About his landings, I have a question for satellites who are skaters or who have lots of knowledge about the mechanics of skating.

It seems he is adding muscle mass. Many of us have remarked on it, both during ACI and FaOI. And our observations jibe with his statements about building strength for the 4A (see: Toe Loop, Quintuple). Of course, the added strength is necessary and in many ways a bonus, but will the added mass affect his technique in ways that may take a while to understand and master?

My impression is that skaters have to be careful to balance the advantages and disadvantages of being very muscular. And Yuzu has always been remarkably slender, while, at the same time having the strength to jump like a gazelle. He seems to possess an unusually high ratio of strength-to-muscle mass. But if he's gotten heavier by even a few kg, I would think that would translate into greater impact on landing, at least until he adjusted his technique to compensate for the added mass.

Would that be the case? All insights appreciated.

I also think of the same thing! Idon't have a conclusion myself, but I remember his 4T in Sochi was so light and easy (more than now I think)

Based on my experience, and people that I know, there are those people who just enjoy being alone. I am a homebody myself, and I don't find the need to hang out etc. Sometimes we lament about young man who plays around too much, who does not have a dream/vision in his life, who drifts through life without any contribution to the society. And now we have this young man who can become a role model and we lament about his life too.

From the nuances of his interview, I feel that he definitely does not feel that he suffers. Since childhood, he is convinced that his happiness comes from skating and from his family, and it is enough for him. Rather than internally feeling lonely or isolation, it is people's reaction about his choices which will make him second guessing himself. He thinks that people see him as pitiful. I definitely feel that, when people come to me and criticizing why I dont go out etc., I will start to think, am I a weirdo? Am I strange? Should I feel loneliness or isolation? Maybe I am behaving like a monk, even though I definitely do not feel it myself. For me, what I am doing is normal (I am the kind of person who is capable on not going outside for days at a time, and don't bother to meet up with other people). That is not to say he or other like him do not maintain online communication.

I personally think it is his life choice, and it will be great if people can respect that. I am sure that in his mind, he already has a timeline, that he is going to focus on this, on competing and figure skating until he r-word, and he will sacrifice things that other people think as happiness. And see? The expression that he give during PC's Seimei, that is pure unadulterated happiness that you rarely can find on young people even when they do this so call relaxing and enjoying life. Moreover, from his social interaction, I definitely don't see him as awkward, instead he is very well adjusted and it shows that his social life does not suffer from this. It won't be that long, at least until he is in his 30s, fans might see him go out more etc. etc though I doubt it.

So many people say that we have to have fun and enjoy and relax while we are still young, but esp. for athletes and esp. for figure skaters, youth is that period that one should take complete advantage of. And it is absolutely okay to choose that. And I think we have to respect that he wants to optimize his opportunity.

I think your words've made me feel much better, less worried (that he is sacrificing too much). I am ok with whichever lifestyle he opts for, all I wonder was just if he is happy. And listening to you, I think that he's and happy (and I am happy):iagree:

"Olympic Dream" means something for everybody then, not just smol mushrooms with great ambitions.

But seriously, though, I envy Yuzu his singularity of vision.

I admire him for it but at the same time I am worried. He himself said that he lives like a monk, and that skating is all his life. I am worried because he has lived like that for quite (or very?) long time, and that he may suffer from loneliness, isolation... As a young man, I really hope that he can enjoy and relax a nit more. Am I worried too much?

I'm sorry if this was already posted, but Yuzuru also said in this article that he wanted to perfect Origin even if he would take 3 or 4 years...(I don't know if I should laugh or cry )

Hi, everyone. Being his fan for a long time, I complained about his score openly on Twitter for the first time. Oops , wrong thread :P

:sadPooh: 3 or 4 years? I like the music but isn't 3/4 years abit... to much? I also said before that I find the choreography of Origin is too physically demanding, even for 4 quads! (though it's beautiful to watch, I am really worried when Yuzu has to compete with someone who skates around and jumps!)

Yuzu makes me really want to travel to Sendai and Japan myself. I'm aiming to go on a trip to Japan and see FaOI with Yuzu in the next few years. :dancingpooh:tu

I first heard about Sendai from Yuzu :img_21: I went there this spring as part of my trip to Japan because our Lord said "Please come to Sendai". My thought was exactly "I didn't know this was such a beautiful place". I fell in love with it and you know what? I've already had holiday plan for next year when I visit Japan: Sendai'll be my main destination.

    Hihi, I don't use any make-up either :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:

However, without a dryer I would probably lie with a cold in my bed everyday. My hair is so extremely thick and multilayered that it takes me 50-60 minutes to dry it even in the hottest summer... :13877886:

I wouldn't say it's really confirmation he's landed it. But then I don't think he'll say he's landed it until he lands it in competition, because he knows how important a statement it is.

He didn't say he lands it 20% of the time, just that it's not even at 20% of the level he aspires to (which as we know is super high). That said, I'm personally sure he has landed it, just not regularly. Even when he was first training 4T he would land one in 50. Surely with how long he's had it in mind and given that is training it seriously, and has been aiming to put it in competition (if he'd been able to continue training it) for some time now, he has landed it at least a few times. Or else he wouldn't speak of it with so much confidence. He knows he can land it - because he has done it - but he needs to find the way to land it a lot, then most of the time, then with increasing consistency. But I'm pretty sure he'll either deny or avoid confirming that he's landed it until he does it in competition. I won't be surprised if he adds it to his layout and goes into a competition and when media asks him about it, he'll say he hasn't landed it yet. It's not a lutz or a flip, it's Nessie. I don't think he'll make statements until he can back them up. Once he's landed it in competition, we'll probably hear he's been landing it for years lol

Oh as for the ideal comment from Going yesterday, just a nuance, but I think what he meant was that it's not himself he's fighting (the interviewer asked him, if it's a fight against himself), but rather his ideal version of himself. And that ideal version is the one he's chasing and aiming to beat. The overall idea is the same, but in a way that he's no longer fighting his previous achievements, but fighting an ideal version of himself means he's now going beyond anything he's achieved so far. It's kind of a refreshing statement, as well as encouraging, because it really doesn't sound anything like retirement is on the horizon. (That said, I could be wrong, as I am jet-lagged to hell and back :headdesk2: I was awake for over 36 hours for my trip home, due to flight being in the evening and some delays...)

Thank you so much. Please have a lot of rest!:img_21:

:hihi: I didn't know about Sekkisei until Yuzu became its ambassador, but now I pay attention to its appearance in all cosmetics shops or department stores, so still very very effective I guess.

I already asked this question before but no one has replied to me yet.

So I am going to ask again.

Are NHK tickets or Japanese Nationals purchased via EMTG or I have to go through I-tike, ticket PIA and the likes?

    And Its Father's Day here.

Happy Fathers Day to all your Dads and if there are satellites here who are  Fathers.

You may need to look at "Community Talk: Tickets.." here. But there is no topic for NHK yet.

  11. I remember watching a video of Nobu being introduced with a group of Chinese tourists as a famous skater. People didn't know him and when the tour guide(?) introduced him as Yuzu's senpai, everyone clapped their hands. He was like "so now I am known as Yuzu's senpai?"

He had shows together with Yuzu, he was at FaOI until 2017 and he also did Heroes and Future last year. I think Shoma is just busy with other shows (he's doing SOI, PIW, All That Skate, The Ice and Friends on Ice this season), so he doesn't have time for FaOI.

    Makuhari on TV Asahi

    Thank you!:kitty:

  14. I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I've always wondered why Yuzu and Shoma Uno have had no shows together for a long while (or ever?). It's because of the organizers put it that way?
