Thank you for your great work! It was indeed funny talk show, I rewatched it a couple of times Glasses white hoodie oji-san is actually PPAP guy , so Yuzuru and TJ at WTT had a relation in the past (sort of lol). He has two names, PIKOTARO and Kosakadaimaou.
-
Sure, I hope Russian fans will like it Thank you very much for asking

I'm sorry, I noticed the links I posted were not workingI have just fixed them now including Uchimura's post. They are really great athletes (mostly the men) so please check the English wiki if you are interested

Not only Kohei Uchimura, other top Japanese athletes were also inspired by Yuzuru in the Olympics according to these articles and tweets. I didn't have time to post at that time since there were too many news about Yuzuru himself, but here it is Tomokazu Harimoto (table tennis, gold medalist in JWC of 2016, https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/張本智和) https://www.jiji.com/jc/article?k=2018030300544&g=spo (After he lost in the game) "If I had the mental strength Hanyu has, I would be able to get closer to the gold medal. I want to carry this regret to the next." Kenzo Shirai (gymnastics, gold medalist in the Olympics and WC, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenzō_Shirai) https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2018/02/26/kiji/20180226s00067000092000c.html "In the warm up, there was the jump he was not able to land, but he succeeded it at one shot in the actual performance." "Hanyu said he would challenge 4A, and as a leading "twister" in the gymnastics, I also have to aim for the higher level." Daiya Seto (swimming, gold medalist in two WC, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daiya_Seto) https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2018/02/26/kiji/20180225s00092000488000c.html "I think his road to the Olympics was not easy being injured, but it was beyond amazing he achieved the greatest result at the biggest stage." "I have the connection with Hanyu in terms of belonging to the same company (Seto is in ANA, also a student of Waseda Uni), I only have greeted him. I'm interested in the mentality of "The absolute king", so I would love to talk with him. Of course, I am feeling like "I have to do it next." and being passed a baton from him." Naohisa Takato (Judo, gold medalist in two WC, bronze madalist in the Olympics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naohisa_Takato ) http://www.hochi.co.jp/sports/winter/20180220-OHT1T50213.html "Hanyu's consentration is really great. I was moved from my heart that he executed perfectly at the big stage without loosing focus after he had injured his right ankle. He must be realizing his current strength and weakness very well. While he wanted to have the best performance at the current state since it was the Olympics, he did stick to giving all his best on that day. It was the toughness that normal people don't have. Hanyu had it and I felt he was a monster." "He has the absolute power that nobody can say anything about. I watched him feeling like the excellence of Yuzuru Hanyu as a human being was spreaded not only over Japan but also the whole world. Being impressed by his interview, I was motivated like I had to work harder and keep up, because I want my gold medal in the Olympics after all." Nozomi Okuhara (badminton, gold medalist in WC of 2017, bronze medalist in the Olympics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nozomi_Okuhara) "The more I see the news of Hanyu, the more I want to see him and ask a lot of questions. I want to hear many stories from him." Kosei Inoue (Judo, gold medalist in the Olympics, the current supervisor of team Japan, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kōsei_Inoue) https://www.daily.co.jp/general/2018/02/19/0010999477.shtml "True king. He had the curious aura in his whole body and the power to draw all in." "I shouted when I was watching him. I don't know about the techniques of the sport, but he had his own expression, brilliance and flexibility. I thought he was fabulous." "He has incredible mentality. It is better if we don't get hurt physically, but the important thing is how to control ourselves after getting injured." "We have tremendous pressure for 2020, but we have to fight believing in ourselves after all. As an athlete, he gave us the courage and inspiration." Nao Kodaira (speed skating, gold medalist in the Olympics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nao_Kodaira) https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20180219-00000040-dal-spo "First of all, his attitude for the performance was different (from mine) when he stood on the ice rink. He was standing like he was able to have clean elements without thinking anything, and I felt I wanted to compete in that kind of atomosphere as well." "I've heard that Hanyu read many research papers while he was injured, so if I have any chance to talk with him, I want to ask him what kind of documents he had read." Kosuke Hagino (swimming, gold medalist in the Olympics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosuke_Hagino) https://www.asahi.com/articles/ASL2K6QVJL2KUTQP03H.html "I imagine he had really hard time after getting injured, and his sense (for skating) may not been coming back 100% yet, but he did give it all like that. I was very moved." (Did Yuzuru inspire him toward the consective win in Tokyo Olympics?) "Yes. I can not let the Pooh rain over the swimming pool, so I want to make another kind of rain (in Tokyo Olympics)." Yuto Nagatomo (football, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuto_Nagatomo) "Yuzuru Hanyu is unbelievable. How did he show the best performance after returning from long-term withdrawal due to the injury? Has not he recovered fully yet, has he? Besides, the Olympics is the big stage. You can not do this only by the talent. Well done." Shohei Ono (Judo, gold medalist in the Olympics, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shohei_Ono) https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/201803160000743.html "Hanyu's word "I know how to win the Olympics.". He understands the way of aproaching to the big game, and the way of peaking and conditioning. What I am lack within me is "prominent". I haven't trained enough to be prominent. I only have to spend enormous amount of time to build up."

Kohei Uchimura talked about Yuzuru's win at the Olympics. "I'm speechless. The Olympics was the first competition since he had been injured. If I were him, I could not have done the same. It is impossible for me." Kohei injured his left ankle at WC in October last year and withdrew, and he will participate in the competition in next week after 5 months of absence. His ankle is recovered 70% and he wants to get back the sense of the competition. https://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2018/03/17/kiji/20180317s00067000428000c.html

Hello, TV program called "Kataritei" was aired last night and a current ISU judge Yukiko Okabe talked about the rule change of the next season and it was interesting. ・Marking GOE in 11 grades from -5 to +5, the reason for this was there were the voices they wanted to mark more than +3. And in Ms. Okabe's opinion, 4S in SEIMEI of the Olympics would be graded as GOE +5 in new rule as well. ・The length of Men's FS was decided to be 4 minutes from now of 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Japan was opposed to this idea (the opinions of the coaches and teachers were the last 30 seconds of the program was very important to show the judges what the skaters were capable of doing to win), but other countries wanted the elements of the program be condensed in 4 minutes and to make the time length equal to the ladies' FS, and the major reason was said to be they wanted to make the time length of the whole competition shorter. Also it was funny that Honda said 15 points for 4A was not enough, it should have 20
-
Please let me make correction, it was "Hiroshi Nagakubo". I'm sorry guys (and Nagakubo sensei) and good that I visited here now
-
I also feel like "arriving on 9th" may be just wrong information. And to be honest, I'm more worried about the flu and virus than his foot condition now

Orser talked with the media again today. ・Yuzuru is going to do 2 quads in SP, 4 or 5 quads in FS, choose one from three patterns. ・He is planning to do 4T and 4S, but 4Lo is uncertain yet. ・He was doing physical training and image training of the jumps when he was off the ice, and now he has been building up the stamina doing runthrough 3 times for SP and about 2 times for FS a day. ・When he first got on the ice in the beginning of January, he did 1A, and then did 2A but failed, so he tried 3A and succeeded. After that, he has been doing well. https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXMZO26682050Y8A200C1UU8000/?pye=1 And this TV show says he will arrive in Korea tomorrow, Feb. 9. I'm not sure where this is coming from (Orser said this to the media today?), but we better be ready either way
-
I had never heard of "daum" so I've just googled it. I don't think Yuzuru knows it either unless he is into Korean music or TV dramas secretly I think every country has notorious web sites, and I don't read my country's because it is bad for my health. You know, health is the most important
-
That's what I thought since this was not the official announcement from JSF. Now, let's see what Shirota can do for him
-
And remember this statue of Yuzuru ? It is coming to their rink and be opened for the public from January 28.
-
Agree on the whole post! Actually, my personal impression was that the person asked the question was a Yuzuru's fan, who was interested (or questioning) in the importance of learning the ballet in figure skating and wanted to ask a pure question to a professional dancer like Midori, and just picked up two skaters as examples. (I won't use the word "inferior" in this case, either.) Translation is very difficult, My English is still far from perfect so if I have any worry or doubt in my work, I tend not to post it because it is very scary to spread the wrong information...

Sorry for interrupting the conversation, this article is totally all false and now I know why the editor of Wiki thought the flag bearer was going to be Sara. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2018/01/23/olympics/winter-olympics/sara-takanashi-replace-noriaki-kasai-flag-bearer-opening-ceremony/#.Wml0p2nFLIW So, all I want to say is...we better watch out the Japan times and Kyodo articles. I won't say their information is all wrong, but they confused us about Yuzuru's injury last year, and this article is just...all wrong Happy to know Yuzuru's been doing well, thank you PJ!!
-
Flag bearer is Kasai (and yes, he deserves it!!). Sara hold the flag in the inauguration ceremony yesterday on behalf of him because he was out of country, and I think the editor of Wiki misunderstood that situation.
-
I'm watching the inauguration ceremony of team Japan for the Olympics, Ghislain Briand and Akira Kikuchi were introduced as members from Yuzuru's team. Surprised to see the Crown Prince made the speech

After reading Shirota's book, I can not help but think Shirota is playing a big part in dealing with Japanese media (along with Orser). She wrote about how she has been learning and experiencing so many things and accidents on the roads to the Olympics in the past, and Pyeongchang Olympics is the 8th Olympics aiming for the medal in her 60 years career of being in figure skating community. She looks to me she is a very strategic person and personally I am not surprised if she is in TCC now. She says she can not talk about Yuzuru a lot in the book because he is still competing. She might write another book someday
-
Just a reminder, Yuzuru's chapter in Shirota's book has only about 20 pages, and there is no photo of him (actually this book doesn't have any color photo!) Reading the chapter of Midori Ito, I was kind of heart broken for her and thought getting Gold Medal was really hard and tough for the skaters and the teams. Shirota sounds to me like she is a very strict person, but at the same time, she is so passionate for the sport and bringing Gold medal to Japan, which I know is too much for some fans. But her career is beyond my expectation and I'm looking forward to reading the behind the scenes, I mean, the rest of the book Shirota became a member of JSF in 1970, and recognized Yuzuru in 2004 at Nobeyama camp. (She was greatly involved in developing of the camp from the start.) After resigning from JSF, she still met Yuzuru's mother at the ice shows and was often asked for her advise about the costume and school. Shirota is 72 years old this year and has two children, so probably Yuzuru is like a grand child to her.

I used a word "news", but in Japanese she said "This is a very bright 話 (story or topic)." I'm really trying to be patient now, too, but I think it was a good decision not to tell the details to the media (and his rivals ) to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding,
-
Kobayashi also said, "This is a very bright news.", which gave me positive feeling https://www.jiji.com/jc/article?k=2018011600762&g=spo

The regular version of the program is 30 minutes long, but Yuzuru's version is 55 minutes long, because he is ...special

This is an article of Japanese men for Japanese nationals published yesterday, and Keiji Tanaka talked a little about Yuzuru. https://sports.yahoo.co.jp/column/de...2200006-spnavi "Since we both were injured in this season, we kept in touch with each other. We talked about a month ago, "Hope we can skate together in Japanese nationals.", but I feel lonely it did not come true. I want him to recover soon and show us healthy figure on the ice. There are many parts in him that I can respect as a friend and also as a skater, I wanted to see his performance and learn more, so I wanted to stand on the same ice with him sooner. But this time, I am going to concentrate on my performance." Keiji says he is in the best condition now, I wish him good luck!

I also posted this in GS, but this is Kozuka's view on Yuzuru's current situation. (Sorry, this is only summary and not literal translation) https://www.nikkansports.com/sports/...150000110.html Kozuka says there is no need for Yuzuru to push himself to participate in Japanese nationals, and it is important for the people around him to adjust the environment for him to go to the Olympics and win there. He says he personally thinks there is an option for JSF to announce informally Yuzuru as a representative for the Olympics before JN, but it may not happen based on the rule. Kozuka also thinks there is an option for Yuzuru to participate in 4CC to focus on individual event instead of skating in the team event of Olympics while Japan may want him to compete in the team event. I have to say I was very surprised at his comments in a very good way. I guess he had to be brave to say all these, especially the bolded part because he is not just a figure skating fan like us. I'm very thankful to him. I also want to mention that I've read two articles published this morning and they talked about Yuzuru's injury, but the contents were only speculations by the experts who had not seen Yuzuru at all.
-
Hello! About "knee injury", Kobayashi didn't say anything about it and all the articles written in Japanese didn't mention it at all accordingly. English articles must have been written based on Kyodo article, which only said "knee injury" so far, this Japan time's article was also based on Kyodo and I guess Jack read this before he wrote his own (I don't read his article very often btw.), and I also believe Jackie tweeted about Yuzuru's injury based on Kyodo article. I will wait for JSF announcement this week and Yuzuru is going to talk about the details some day...maybe after the Olympics ?

Hello, I'm a little bit nervous posting here (although I became a member of this forum in May), my translation was brought up in a few pages back so I'm here I just wanted to tell you that I always translate only reliable sources, so please don't worry. And my posts are kind of "information delivery" and I tend to omit the flow of the conversation, so it may sound weird sometimes and confusing and I apologize for that. I really appreciate other translators' works which are well-nuanced and have more vocabulary A bit of information though, Orser said Yuzuru was practicing new "Shae-Lynn-ish" hydro-blading in one practice session, so I personally think seeing it in SEIMEI is more possible than seeing 4A Also in regards to announcement of his LP on media days, Yuzuru asked the media not to announce that until his interview was over because he wanted to explain directly to them. The coaches' interviews had already been finished before Yuzuru's practice, so all the media had to be really patient but they kept their words OK, that's it! Have a great day everyone
