I don't know if this has been shared yet, but here is the ESP ITA commentary of Yuzu's WC21 SP. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

On a completely different topic, this has probably been done before, but I just wanted to see if I could rank Yuzu's senior programs. I'd be curious to see you guys' list, too, because I think my preferences reveal a little bit of my personality My top ten favorite Yuzu senior programs, including exhibitions: Notte Stellata Seimei Chopin Ten to Chi to Hope & Legacy Requiem of Heaven and Earth Parisienne Walkways Romeo & Juliet I Otonal Let Me Entertain You Honorable mentions: Let's Go Crazy, Hana ni Nare, Hana wa Saku Some observations and notes:

Hi, I totally understand how you feel. Unfortunately, with the Olympic season on the horizon, everything will start to ramp up--good and bad. My advice for you is to know that it's okay to take breaks and leave anything figure skating, or even Yuzu-related content, if it'll help. It's okay to disengage. I usually try to not get caught up in anything on Twitter that will make me angry or sad, because it's better for my mental health. There will always be people trying to disparage Yuzu and his fans, saying all fanyus are deranged, dismissing anything they say as hate, and god-forbid if you try to question the judging and the ISU (which is totally okay if you're just a regular skating fan, but if you're a Yuzu fan, your opinion is invalid). So right now, you're feeling drained. And that's okay. Know that there are tons of us who will support you and each other. The Planet here is pretty welcoming, and we can all share our frustrations and try to lift each other up. If you do still want to get Yuzu content without seeing all the negativity, I suggest just sticking here, watching old Yuzu videos/interviews, and chatting with fellow fans. Since you're looking for cute content, here is a video that never fails to make me smile (you may have seen it already):

Yeah, my interpretation was that he probably doesn't count UR as "landing" it. I don't know how else you can decide to leave it out only three days before leaving for Worlds without having stayed on your feet at least once. But who really knows? It's Yuzu, after all.

Javi, if for no other reason than he was a ray of sunshine. He and Yuzu exemplified what rivals should be, respectful, without a need for bitterness that the media really likes to cultivate if they can. Could you imagine what kind of environment TCC would've been if they were anything like Yagudin and Plushenko? Also, they're clear examples of how rivals can push each other to be better: Javi became more focused seeing Yuzu work so hard, and Yuzu became even more motivated from his losses to Javi (and Javi was also the reason he came to TCC in the first place). Anyways, I'll leave this with comments from Javi about Yuzu during Worlds, because it's heartwarming to see how much he respects him even now.

I just repeat Notte Stellata on loop to heal my soul, so I don't become enraged

I forgot which interview it was, but when he was asked whether he'd want to be "Hanyu Yuzuru" again in another life, he said that no, he wouldn't. It felt like a stab to the heart, hearing him say that. I'm not sure whether he still thinks that way, but it just goes to show how much he has suffered compared to how much he has achieved. I also just want him to be happy. I want him to land that 4A. Although I did mention in one of my previous posts that I liked seeing this new Yuzu who doesn't care about winning as much as before, it does also make me kind of sad. He really enjoyed competing and would've continued to enjoy competing, but these past three years have not rewarded him at all. I don't want to be presumptuous, because no one really knows what's going on inside his head, but I feel that he felt defeated by the judging, which was what caused him to go into this ultimate zen, enlightened mode. He went from being happy at the Kiss and Cry even after a fall, to looking worried and then relieved once he got his scores, to looking confused and throwing not-so-subtle shade ("I hope the rotation was okay for the toe"), to just nodding and shrugging with an "it is what it is" attitude. I would've liked to see him go into this mode more naturally, but perhaps this outlook will lead to a road with less heartache, because regardless of scores, being the first to land a 4A is something no one--no judge nor commentator nor competitor--can take away from him.

I get that bittersweet feeling, too. I think for me, it's because his journey hasn't been easy and that he's closer to the end of that journey rather than the beginning. It's being able to see the full picture at once: baby Yuzu who was filled with hopes and dreams, not knowing the hardships he was about to face; the Yuzu who rose to the top despite all the pain and heartache, who kept single-mindedly striving to achieve his dreams; and now, the Yuzu who's nearly accomplished everything he wants and still is pushing beyond his limits, the Yuzu who was built from all the previous experiences encapsulated in this picture.
-
Thanks for sharing! I love that they're all cheering for baby Yuzu

That's a good point Though I wouldn't be surprised if he did a hybrid type of training where he'd mostly practice on his own in Japan and do remote coaching, and then if he does decide to go to ACI or just Canada, he'll stay a little longer to get some direct feedback from his coaches and refine his programs.

Gosh, that makes me realize just how insane he is. Three Olympic cycles, and he's a contender for gold for each of them. He has a 100% success rate at the Olympics! And it's funny how he was never the favorite going into them, and he still isn't now. I know the Olympics isn't his priority, and neither is winning, really, but I can't help but wish for him to take home the gold with a 4A. But realistically and historically speaking due to past trauma, I might just be praying for his ankles for the entire season. Crossing my arms, fingers, toes, and hair that he finally lands 4A to his satisfaction without injuries, and really, I just want to see him fly because he knows and we all know that he's got wings.
-
I think so, too... so... let's go crazy? Because I know I will once I witness that pure insanity
-
I know, right? Ugh, I hope the pandemic cools off soon, because I will fight hard for those tickets. I've never seen Yuzu live yet, unfortunately, but this time, I really want to be there to witness history.
-
Yep, Yuzu at this point has transcended competition and scores, in my opinion. Love the energy he's giving off this season, that clear "I'm just here to land the 4A and give good performances along the way, whether or not that's reflected in the scores or medals. I know I've improved." I was a bit worried post-Pyeongchang when he seemed frustrated that his efforts weren't being rewarded, and I was also worried that he seemed to be resigned and dejected at the Kiss and Cry, but I like that he's turned his focus solely into making his childhood dream a reality.
-
Your comment reminded me of this video Now that Yuzu seems to be more confident about landing the 4A, it's time to bring this back for all the judges out there:

I think what's also impressive is not just the fact that he would still be able to do his old programs at 26 years old, it's also that I don't think his old self could do the programs he's doing now with such ease. Something about his skating just looks a lot more effortless than before. He's gotten a lot stronger. And yeah, for as much as he's accomplished, he's also had to endure so many injuries and illnesses along the way, being injured nearly every season since 2014. It would've been crazy to see how much more he would've accomplished without them (he'd probably have a stable 4Lz and do 5 quad programs lol), but knowing Yuzu, he'd just say that the challenges are what made him stronger.
