  1. Bad news, already tried watching the video and it's not playable in my country (Canada)! Any other suggested videos? (P.S. NBC Sports you suck!)
  2. Yeah, I'm sorry to have to ask (especially since I just posted my birthday wishes to the ice king Yuzuru-kun), but when was this? Is there any videos about his reaction?
  3. Happy birthday to the ice king, Yuzuru Hanyu. Many blessings and years of happiness and joy await you! The most humble, kindest, charismatic and adorable gentleman of the ice is now 25 years old! Tanjobi Omedetou Yuzuru Hanyu! With love, Cynthia Teoh
  4. I mean, honestly if that WAS true for her she is making herself look bad. Her perception of the fandom will speak for herself. People who act like that on social media don't deserve attention compared to others who work hard for it. Unless she makes further comments or worse, actually confirms her attitude towards the fandom, I'd say you will need to turn your attention to Yuzuru more. I would say that it's because he is already in lots of dilemmas like scoring issues (from ISU), future events, trying to land the 4A and even his birthday coming up. It's better to support him with more pressing issues so that if Yuko actually worsens things, we will be there to catch his fall.
  5. Well, I have been job searching to not work on Friday or Saturday as much anymore and attend more figure skating events (another reason is that I want to switch my career field). I just hope that would fall through before March. I have even jump-started my Japanese language self studies (entering Japanese school in September), so practicing with the Japanese fans sounds fun. Might book tickets just around the men's practices and the men's free program (my line of credit comes in handy and the interest rate is only 7%). As for accommodation, my dad and stepmother live in Montreal but I don't want to look like I am leeching off them even just for a few days, so what kind of options should I look at? Never tried airbnb, possibly a motel(?), and hotels are too expensive (even the ones near the downtown core).
  6. That's actually a great idea. It sounds much easier than the stress of sending him fan mail and worrying about it constantly. Do you know where I can find out about these message gathering campaigns and where to find one near me?
  7. Hi there, I know I haven't written since late September but I have some questions. First off is that I already sent him some fan mail in the skater's gift box (a letter with a translated copy, stickers, some pictures and a self addressed envelope) at ACI 2019. Just hearing that it would take a few years to hear back from him, I wonder that amount of time has changed or if it has stayed the same? Would like to hear if anyone in the forum has heard from him though. On a side note, I am having a hard time deciding on another figure skating event to go to. However I have to keep in mind the distance from where I am at (in Ottawa, ON) and the vacation time I am entitled to per year is two weeks as an assistant cook. Even I had to draw the line with Kelowna, but I am unsure if Calgary or Mississauga is too far. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  8. I mean, there's a time to cheer and scream and most of the time it might not necessarily be at practice time. That's the time when all the skaters need to focus and concentrate on their work. Even when it's your favorite singer trying to rehearse on stage, the last thing they need is applause for every high note they hit. All the figure skaters need practice and warm-up or they may make mistakes or forget the program they're trying to skate. As for when it's okay to get their attention, it may be something where it's at a gala or even the medal ceremony. Just after the skaters got their picture taken and did a tour around the rink, I had no problem shouting "Omedetou Gozaimasu" to Yuzuru, especially since the music was so loud back then. THAT definitely got his attention because he noticed, smiled and waved back at me BUT it was also at a more appropriate time. Granted he also paused a bit before moving on because I dropped my banner to wave back, so the moment lasted for half a second longer. It's when that sort of attention is welcome because it was a victory celebration. Screaming and shouting during practice means you're not being considerate to the other skaters or the people around you and that you're only thinking about yourself. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the male figure skaters felt a bit annoyed at any unwarranted distractions such as that. You'd be pissed too if you're trying to concentrate on your program and can't remember it because of such distractions like that, even when it's not directed at you.
  9. Doesn't anyone at Xylitol even think before making these designs for him to wear? It's too overly done for Yuzuru. Anyone who is thinking about buying these posters is clearly wasting money like that.
  10. That has got to be one of the most adorable moments EVER! It would be so EPIC if Yuzuru actually reacted to it on Twitter!!
  11. I think this is why we have to remember Yuzuru Hanyu is still a human being with his own thoughts and individuality. Only a small portion of his fans think like that while everyone else puts him on a pedestal. Moments like the ones that you just mentioned are when it's actually starting to bother him a bit. When I was at the event, during the men's practice there were still some cheering for him and I clapped along even though I was also trying to pay attention to the other skaters' practice too. I even felt uneasy during these times because I felt guilty for getting distracted by that applause. We need more considerate fans like ourselves so it doesn't feel like we are alone empathizing with him.
  12. So I have a couple of questions and one is about the skater's gift box this year. Why was it mostly gifts rather than cards or letters? I didn't see a lot of those in the box on either Friday or Saturday. I put in a Bentley bag with a Pooh Bear and a package on Friday and it was half full when it got emptied out. It had Yuzuru's name in Japanese and English and inside was a letter (with a translated copy), stickers, a copy of my Pooh Bear drawing, pictures and a self addressed envelope. I'm not even sure if he'll use the self addressed envelope let alone listen to my concerns for his health (as in injuring himself). I'd have hoped he would try listening somehow, but with his latest interviews suggesting overexerting himself, I feel worried as hell. Especially when he said he was training quintuples in a harness (like quads aren't enough work to land!).
  13. Okay, sorry if I'm coming across as a jerk, but I'm just feeling really mad that no one is noticing my post about my recent fan mail to Yuzuru Hanyu. I get that you are talking about his group picture with other people, but I'm trying to ask anyone if he might reply to it and have also posted it before (in the links with my last post). Can someone just answer me or not? It's pretty rude to be ignored here in this forum you know.
  14. Hi everyone, I sent Yuzuru Hanyu a framed drawing of Winnie the Pooh ice skating on Monday morning. Along with it was some pictures of how I made it, some homemade Winnie the Pooh stickers and a letter. I forgot to add "Japan Skating Federation" to the forwarding address though, but I'm just wondering if it will get forwarded to him or not. Listed below are my previous postings on Facebook and Tumblr (please check it out). I'm not completely certain if he'll reply even though there have been a few instances that he did (such as nonchan and yuzu sorbet on Tumblr). Do tell me what you think, I'm open to your thoughts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1610393525875114/?multi_permalinks=2283481628566297&notif_id=1552341392934215&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic-My post is listed as March 11th https://cynthiateoh.tumblr.com/post/183454958465/yuzuru-hanyu-fan-mail-This post was listed as March 14th (only one person noticed it so far)
