@meowmeownyan That’s very encouraging news that he feels well enough to jump 4A in practice!! Do you know if he has landed it?

Wonderful to see news about Yuzu, but it seems like he has not announced whether or not he will compete this year. He says his ankle is not 100%, and I wonder if that is a big reason why maybe he doesn’t know right now. He isn’t forced to jump in ice shows, but he has to jump in competition. Perhaps he is waiting to see how well he heals???

I have only spent a few weeks in Japan, so I am no expert, but I think you are correct that Yuzu is an outlier, and Japan does not like outliers. Japan is not a country that strives for diversity. On the contrary, they strive for homogeneity. They like rules and rule followers. They like oneness in body and mind. Yuzu, as we all know, lives on his own planet. He is strong willed, and is not easily controlled. He does what he thinks is best and right. Even though Yuzu is very Japanese, he is not the typical Japanese.The typical Japanese person wants to be a part of the group, not an individual. Superstars are not part of the group, but are different. Different is diverse, and diversity isn’t desired, especially by the powers that be, in their society. So, the powers that be want him out.

A part of Yuzu’s appeal is his physical attractiveness. Physical attractiveness, personality, skating ability, these are components of being a super star. I am not trying to be mean, I didn’t call him names or ridicule him, but am only honest about my feelings, which I clearly stated were “in my opinion”. So, in my opinion, Yuma does not meet Yuzu’s level in any of these categories. I thought we were allowed to state preferences on this website, as just about every post here does. I don’t see how saying I don’t find Yuma attractive is any worse than saying I don’t like his personality or skating, which you apparently think is ok to say. But, in any case, I’m sorry if I offended you. That certainly wasn’t my intent.

I cannot and will not have Yuma shoved down my throat in their attempt to replace Yuzu. [Admin edit: Please keep your criticism constructive.] His skating does not come close to Yuzu’s. For me, not only is there no excitement surrounding Yuma, there is no appeal at all. I like Shoma much more than Yuma, but even he cannot hold a candle to Yuzu. Once Yuzu retires, I am done with ice skating competitions and the Olympics. They are political, biased, and sometimes corrupt. I am here only because Yuzu is here. As the last straws, if the Russian abuse of young girls wasn’t enough, that awful thing with Javi pretty much sealed my negative opinion of figure skating. What a nasty business! My dream is that somehow Yuzu could use his thesis and his amazing ethics and influence to fix figure skating, so we could enjoy it the way it should be.

But remember, Yuzu has nothing left to prove. He is the GOAT, and whatever happens here doesn’t change that. Yuzu will still try his hardest to win. He should totally receive all our prayers, love, and support. Honestly, it means more to him that he wins than to his fanyus, because we will love him no matter what. We love Him unconditionally.

Yuzu has made amazing comebacks before, so it’s not impossible, but, honestly, it’s unlikely unless he can land his 4A (which he may yet do.) I imagine he will end up with silver or bronze, especially with the bias towards Nathan, but we can still pray for gold. Nathan broke Yuzus short program world record tonight at over 113, Yuma bested 108, and Shona bested 105. However, the 4A was Yuzu’s real goal, so that’s what he will probably shoot for.

Yuzu finished 8th.

Yuzu has nothing to lose in trying for his 4A now. I pray he makes it, because that is what he wants the most. If he doesn’t make it, then we may have the joy and privilege of watching him skate another year in competition. He is the GOAT, and no one can take that away from him. He is OUR GOAT, and no one can take US away from HIM. He is ours, and we are his.

Despite the pop, the program was beautiful. No matter what, he is our Beloved, Awesome, GOAT Yuzu. We will always love him and support him.

Yuzu popped his quad sal. I heard on twitter it was because his skate got stuck in the ice, but I don’t know if it’s true. Score is 95.15. Still more people to skate, so I don’t know final standing, but I know it won’t be good.

Dear Fanyus, During these exciting, but stressful Olympic times, we may have trouble relaxing and falling to sleep. I have found that listening to the Music with Wings broadcast most satisfying and relaxing. It is a beautifully orchestrated collection of some of Yuzu’s skating music recorded in January of 2020.
