Yuzuru Hanyu announces that notte stellata 2026 will be held - 15 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake. "I feel it is important to continue to pass on this message."

The ice show "Towa Pharmaceutical presents Hanyu Yuzuru notte stellata 2026," hosted by professional figure skater and back-to-back Olympic gold medalist Hanyu Yuzuru, has been scheduled for March next year. The announcement was made on the 11th, with Hanyu commenting, "Together with my fellow skaters, I hope to transcend nationalities and become one circle, creating a single hope."

March 2026 marks 15 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake. The fourth "Yuzuru Hanyu notte stellata" will be held at the Sekisui Heim Super Arena (Grandi 21) in Miyagi. The event began in 2023, after Hanyu turned professional. Every March, he delivers hope from the disaster-stricken area of Miyagi together with fellow professional skaters active around the world.

"Notte Stellata" means "starry sky" or "starry night" in Italian, and is also the name of the music that Hanyu skated to in his exhibition at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Hanyu himself, who experienced the earthquake in his hometown of Sendai, felt hope when he saw the beautiful starry sky on a night when the power was out, so he named this show "Notte Stellata."

　This ice show also contributes to the local community and works to raise awareness of disaster prevention. Official merchandise for sale at the venue will mainly focus on disaster prevention goods. There will also be a well-stocked food and merchandise area featuring local and disaster-stricken areas. The aim is for visitors to enjoy the ice show and think about earthquakes and disaster prevention.

I want people to feel hope, even if just while we're performing, or while they're watching Notte Stellata. Notte Stellata is imbued with the desire to be the catalyst for that. Together with my fellow skaters, I hope we can transcend nationalities and become one circle, creating a single hope.

I feel it is important to convey to children who were born after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and to children who are too young to remember the disaster, how terrible the disaster was and what we were able to learn because of it.
