support him in the arena.

Yeah, I agree. Of course, the supports from Chinese fanyu is big. And last competition was Shanghai Worlds? That's sad... My feelings are just like, it was good to avoid no-audience. Without pandemic, we can just cheer up. Haa...

  10. Yeeey!  It is the best news for me from weibo.

I have been concerned that Olympics may be no spectator. It was the biggest worry.

Olympics without audience is painful. I really realized it at Tokyo Olympics this summer.

After 2 months since Tokyo Olympics, the World championship of artistic and rhythmic gymnastics was held in Japan, Kitakyusyu, with full audience.

Athletes really were pleased with the audience, and mentioned how the audience was important, and gave them powers after the experience of Tokyo.

For a skater like yuzu, who connects deeply with audience, audience is a must. I really have wished, please please with audience!

And I read, from Weibo (so it's not official, but it must be more certain) that the tickets won't be sold to public, but be allocated to public companies, sponsor companies in  Beijing! Accordingly, fans cannot watch live, but those companies' people are audience. I think, it's a good thing for yuzu. Unlike figure skating fans, they don't have bias, and simply will cheer up for wonderful performances. Not just classical music, ballet, but Chinese traditional opera (京劇)... The quality of art culture in Beijing is high, and they must have good eyes. Yuzu's programs must please their eyes. From my point of view, audience is more important than judges in Olympics.

    Adorable!!  :tumblr_inline_n0o1ffBcXo1qid2nw:

I have a question though. Why does younger Yuzu always put もん at the end of his sentences? I've seen it in other fanart but I don't think I've heard Yuzu use that (at least in the older interviews I've seen of him). Does it mean something? Is it slang?

This is the difficulty of Japanese! It is showing childish strong will. Yeah, this is childish, and not at all formal. He should not use it at official scenes!

    This is so cute!

    1st

    Child yuzu

"I shall get the jump! I shall! I shall!

I never give up! I keep doing until I get it!

I fall but I am all right! I never cry!

I never ever give up until I make a success! I have decided!"

    2st

    Child yuzu

"Still you cannot get the jump? You are already 27 yo, but you cannot make my dream come true?"

    Adult yuzu

"Yeah, I will! Absolutely! Wait for a while! Don't worry! I have not given it up!"

Thank you so much for your hard work. May I translate/summarize it into Italian (with proper credits, of course) on my blog, for all Italian fans?

I know  you through Nymphea blog! Thank you and Italian fans for your continuous supports!

Wow! It is so exquisite! I have heard that the theme of medals is 天地(heaven and earth), of course, it's the same as our 天と地と.

Beautiful blue. This really fits with his elegance. And yuzu was not at all conscious of Olympics though, his blue costumes in SP and FP really fit with Beijing Olympics color.

    Winds are blowing for him.

(And from the experience of Tokyo Olympics this summer, those who are working for Beijing Olympics must be having hard hard times. Olympics in this situation cannot be achieved without the dedication of so many people. I really respect them and thank them. And still the tickets are not sold. Please please with spectators! Audience is a must in sports. I wish things will go well!).

I'm concerned that the delivery time might take longer than usual due to the pandemic and Olympics... :tumblr_inline_mg16f1RxCn1qdlkyg:

Yeah, I think so. But the committee may accept. And post card by simp;e airmail is usually around only 2$. They don't expect any registered mail. If it should not reach him, it won't cause a damage. It's just a simple trial, lucky!

  16. Let's send your message to yuzu!

    https://www.douban.com/group/topic/251193396/?_i=1140382CNa8ltv

I remember some days ago our member introduced it, sending fanletter to athletes at Beijing Olympics.
It seems we can send the post card (card only, not envelope, not present) directly to Beijing Olympic committee.

They will give them to athletes.
I have sent so many airmails to China at my job.  I think the following address is enough. You can write your address and name in English as well.

    Postal code: 100000

    Attn: Yuzuru Hanyu

    Figure Skating Men single

    P.O.Box Beijing 102022

    Beijing 100000, China

Please note the deadline is Jan.15.

I think postcards will be sent quickly usually by airmail.

I will dispatch soon from Europe. I guess it will be in time.

Sorry I can't answer your question, but I really hope Yuzu does the SP. Although maybe he wants an opportunity to try the 4A in the free, but it's way too close to the actual competition!

Thank you! Yeah, we don't know what is true (so far JP media is silent.), but the previous schedule 7 (Team Free Men), 8 (ind, Men) was controversial, since it's very tough.
I hope the information that team Men is moved to 6. Men's schedule will be much easier for skaters. As for team event, if he has, it would be SP, I think! It's the same as Sochi.
