  1. For the longest time, I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I avoided all the videos about the crash and also his program because I just couldn't do it. The thought of him injured so badly and hurting so much makes my heart clench in sorrow. Only month after I became a fan that I watched the video and his program and it made me tear up because of how determined he was to compete and do his best. His love for skating is truly awe-inspiring and motivational. I cried too when I saw his score.
  2. Ahh... why does that clear, bright smile melt my heart... someone help me....
  3. I know we were talking about ISU placing potentially bans that can affect Yuzu's routines, but I happen to stumbling upon this interview again about not being 'shackled by the routines' and to 'have the courage to change the routine' and it reminds me that no matter what others try to do to trip him up, he will turn that negative energy into yet another challenge he can overcome and it will only make him even better
  4. Oh phew. Ok I can see why headphones on the ice would be a bad idea....
  5. I may have contributed 1 more view.... or 2 more.... or 10 more.......
  6. This is from an interview a few days ago from the Kiss & Cry magazine! https://www.instagram.com/p/CQlA2P7pU8u/?utm_medium=copy_link This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  7. I am going to try going anyways, but if I cannot get tickets... I guess it means the world is conspiring against me ever seeing him live... Maybe I should have tried getting the SOI tickets
  8. Well... given that I am considering flying across the world just to see him live ONCE in my life, I can definitely believe this.
  9. I see. I found a website here that explained how the 2019 NHK lottery system was done. Perhaps I need to start looking for a Japanese friend who likes figure skating...
  10. Hello! Do you mind explaining how to get NHK or JNats tickets? I heard a Japanese address is necessary?
  11. Ahhh I really want to see Yuzu live... But how can I get tickets?
  12. Ah, so it is not just me who is having trouble finding a good figure skating podcast! Unfortunately, I only have one to recommend, and they haven't updated since Mar 29. The 'On Figure Skating Podcast' by Dea and Johanna is really good! They are both Swedish I think. I think most of what they say is pretty fair and I like that one of them is a 'new' ish figure skating fan while the other has been a fan for a long time, so they can have quite diverse views. I have actually finished listening to all their episodes already!
  13. Yes! I just sent it to my friend the other day! https://www.instagram.com/p/CPqEnh_o__j/?utm_medium=copy_link He looked like he wanted to take photos with her
  14. Interesting! Do you happen to be a PhD student, post-doc, or professor? (I am just curious because I will be starting my PhD program this Fall) Coding is tricky stuff... sometimes it is that one small comma or line hiding that is tripping everything up (just like when Yuzu tripped over a hole he created ) Like how Yuzu will eventually land that 4A, you can definitely do it too... Just a bit more! Take some breaks watching Yuzu's programs to help your programs !
  15. Thank you @hananistellata and @CaroSkate for sharing! Yes, there are fans of Yuzu who may have been doing figure skating before they learned about him and also fans who are more a fan of him than of figure skating. I merely became both his fan and a fan of figure skating because figure skating is so elegant and Yuzu brings out its beauty even more. I learned some Japanese a few years ago because I was interested in Japan's culture but I actually stopped for about 2-3 years. Becoming a fan of Yuzu made me pick it up again!
  16. I am sure he does! Probably through his hundreds of different earphone and earpiece
  17. Today, I managed to talk to a friend who used to be a figure skating fan (real life for once! I haven't spoken to people who aren't family face to face for a while because of COVID) about Yuzu and how close he is to landing a quad Axel, plus some other skating related things and it makes me soo happy! Because of Yuzu, I am learning so much about figure skating, the different types of spins, jumps, skating shoes, traning, etc. I really love it! It is like if life is a game and an entire map of the world is opening up to me. If all of you don't mind, can you share how Yuzu has gotten you into learning more about figure skating or has affected your life? I am really curious!
  18. I know a little bit of Japanese + Mandarin + I used Google translate! Sorry if I'm butchering anything... Question 4) Right now, you favorite opposite sex (any meaning) Answer 4) No answer Question 9) Your best dish Answer 9) Oyakodon (maybe because I can make it (smile)) [t/n: popular rice dish with egg on top of chicken cutlet. it is sooo good!] Question 10) Something that reminds you of the taste of home Answer 10) 1) Pots, 2) Nishime [t/n: a traditional Japanese vegetable stew sometimes prepared with chicken], 3) Gyoza Last question, I think he said the 4CC! And to add on to the Junior Grand Prix, he also said that it was specifically the final at Tokyo. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  19. Same! Whatever decision Yuzu makes, he would have thought deeply about it. There may or may not be contractual obligations he has. In whatever the case, his presence of absence will not affect my feelings towards the Olympics committee or the Olympics itself. I will support him and the athletes.
  20. Perhaps he will reveal that he has started a charity in secret!
  21. Thank you! All of you are very kind. (: I think a few factors made me a fan. I am a casual (emphasis on casual!) dancer and I enjoy all of Yuzu's movements. They are very elegant, intentional, and artistic. I also came to realize this year that his philanthropic efforts go beyond the casual, 'oh I will donate this once to help' thing that we usually see. He is very dedicated to helping people who have have met with disasters of some sort and it's a part of his personality to be empathetic to others. It's not an understatement to say that he has probably made figure skating wholesome in a way that it wasn't in the previous generation (with all the in-fighting, etc). He seems to genuinely enjoy competition and has a very mature way of looking at them as challenges rather than feel threatened by them and act defensively. He welcomes failures and uses them to drive him. All very admirable traits I wish I can have haha. Another part of it is how expressive he is. He really does wear his emotions on his sleeves and this shows up through his ice skating and his interactions with people. He tries not just to be a great skater but a great human being in general. Rare to find in someone!
  22. Tbh, I have been lurking too because I don't know really know what to add and I'm more of a recent fan. Been reading Yuzu's biography and generally being inspired by him to do skating (inline and ice!) as well to persevere in what I do!
