....again, someone mentions a song having Japanese lyrics as somehow making it unsuitable for competition. Why? I ask this out of honest curiosity. There have been many skaters in the past who have used pieces with non-English lyrics for their competitions (every piece ever skated to opera comes to mind), WTH would it make a difference if the lyrics were Japanese?

He just skated a whole season with HYK , which is sung in Japanese, as his EX and no one complained, so What. The. Duck?

The only things holding Yuzu back from using Masquerade are: 1. Whether he can make it into a competition-ready program, and 2. Whether he can get the performance rights to use it.

#2, is, in my opinion, the real obstacle. Remember the lengths he had to go to in order for Joe Hisashi to agree to let him use H&L? And remember how Kevin Reynolds had to scrap his programs mid-season last year because Hisashi wouldn't grant him rights? That's where the trouble lies. not 'because the song's in Japanese'.

Just how prejudiced do you think the rest of the world is? Ayoyoi!

Anyway, the way Toshi is gushing like a newly-minted fanboy over Yuzu, I would not be surprised if he gives Yuzu carte blanche to use any song he likes, for anything he likes.

I am not prejudiced at all honestly, was just saying that coz we all know Yuzu hadn't used any Japanese lyrics for anything international. Please don't assume the worst in people and be more realistic. We're fellow satellites, no one is better than anyone, just different. There is more than one standard in the world.

Can we move on from this debate please

I am honestly more interested to know whether Masquerade or Crystal Memories will be his exhibition. I haven't been excited over an exhibition this much for a while, and I'm just laughing because I was a little disappointed at first when knowing it was POTO 2.0 LOL at least if he keeps Otonal and Origin next season, I can look forward to his ex.

Kind of a pointless debate to me without a real source from the person himself lol. Moving on, I wish he would pick Masquerade, but it's in Japanese so I'm not sure. Crystal Memory is more likely?

I would also like to add that it's possible for CBC to be a great organization overall yet have messed up on this one issue. I mean, it's a giant organization, it's going to make mistakes every once in a while. (As an American citizen, I would certainly trade some of our news organizations for it :13877886: aaaand that's all I'm gonna say about that lol.)

Yeah. CBC might be great overall for some, but for this particular topic about Yuzu's fans, they've mocked them enough for us to say that they made mistakes, and they still continue to. I mean, look at that lady's face for crying out loud. So disgusted and all -_-

So I keep seeing that Alina's PCS should go up because she's the reigning Olympic gold medalist, but Yuzu's also the reigning Olympic gold medalist, and this hasn't happened to him? In fact his PCS has dropped. I don't think people's PCS should go up because of their gold medalist status, but uh, isn't it kind of strange that the expectation in women's is totally different than the expectation in men's?

Well, the first year when Yuzu got his Sochi gold, he obviously had his PCS advantage against other skaters, too. But his PCS was proven by his skills and fluidity on the ice, he's really at the top. And for Alina, I think she hasn't reached that stage yet to be given an obvious PCS advantage, hence many comments about her PCS scores.

If anyone can speak Korean, please help :snonegai:

Eh, some people are just that toxic, let's just not stoop to their level. It's not like we don't care about Yuzu, but if that blatantly absurd post was given response, they'll just act crazier. :3:

I agreed about the unnecessary side lunge. It made his programs look busy because he can't hold his position longer.

But, according to judges, you need to be super busy to gain that TR points ( Alina's always busy, Shoma's and Nate's gazillion crossovers made them look super busy hence high TR).

    I'm kidding :3:

Back on track, I'm super excited for his first GP! How's the first GP curse going so far?

  7. So, I was bored and randomly checking wiki pages for several skaters. Guess what I found! The ISU world record for other skaters excluding Zuzu had their historic records and new system records, while for his page, they just put his ACI 2018 score. I wonder why? :14066882:

Hey there! Welcome to the planet, and don't worry, plenty of people here don't have English as the native language. Hope you like it here!

This. I feel like this is true. If it wasn't skating, then it would have been something else, maybe. Some people just have the light.

I've always felt like this. He's someone who will shine everywhere. No matter what he does later. Because he has the drive, the motivation, and everything else..:tumblr_inline_n2pje2YFXq1qdlkyg:

You're braver than I am - I've watched the SP and gala (and that near brought me to tears) and both of Javi's but I can't face Yuzu's FS having learned what I have...

I watched it once, and I hope that I won't watch it anymore in the future.. :59227c768286a__s::14066882:

I've always found it odd when certain commentators are like "So and so was undefeated during his time. Yuzuru is not. So he isn't GOAT" and I'm like... hmmm... I do see what you're saying, but also, on the flip side, isn't it even more impressive that he's managed to succeed when his competitors are all also really good?

Its really just two ways of looking at it. Are they only going to acknowledge a GOAT as someone who dominates the field (regardless of how tough the field is), and wins everything and every competition? I can honestly see where they are coming from with that, and I do see how if they use that definition of "GOAT" then Yuzu certainly is not the GOAT. Or are they actually going to look at his skating to say he's the GOAT?

They just don't want to admit it if possible. I mean, look at Med and Zagitova, both were undefeated in their golden seasons, but I still don't think with that undefeated streaks they are the best of all time. They are great, of course. Those people are just too salty to admit he's a GOAT. :dpooh:

Hasn't he got the mythical beast once, during GPF '15? I think he keeps going because he said winning Olympic Gold twice will be legendary.

(But some are still reluctant to acknowledge your GOAT status Yuzu, you might need to go for a thrice.)

    :13877886:

Those "some" are just jealous that they're not even worth mentioning. Honestly those people's era got it easier and they wanna complain here aand there. No thanks.
