Both my mom and I have become hardcore Fanyus after the Olympics this year. My mom has watched Yuzu's gala skate at least 4 times and so have I. My mom and I were both born in China and immigrated to the US. I still starkly remember China-Japan tensions when I was a kid in China. In school, the teachers referred to the Japanese soldiers in WWII as "Japanese demons." It's very heartwarming to me that Yuzu is so popular in China even though he is a Japanese skater. Also, I've been sad about Yuzu's losses to Nathan over the past few years, but I now think of Nathan as a successor to Yuzu. Without Patrick Chan and Plushenko, there would be no Yuzu. Without Yuzu, there would be no Nathan.
