  1. Is Yuzu's announcement at noon going to be on his youtube channel in the new community tab?
  2. IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT THE ICE CAMPAIGN The ICE campaign no longer has a chat thread on Planet Hanyu. We have moved to ICE Official Discord Server. Please join us there, and send a Friend request to join the project. Thank you!
  3. Hi Fanyus! This is just a reminder that the ICE campaign is still growing strong, and it's not too late to join us! ICE stands for "International Correspondence Event" which involves sending thousands of copies of our letter of concern about the future of figure skating. This letter is being carefully written by experts with doctorate degrees in hopes of convincing the ISU that they need to address and solve problems that concern figure skating fans. They will be sent during a designated time period. Please check out our chat, ISU Letter Action, underneath the General Chat thread. Our teams are working behind the scenes to move towards our goals, but you will see announcements posted there until notice that we have moved to Discord. Anyone who wishes to support this project needs to join Discord as directed in our chat. Before we launch, ICE will move off Planethanyu, because they are not associated with the campaign. We will then communicate on Discord, and not here. Make an account and send a friend request as outlined step by step in our instructions. There are also videos available in chat for further help, if needed. Making an account should only take about five minutes. Due to different time zones and real life responsibilities you may not get an immediate response, but in most cases it should not take more than twelve hours. Thank you!
  4. Notice to ICE Volunteers: We have created a Discord server for our campaign. Please go to our chat "ISU Letter Action" under the General chat for more information. This server is not yet open to the general public, but is ready to accept current core members and translators, giving them titles and permissions. Thank you for your time and attention!
  5. If you do not have the prerequisite skills, but know someone who does, YOU CAN STILL HELP!!! Please help me contact that person. Either forward this message to that person, or let me know who it is, and I will very politely invite them to join our campaign. We are sending a very professional letter written by qualified people with doctorate degrees. It's gonna be great!! Make history. Change history. Help us out!!!
  6. Hello Fanyus! This is a notice from your Friendly Fanyu Employment Agency! Are you salty about how the ISU treated Yuzu? Do you want to help save the sport of figure skating? Do you want to DO something, rather than just complaining about it? Then you could be EXACTLY who we are looking for to help us with ICE: International Correspondence Event to advance the sport of figure skating. We are writing a letter to the ISU about our concerns with the direction the sport is taking, and the need for technology in judging. This letter will be downloaded and mailed to the ISU by thousands of fans from around the world. If you have the prerequisite knowledge, YOU CAN HELP by joining our totally elite development team of experts! Here is the applicable want ad: Mary-kyo is hiring a candidate with a master or PH.D. degree in computer science with expertise in artificial intelligence. Having a good knowledge of computer vision and machine learning is necessary. Familiarity with deep learning and OpenCV is a bonus. The project is about posture estimation, 3d modeling and action recognition of skaters using video frames. The salary is of course burning down ISU and curing salty hearts. But if it goes well, several academic papers are on the horizon too. Do you have the necessary skills? Want to get involved in this exciting project? Then contact Muffinator, Anabel, or Mary-kyo TODAY! (Or tonight, as the case may be.) You can be a part of the team that is trying to save figure skating, and you may be able to publish your findings in academia. YAY!! Win, win!!
  7. @justalittlehappycloud You asked about a Discord server... Well, our ICE campaign (International Correspondence Event) to send letters to the ISU asking for a move back to artistry and to the use of technology in judging, will have a Discord server soon. I do not know if there is another Yuzu server, but this one will certainly be for fans as well as the letter campaign. We have taken the last week off due to Yuzu's announcement, while we decided whether we will continue the campaign. We decided that Yuzu would very much like it if we did continue. One of the big reasons why he retired are these exact issues. You can see what we are doing in the ISU Letter Action thread under the General Chat. That thread explains what we are doing, but at this stage the core group is writing the letter and building the website using private chat. Therefore, you will not see this activity on the thread. That doesn't mean we are inactive, quite the contrary. We will post more on the thread as these jobs are completed.
  8. @SummerMemories If Yuzu wants to be free of the ISU, then he isn't likely to ever want to be a coach, either.
  9. Well, if Yuzu decides to do a bunch of stuff in Finland, you Finnish members better start making plans to turn into airbnbs, because the rest of us are coming!!!
  10. @Umebachi Yeah, that was a pretty stupid post I wrote. I plead temporary insanity. I really should have said something like "contacted the ISU" not "went to the ISU." Of course, it would be difficult to know if he did contact the ISU. Thanks for the information you posted! I am somewhat aware of the ISU judging problems, and founded the letter campaign called ICE, International Correspondence Event, with Anabel and several others. We have a thread under General Chat called "ISU Letter Action" where we developed this campaign if you care to look. There hasn't been much action on there lately, because we formed a core group of six people, including three figure skating and technology experts, who are using private chat to write the letter and build the website. We are working behind the scenes. However, since the announcement, we are taking time to decide whether we want to continue the campaign. We will decide on Sunday or Monday.
  11. Yuzu went to the JSF and JOC, but I didn't see that he went to the ISU. Interesting. I can't blame him. He is amazing to reach out to any of them.
  12. A few months ago, before Yuzu retired, I had an idea to start a letter campaign to the ISU explaining how we were unhappy the way they were steering away from artistry and how they needed to use technology for accurate scoring. The idea was to produce a professional quality letter explaining how we are unhappy with the direction the ISU is taking away from artistry and their unwillingness to use available technology to insure scores are not unfair. Then, we were going to ask thousands of fans to send a copy of the letter to the ISU. I knew I couldn't do this on my own, especially because I am not an expert on figure skating and technology. So, Anabel contacted me and said she was willing to organize it. She got us our own thread on Planethanyu called "ISU Letter Action" under the General Yuzu thread. I am the legal advisor, editor, and cheerleader who works closely with Anabel. We bounce ideas back and forth. We recruited excellent expert writers and an webpage designer. We found about a dozen people willing to translate the letter into their languages. We were making progress on this campaign. Then, Yuzu retired. We are now befuddled and don't know what to do. Should we quit? Should we continue? Each of us have rolling emotions. We have decided to give ourselves until Sunday to decide if we will continue the project. One of my concerns was that since Yuzu retired, is that fans would not participate in our campaign (called ICE, "International Correspondence Event: To advance the sport of figure skating.") So, my question is, what do you think? Would you download and print a prewritten letter to the ISU in an attempt to save figure skating from becoming "ice jumping" and to make scoring more standard and fair? Or, would you say, meh, since Yuzu is no longer competing, the question is moot, and you wouldn't bother mailing a letter to the ISU within a certain time frame? Is the project worth continuing beyond Yuzu's retirement? I really would like to know what Fanyus think. Thank you.
  13. To everyone here: we are doing a letter campaign to the ISU called ICE: International Correspondence Event. It calls the ISU out for abandoning artistry for ice jumping, and it proposes better judging through technology. See our thread under the main Yuzu thread called “ISU Letter Action”. We are currently writing the letter and building a website. I hope you will participate by printing and mailing our letter to the ISU. Thank you.
  14. @Mary_kyo Are you still willing to work on the letter campaign? Henni and Perelandra say yes. It is a tribute to Yuzu.
  15. @IceWings I know you need a note. We all do. Doctors, step forward and help your fellow Fanyus. Post a note with blanks for us to write our name. Use big words that nobody knows. Thank you.
  16. @river Are you a doctor, too? I could use a backup note.
  17. To whom it may concern: Muffinator had a serious Yuzu crisis last night and cannot be expected to function today. I, Perelandra, a doctor, believe that Muffinator should be excused from all duties today. Sincerely, Doctor Perelandra, winner of the Pooh Perseverance Award
  18. I can’t even type anything correctly anymore. OK, who is writing notes for us? Perelandra, you are a doctor. Notes for everyone!!!
  19. I haven’t slept tonight and the day is dawning. Is having a Yuzu crisis a sufficient excuse?
  20. It’s 5:57 am here, but I feel the urge to lift a glass of wine and give Yuzu a toast. To your skating! To your future! Best wishes Yuzu! If anyone wants to join me, you may feel a little better. Toasting in five minutes! 6:05.
  21. @Perelandra A tribute. I like that.
  22. If they don’t want to endorse it, they might at least send a copy of the letter to the ISU along with ours. I would love for coaches , choreographers, and professional skaters to send our letter to the ISU.
  23. @Perelandra I’m sorry to ask about it at a time like this, but I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen to us.
  24. @Henni147 It would be awesome to contact Yuzu’s manager, showing the letter we are sending, and asking for Yuzu’s endorsement. We could send it to multiple professional skaters and ask for their endorsements.
