Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of novels lately. I started reading a novel called 'Chimera' (Baku Yumemakura). When I read it, I was hooked! From there, I started thinking about reading other novels little by little. Reading... I didn't do that at all until now. If I did read, it was usually just skimming through the original books of movies I had watched. When I was really young, I liked historical stories, and I read 'Kojiki' and 'Tokaidochu Hizakurige'. In elementary and middle school, we had reading time, so I would read during that time. So when I started reading novels recently, I once again realized how amazing Japanese is. It's deep and difficult. Writing articles must be tough too (laughs). At the same time, I became concerned about my poor Japanese... I started to think, 'I'm no good at this.' The spoken and written Japanese are completely different, and it is very difficult. Thinking about such things, it also connects to the expression in skating. For example, let's say there is a story. If the 'written word' is the faithful expression of that story on the ice, then the 'spoken word' is when you add your own interpretation to it. You listen to the music and create a story that's different from the original one, based on your own interpretation. When that is added, the program becomes something truly great, and an even more beautiful thing emerges. A story is complete in itself, and it's wonderful as it is. So, even if you follow it faithfully, it can still turn out beautiful in its own way. But if you add an accent to it, it draws the viewer in even more. It's just like a novel, where the story comes to life by adding spoken words, rather than just explaining the scenes and events in written language. After all, figure skating, which is what I do, is a sport of expression. I am reading novels while feeling this little by little.

  22. 2025.02.07 Info: https://x.com/tv_kanazawa/status/1887713661248282751 https://www.tvkanazawa.co.jp/event/notocharity [Notice] Report on donations from the Noto Peninsula Reconstruction Support Charity Performance The income and expenditures for the "Noto Peninsula Reconstruction Support Charity Performance - Challenge" held at Kenmin Sports Plaza on September 15, 2024 have been finalized, with revenue from distribution and other sources amounting to 43,878,649 yen. We would like to report that by February 7, TV Kanazawa has donated all of the revenue to Ishikawa Prefecture and the local government of Noto. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who watched the performance via paid distribution and to everyone across the country who purchased charity T-shirts. Thank you very much. We would like to thank the four figure skaters, Yuzuru Hanyu, Takahito Mura, Akiko Suzuki, and Satoko Miyahara, who agreed with the purpose of the project to support the people in the disaster-stricken areas and performed brilliant and powerful performances, as well as Wajima Wadaiko Toranosuke and the Noto High School Calligraphy Club, who conveyed their youthful and passionate energy. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the people involved who cooperated in hosting the performance, producing the video, and distributing it. We will continue to take on the challenge of bringing smiles to the people of Ishikawa Prefecture. (Note that the above revenue includes some of the proceeds from the charity T-shirts, but does not include the additional orders for T-shirts that will be shipped after April. We plan to donate the proceeds from the additional orders once they are confirmed.) It also reported that the entire amount had been donated to Ishikawa Prefecture and the local government of Noto by that day. Hanyu approached the organizers, saying, "Is there anything we can do for Noto?" and together with TV Kanazawa, the organizers, they were able to make the performance happen. Together with Takahito Mura, Akiko Suzuki, and Satoko Miyahara, who agreed, they skated for an hour, praying for the disaster-stricken areas. The venue was empty and the performance was streamed for a fee. In order to keep the budget low and donate the money, they did not use flashy lighting like in a normal ice show and cut down on production funds. Hanyu's support continues. The "Ishikawa Prefecture Support Project" to support the recovery was just launched on the 1st. Life-size panels (7 types) and posters have been installed at tourist facilities and airports in all 19 cities and towns in the prefecture. By scanning the QR code on the panels and posters, you can watch a video message from Hanyu calling for support for Noto. The campaign will run until March 31st next year.
