It's normal discussion. The fans need not be so sensitive as to take offence to the 'generational' thingy. If that also want to be sensitive, oh gosh..... hahaha
-
Yeah, there is/are members who take offence to me saying the restrained part, when in fact being restrained a part of Asian culture. We are supposed to be restrained, seesssh.
-
Not skaters of course. Off hand, hmm, Freddie Mercury leaves an impression. He was the one who popularised We will rock you. From US , Bruce SPringsteen. These are 1980s guys. Michael Jackson was pop star It's ok ya all, younger generation taste is different. The younger generation can go gaga over Justin Bieber(which we facepalm at,hahaha) so I would reckon the current rockstar landscape is different

My opinions are derived from directly dealing with Japanese people in real life. Plus I'm Asian. We ARE inherently more restrained than the regular westerner who speaks their minds. We have rules & behaviour protocols to follow, seriously. And I'm said to be westernized thinking cos I break a lot of the rules, ok. So, you guys dont have to be so defensive about it, I'm saying as an actual Asian living in Asia.

On LGC, I'll put it down to me being old school. I get it on Yuzu trying to be his own brand of rockstar, doesnt come across as that either for me. Yuzu is Yuzu, he doesnt have rockstar aura, he doesnt need to be one. Japanese are naturally more restrained anyway. Oh, dont get me wrong, I loved Yuzu's H&L performance, not so much cos of the WR but the subtle nuances. That's Yuzu & very Japanese, lol. The main point I was addressing on the - Yuzu felt audience not appreciating him trying out LGC& Hope & Legacy topic. I vaguely recall Orser saying in an interview that he(Orser) felt it was too quiet but Yuzu wanted to do it anyway.
-
About Shae's comment on H&L, I forgot where, should be one of the CBC interviews. Rather what she understood as the message Yuzu wanted. Wait.... I go search, it's Sunday afternoon, I have free time. On Prince and artists from the same era, I have high standards I reckon since I know how they actually performed. This was a time when singers had to actually know how to sing properly without autotune. The whole performance did not feel Prince, it looked like a Japanese trying super hard to perform a Prince number.
-
Personally I think Yuzuru didnt manage to embody the aura of Prince, so to speak. He tried very hard, but it's just not in him. I've seen Prince's performances, it felt different. A western skater or skater who's a hardcore fan of Prince would have done better. Seimei, like Yuzu himself said, is more him. Hope & legacy was too subtle in it's message/nuances, it didnt come across as rising up from Tsunami , even from my Asian eyes(that's what Shae LB said the message was) Like I'm a fan of MJ, Michael Jackson(yeah yeah, same era as Prince). I know if a dancer does MJ's song close to MJ's moves. \ For instance, in one of the tribute to MJ, my friend was praising a Kpop idol for doing Smooth Criminal. I was <facepalming> , it was bad. I directed him to one of MJ's conserts where MJ performed Smooth Criminal, specifing look at the feet.

Hahahahaha, Yuzuru is too thin, especially in the chest area. A more muscular male skater, from North American is more suited. wakakaka\

In Tonya Harding's movie, I've read they used CGI . Still looked cheesy. Some fans did suggest using a male skater dresses in TOnya's costume to do the 3A, then zoom out. I suppose the director couldnt find a willing one who is Tonya body type

No need go competition, can keep longer for more ways to style, LOL. Most of the male athlete hair styling very boring, at least have some more Daisuki Takahashi styling or even Shoma Long and tie it like Jason Brown also interesting.

It's part of a list of planned layout. There were 3 for OG I think, as per Orser's interview. Yuzu trained the layouts (also according to Orser) but decided the finalised one on the morn itself. Its not that hard since it's similar to 2015 layout, with 4T 1L 3S replacing 3A2T.

This person offered to translate questions from English to Japanese for the fans questions section : https://twitter.com/yuzueco Or Japanese fans here can help with the translating if they want.
-
Actually I think Yuzuru's calculation is correct. Cos at OG, Yuzuru's SP score was 111, around 7 pts ahead of Shoma. Even if Shoma landed the 4L, those additional pts wouldnt have been enough. Let's see, Shoma would have gotten back the 4 pts from from the GOE, 1 pt deduction for the fall, lets say he gets 1.5 extra from +ve GOE. 6.5 pts more. Not enough Plus the usual GOE and PCS is always below Yuzuru. At 2017 Worlds, Yuzuru's SP was only 95 so he needed an excellent score in LP which he did do.

Any Japanese speaker can translate what Yuzuru said at the end before cameras were off. On the tv version can hear him say "Oshi, Oshi'

Actually even the full title "Continues with Wings" is a bit off English wise. Yuzuru chose the theme himself its ok. I wouldnt, for the sake of my job and company's reputation, lol. Maybe sthing like 'Soar higher, breakthru(refering to the 66 yrs thingy) .'' Or 'Soar with wings, no limits/conquer the universe/limitless possibilities' . Then use the 2X and 66 yrs , maybe 2018 to make some cute hashtag. If its a company, along the lines of 'Passion. Connected' for Olympics is expected. The promo vid was 'People, Possibility, Power, Peace. Passion- Connected' Thats it, 5P and 1C.

As a marketing person, I wouldnt want to be in his marketing team and having to come up with explainations of the hashtag, lol. I certainly wouldnt recommend it to my clients and I'm not even from an English speaking country. My country's top athletes had have their events before. If the slogan sounds off/weird/grammar error(usually lost in translation issue), Everyone would comment, vocally. We would be saying "Who's the PR company that came up with this slogan?! So ..........Sack them" Slogans, themes, etc are supposed to be easy to understand by the target market but hey, I reckon Yuzuru figured his fans will buy anything he sells.
