It's applying them to women as if they are only valued by their relationships to others, even when you don't even know if they have such a relationship, and mainly of course they are applied to women because of their older age.

I feel the need to clarify this part. In my culture, we don't call older women auntie because they're someone's auntie. But because it's like we're calling them our auntie. All my parents' friends are auntie and uncle to me. When my friends visit, they also call my parents uncle and auntie. We also use grandpa and grandma for older people we are not related to.

Of course this connotes age, so for the younger friends of the family (or those who don't want to be called uncle/auntie) we call them big sister/big brother.

Of course it's different in your culture and I'm not telling you to agree with me. But since you mentioned culture, I thought I'd share this here.

FYI calling someone auntie CAN be disrespectful. So sometimes we ask what we can call them, or they correct us by saying "I'm too young to be auntie. Call me big sister :)"

(Or if I'm feeling evil, I'll go up to a big sister and go "auntiieeeee" and watch them go "noooooooo" 😂)

    Edit: I'm from SEA btw

I love the Pooh drama that has taken over my Twitter. Can all future Yuzu-related drama be like this from now on? :YuzuPoohLove:

Old Pooh-san will be so shocked to learn that Yuzu has gone pro. And he has so many rivals vying for Yuzu's love 😂😂😭

Blades…do not need time to break in…. The boots do, but not the blades. The blades got dull after awhile and needs sharpening - Yuzu, for example has this person in Sendai who does the sharpening of his blades for him. And I mean, men skaters wear black boots, and black blades just looks way cooler paired with black boots.
My point re type of blades vs colour of blades is that when it comes to his technical equipments, Yuzu prioritises function over flashiness. He might want to get rid of the silver in his Pattern 99 Revolution blades, and he could go for gold plating, I guess, but he ultimately went for all-black.

I guess breaking in is not the right word haha.. more like, you won't want to perform in blades that were just newly sharpened so you want to use them a bit beforehand to get used to them.

    Yep he went all-black 🖤

Nope LOL. He is beyond that.

Sorry my bad!!! 🙏🙏🙏 I looked at the pictures again and it seems the glitter part I saw was just a trick of the light and wishful thinking 😂

There’s a difference between having blade covers with sequins and having flashy blades that probably would not have functional purpose. The boots and blades of skaters are their technical equipments. Yuzu would never compromise the functions of either just to be flashy. His blades, afaik, are the type that is the most sturdy as well as the lightest, aimed to increase the effectiveness of his jumps. Boyang Jin’s gold blades (and there was a ladies skater who had pink blades, but I can’t remember who), were not this type.

For a custom blade, you don't need to change the kind of blade you use. I read somewhere before that John Wilson (the brand Yuzu uses) offers color customization. (Apparently others do too since Jin Boyang doesn't appear in the John Wilson website). And from there I thought wouldn't it be nice if skaters used blades that matched their costumes 😂😂😂 Obviously this is purely wishful thinking. Blades need time to break in, they're not like ordinary shoes we just swap around.

Edit: Adding picture of the blades because I think they look very cool

…they are expensive. Very few skaters would go for this, especially if they are not well-funded. Skaters as prominent as Yuzu could have this requested because it’s an excellent marketing strategy for the brand. Most skaters also keep multiple boots-blades with them and having to order multiple custom pairs of blade is just not worth it (someone like Yuzu, who takes extra diligent care of his skating equipments is rather rare).
Awhile ago, Yuzu got rid of any silver on his person when he is on the ice, including his blades, hence the now all-black blades.

I remember watching Boyang and his gold blades. That was a sight. Idk why he stops using it though.

I guess we should be grateful Yuzu went for black blades and not gold!

  8. Unrelated, but I want to appreciate Yuzu's old black and silver blades. The blades he currently uses are all black (customized with his name).

Also, apparently you can order custom-colored blades. How come most other skaters I've seen use only the silver one?

"Neophyte Fanyu" might be better. ;) As long as you love and support Yuzu, you're already the real thing. Welcome!

Aww thanks! I don't think it's possible to change my name though?

You are exhibiting classic fanyu symptoms, hunting for Yuzu crumbs everywhere, so I would say you're already a certified fanyu!

Welcome to the Planet and fanyudom!  :welcome:

I don't know how you guys ever survived the droughts xD The plus side of coming in late is that I have years worth of content to wade through:YuzuPoohLove:

  11. Hi everyone. I became a fan of Yuzu recently. Very recently. Just last month actually.

I looked him up after seeing a couple of thirsty memes about him.. heh. I watched his Seimei and Haru yo, Koi and thought, wow this guy is so cool! But it wasn't until I watched his CoC (that program that I can no longer watch without a box of chocolates in my hand) that I became obsessed. I've since been prowling through here, Tumblr, Twitter, TT, and YouTube for all the crumbs I can find.

Seeing how everyone here and on other platforms have been supporting Yuzu's career for years now (and there are too many emotional moments!) somehow I don't feel that I am qualified to call myself a Fanyu. And yet I still want to. So I chose this username as a compromise of sorts :sadPooh:
