Fair competition between the two would have been so exciting. Exactly my thought when I first learned about the so called rivalry. I was prepared to support them both, I’d imagine the competition would be exciting, since you wouldn’t know who would win.
-
I think maybe he lurks by proxy lol. What I meant was someone else is lurking for him and telling him about how loved he is
-
Off topic a bit, I watched Rupaul's Drag Race and I always think of Yuzu when I hear they talk about Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve & Talent. He basically is all that and more!
-
Yuzu has always been charismatic and charming ever since his early days, that's what made him so different. And as per JSF's own word: a mega star. I too understand JSF's motives but their actions doesn't match their words. Support all your athletes fairly, instead of discarding them after you think they've achieved your objectives. I always find it's hyperbole when I read a federation is actually jealous of their own athletes, however the receipts proved otherwise. This is the perfect example of a xiaoren as per @Yuzurella said. True. Is it that hard to be supportive of all your athletes JSF? Yuzu is truly once in a lifetime occurrence, it's a shame they chose to act this way.
-
Clowns, I tell you. If medals you want, then give Yuzu fair scoring. He’ll get you your d*mn medals.
-
He has to treat that ankle first lol. And I’d imagine he would like to be with family & friends while he recuperate from the madness.

I've thought about this. It's about time they do something about the holes. Now we have lasers that can scan for imperfections, even hairlines crack, at lightning speed. Surely one can be made to check the ice after every skate. It would not take long, and if there's a hole big enough to affect the athlete's performance, it can be patched immediately. Yuzu you go invent one and get rich charging exorbitant prices to the ISU lol
-
Ok if Yuzu were to wash his hand off of competing, where would we see him skate next? Ice shows? How often are ice shows conducted? And doesn't ice shows is under JSF too? Not to sound ignorant, I genuinely don't know. It's a shame there's no ice skating gig like those shows in Vegas, ala Cirque du Soleil. Or are they any gigs like that? Part of me wants him to continue to perfect his 4A, but that's just me. Selfish, I know. I want him to show the haters, to go on out of pure spite. There's been a study done about that. It was originally a test designed to study the power of positive thinking on athletic performance, but they divided the subjects up into three groups instead of just two. A control group that was supposed to exercise while maintaining neutral thoughts, a group that was supplied with positive motivation (standard "You can do it! You've got this! One more!" type stuff), and one that was motivated with negatives to induce spite ("That all you got? My mother can do better, and she's DEAD!"). The positive thinking group tested quite a bit better than the neutral one, but the group running on spite crushed them both. Anyway I can say this freely because I know nothing about skating, let alone skate (if I were to try it now I might break my hip in the process) so I don't really know the toll it takes on his body. Ultimately it's up to Yuzu to decide what he will do.

Like I said, didn't even medal but always the center of attention. Your favs could never!
-
Ahahahah why shouldn’t he? Flex that 2 OGMs Yuzu! Go for it! That’s what he should’ve done anyway. If he can’t be proud of his 2 OGMs, then who can lol
-
I didn’t see the current OGM tho, but I might be mistaken Awwww there’s another video, they put Yuzu there too. He doesn’t even medal, star power indeed.
-
Awwww they include Yuzuru in the tribute video
-
Lol “but that’s not fun”. He also should’ve pointed out he’d won everything there is, the OGM twice included, that would’ve shut everybody up.
-
Fanyu: The federations hate Yuzu. They want him to retire. Also Fanyu after every competition: Yuzu probably going to retire after this. I’m so sad. Also also Fanyu: Keep talking about Yuzu’s retirement although they don’t want him to retire. Seems to me everyone wants him to retire at this rate. Don’t @ me lol
-
Clouds I’m telling you. Like skating on clouds! Or like one of my fav podcaster fav saying: Smooth like hot butter on ice (whatever that means lol - he was talking about the smoothness of fountain pens here)
-
Like skating on clouds That fan was right then, meeting him was like a god descending to earth
-
I've said before, I like this end pose so much, never thought it would get so much better with a Pooh rain. Hoping we can make it a reality in the near future. I can see Yuzu holding the pose for the dramatic effect.

"When I worked with him 5 yrs ago I felt that I’d never met such an innocent, untainted person. Like glass, like silk thread. But I think only such a person can do his 4-minute (program in) competition. I won’t let anyone hurt him- (he) makes me feel that way." I'm in this tweet and I don't like it
-
Tbh I don’t want him to join the gala. Let him rest, relax, rejuvenate, recuperate, refocus, restrategize and all the “re” he wants/has to do. But that’s just my opinion, just throwing it out there.
-
Hear hear! Strange right, Yuzu is easily the most marketable and bankable athlete, they should cater to his every whim but no, they just want to push their mediocre favs instead. And by mediocre I mean that Yuzu has the whole package - not that the others doesn’t skate good lol
-
Ahhhh so it’s politics then. Because if it’s money + recognition route then they would be a fool to not side with Yuzu. What a bunch of idiots.
-
Why though? Why do they do that? I honestly want to know why. Did I miss something? Same with ISU. Did they feel Yuzu is a has been? That his time had passed? Is Yuzu in private is actually an asshole to them? Or is Yuzu a problematic athlete? By all reasons and logic, clinging to Yuzu, holding on to him like their life depended on him is the best strategy of all.
-
Ok I just have to ask, why do the federations dislike Yuzu so much? I mean, to ISU he is a very bankable athlete, he brought people to the sports, he easily fills any venue. Like the WSJ article said: Yuzu has that boyish good looks, talent and dedication. This type of combination is rare. And let's face it, that face appeals to all ages and genders. Shouldn't they take advantage of this? Promote the hell out of this dying sport, get him the royal treatment he deserves, give him all the support (and candies)? Are they saying they're above such tactics to bring people to appreciate the sport? To the JSF, he has international appeal, has fans from all over the world, is a hell of an advantage to Japan. People would travel to see him perform. He can do so much for the sport and also Japan, not to mention the Pooh industry. Anything he said/mention/endorses has weight. Why are they treating him like scum? ETA: or did they already ask him to do all that and he refused, hence the treatment?

The more I think about this, the more I feel like I'm going through this Olys with the wrong mindset. I mean look at Yuzu, he seems to be in the mindset of: Now that I'm in the Olys, might as well win. But if not, no biggie. At least that's what my brain is telling me right now. So that's what I'm going to say I'll do, whether my heart can take a directive from my brain is a different matter

SAMEEEEEEEEE. That's why PW will always held a special place in my heart. Youtube was doing its thing just playing in the background and I just happened to watch it. I think it was his Olympic Routines Top Moment? It was so mesmerizing and captivating to watch. I could not take my eyes off of the screen. I never knew figure skating could be like this. He hit the note every time and it was so effortless and magical to watch. I always think that figure skating and ballet is to a lesser extent a polished version of interpretive dancing, where I as an uncultured swine could not understand the music, nothing is matching with anything, movements/choreo not synchronized, etc. But that PW program made me feel I finally understand figure skating. Of course had I watched other skaters I don't think the impact would be the same, they don't have the magnetic charm that Yuzu has that makes you just want to stop and watch him skate, not to mention their choreo doesn't do it for me.
